For The Love Of Two Kaioshins

*I want to say that whoever wrote ‘Forgotten Past gave me the idea that Kais have apprentices. I am not stealing their idea, simply borrowing it. In addition, there is a little…..you know. I am warning you now. Thank you. ~Nishi Kaioshin

Prologue

Kaioshin-kai. The purple skies were the same as they had been for billions of years. A slight breeze rippled the plains of grass and the leaves in the trees. It was so peaceful. A great place for Kaiobit’s baby girl to grow up. Kaiobit was leaning against a tree beside a lake. The lake held a huge stone pillar that once held a Z sword. It had been a year since Majin Buu had been destroyed and the universe was once again safe. Alas, Kid Kai, Kaiobit’s only son, had lost his immortality and now lived on Earth. He attended Jr. High with the Earthling, Lily. Kaiobit looked down. The child he held was as small as her brother had been. Kishi looked more like her mother, but with her father’s hair, eyes, and nose. Kaiobit smiled at her. She was so beautiful and would only grow more as she aged. As quiet as she was, it would be no surprise if she became more like her father.
Suddenly, a cackling laughter reached his ears. Looking up, he said with a sigh, “Hello, Rou Kaioshin.” The elder kai looked down at the little child. “Hm, she’s gonna be pretty, that one. Though with a father like you, she probably won’t have much brains.” Kaiobit winced, and then said, “Well, I wonder if she’ll be more like me or her mother. I don’t think I can handle another Kid Kai!” Rou Kaioshin nodded. “Yes, he’s a loose-cannon all right. Kaioshin-kai’s much quieter than it was.” He picked himself up. “I wonder if West Kaioshin is done with lunch. I think I’ll go see.” The old kai walked off, to old to fly. Kaiobit looked out at the lake and sighed. He missed Kid so much, even if he was a pain. Suddenly, he felt his hair being pulled. Kaiobit looked down at Kishi, who had a fistful of hair and a look of pure innocence. “Ha! Maybe you will be more like your brother after all!” He didn’t know if Kishi understood, but the remark sent her roaring with laughter. Her mother had taught her how to clap and she showed off her new talent in his face. Kaiobit laughed, then had a thought. He waved his hand and a crystal ball appeared. “Let’s make sure your brother isn’t causing any trouble, eh?” An image appeared in the globe of a boy and a girl. Kid Kai no longer wore his formal Kai clothing, but instead a comfy T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. He made a joke and the girl, Lily, giggled, her laughter sounding like bells, causing her red hair to ripple. Lily’s purple-colored eyes shone for the boy next to her, as did his for her.
Deciding he had intruded on his son’s love life enough, Kaiobit closed the image and sighed. He remembered being young love like that. Not that he didn’t love his wife as much as he did back then. He just knew how it felt. To love… His brow scrunched. To lose…

Main Story

“You awake, sleepy-head?” Shin moaned groggily as he opened his eyes to see Kaia, the successor of West Kaioshin. “Oh, hello, Kaia.” Only being 15 and an apprentice to East Kaioshin himself, he hadn’t learned all the proper greetings. The young woman’s face scrunched up as she said, “’Hello’, is that all?” Kaia crawled off Shin and leaned back on the tree that Shin had used as a pillow. “Looks like a good book, is it?” indicating the novel Shin had been reading before dozing off. “It’s alright. So, are you excited about becoming gods today?” Kaia’s eyes closed as she thought about it. “Yeah, but I’m kinda scared too. Something could go wrong, like if we’re not ready, or worse.” “You’re just being paranoid.” Shin assured Kaia. “I’m sure our ceremony will be perfect.” Kaia’s eyes popped open as she said, “You’re awful cocky today, Shin. That’s not like you.” With a mischievous smile, she added, “Who are you and what have you done with Shin?” Before he could reply, Shin heard there names being called. “Come on, it’s time!” The pair raced down the hill to where the ceremony was to be held.
Everyone was there; Master Kaioshin, South and North Kaioshin, the elder West and East Kaioshin, even the servants. Shin and Kaia’s predecessors were about 324,000 years old and they had decided it was time to leave. “Are you ready for this great responsibility, you two?” West Kaioshin asked in her cracked voice. The pair looked at each other, then nodded. “Alright then.” Both of the elders made their way to the youngsters and placed their left hand on top of their apprentice’s head. An odd vibration filled Shin. “You are immortal. Only by another’s hand or your own can you die. Forget your names, for you are now Kaioshins.” With that, the two elders disappeared into thin air as they joined the other deceased Kaioshins in the spirit of the planet. Master Kaioshin smiled at the new Kaioshins, then turned to the spectators. “Let there be a great feast,” he announced. “in their honor and in the predecessors!” As everyone cheered, Shin, now East Kaioshin, looked up at Kaia, now West Kaioshin, and found he could not stop staring at her.

