Why Kaioshin?
I dedicated this site to Kaioshin because he's my favorite anime character and ( in my opinion) one of the coolest characters in DBZ, and I don't think he gets the recognition he deserves.
Being the last of the Kaioshins, the Supreme Kai is trying to do a job meant for five! Just because he isn’t a saiyan doesn’t mean he’s not a worthy fighter and though he’s not in the league of Goku, Gohan and Vegeta , he still a good fighter who tends to rely on tactics more than pure strength. Kaioshin was the only one to really understand Buu’s horrible power ( at first), and he tried to convince Z warriors of this. Unfortunately, none of them got the picture. Rather than focus on the lives that would be lost immediately ,as Goku did when Vegeta issued his challenge to Goku at the World Martial Arts Stadium, Kaioshin was looking at the big picture. He knew that the lives that would be lost when Buu was revived from the energy from Goku and Vegeta’s battle would be far greater, but Goku wouldn’t listen. Also, he tried to convince Gohan to retreat when Buu was hatching, saying that they were no match for Buu at the present time, but Gohan wouldn’t listen and insisted on attacking Buu’s shell anyway.
So guess who was right, in the end?
Exactly.
Okay, I’ll definitely give Gohan credit for trying, but still, after Gohan’s attack, Buu hatched anyway and ultimately Gohan ended up half dead in a forest and the Supreme Kai took one heck of a beating, to put it mildly. Personally, I think if the Z fighters had just LISTENED to Kaioshin in the beginning, things might have turned out better, but nooo, of course not.......
( Besides, the saga would be shorter if it didn’t play out this way, and we couldn't have that)
Kaioshin is a really mysterious character. His entrance at the Word Martial Arts Tournament had me guessing for the longest while...I couldn't figure out what was up with this guy, and it was driving me crazy...I mean, crazier. Once his identity was revealed, I wanted to know more. His character intrigues me, and I think he stands out from other characters in the show. I liked how, out of all the gods, he bends the rules when he has to, and actually tries to help Goku and the rest. I mean, where would the Earth be if Kaioshin hadn't taken Gohan to Kaioshin-Kai, where he released the Elder Kai (Rou Kaioshin)?
And the from the 'fangirl' side of the why section, I personally think Higashi no Kaioshin is just plain adorable. I'm obsessed with pointy ears, for one thing. Another is that his eyes are so expressive, which is a change from most of the DBZ characters. Also, I really like his voice...both of them. I think there are two dubs, one in which his voice is softer and higher, and another where it's a bit deeper. Anyway, I think they're both cool.
So there you have it. A few of the many reasons that I dedicated this page to Kaioshin. ( I’d have listed more, but I’m sure you don’t want to spend all of your time at my site reading the " Why" section.)