East Kaioshin looked up at the sky. Seven of the 11 moons had risen, making it seem more like day than twilight. It had been 5 years since his and West’s inauguration as Kais and now at 20, he was feeling calmer, yet something always tugged at his mind. Especially when West was nearby. In all these years he had never figured it out. Suddenly, he heard a yell from the lake near where he sat. He appeared beside North Kaioshin. “What’s the matter, North?” The older man looked up and said, “This is the hundredth time my pole has broken! I make another, but they break so easily!” “Well, maybe you should go to planet Soma.” The pair turned around and saw West coming towards them. Once again, East got that odd feeling in his stomach. “South Kaioshin was telling me that he needed new arrows for his bow, so he’s going to Soma to get some. Samorians are the best carvers there are. I’m sure they could make you a fishing pole or two.” North immediately brightened up. “What a fabulous idea!” He jumped up, thanked West, and flew off to find South Kaioshin. “Wow. We’re alone,” West said. “Master Kaioshin is at a feast on Baja and all the servants are seeing family on Grand Kai’s planet.” East looked at her, wondering what she was going at. “Yeah, so?” West shrugged. “I dunno. I just thought it was weird.” She turned to him and smiled. “Let’s go to our spot.” East nodded in agreement. They took to the air and arrived on the hill they had laid on the day they became gods. Little did they know what would happen next would change their lives and the lives of others around them forever.

The two gods lay for an hour, staring at the clouds, until West began changing positions. “Why are you fidgeting so much?” East asked. He had seen her do this before, but had never asked about it. West turned over on her back and said, “It’s just that…I’m not as patient or centered as you are. I can’t stand being still.” “Well, I’ll show you how I calm down.” East crawled over as West got up on her knees. “Now close your eyes.” West did as she was instructed. East put his hands on her cheeks and that feeling struck him again, stronger than ever. Shaking it off, he ordered, “Now breath in deeply. Seek inner peace.” She drew in a sharp breath and yet again that feeling! What is it? East thought. He drew himself closer to West’s face. Suddenly, surprising both of them, East lurched forward and pressed his lips on hers. West’s eyes popped open as her mind and body tingled with pleasure. His lips tasted so sweet, it made her tongue hurt. However, she found herself unable to resist. Instead, she drew him closer, kissing him over and over. East found his clothes unbearably hot and sweaty. He untied his sash and tossed it aside. He continued this until all his clothes were removed. Then he began to overcome his next boundary. He started to take off West’s clothes, all the while kissing her precious lips, savoring the taste. When he finished, he opened his eyes. It took all his strength to stop himself from gasping. West was no longer flesh and blood, but an exquisite work of art. East realized he wanted to plunge into her, to have her body as his and his alone. He pulled her closer to him and kissed her on the neck, making his way downward. A moan escaped from West’s throat. East climbed on top of her, pushing her to the ground. It was then he realized what the feeling he had come to know all these years of knowing West was, as he pushed himself into her and a yell erupted from his mouth, joined by West’s own scream as they merged to become one. Love.

*****

It had been nearly a week since East and West had expressed their feelings, but its effects were just beginning. The pair had become a couple, almost never apart, exchanging kisses as often as they could. Their emotion for each other no longer hid in the shadow of their pride and was know showing itself in the light. All of the servants and Kaioshins were shocked, but none as surprised as Master Kaioshin. He had been through every single chapter of recorded Kai history that he could get his hands on. Never, not once, had two Kaioshins fallen in love. It left him in a cesspool of questions. What he should do about it? His mind taught him to split it apart, but his heart told him that this was love, the strongest force in the universe. Who was he to tear it apart? Master Kaioshin could take it no longer. He had all the Kaioshins and servants to his side. Instead of the melancholy looks they had worn, East his fears and doubts on his sleeves. They were certain Master Kaioshin would order them to stop this foolishness, maybe even forbid them from seeing each other. After all, if no other Kais had done it, there had to be a reason why. West seemed equally frightened. She had been very quiet for the past few days; very unlike her. Master Kaioshin stepped forward and took a deep breath. As he let it out, the council began. “We have come here today because something extraordinary has blossomed among us. At this, he looked at West and East. A good sign, East thought. Maybe he would not split them up after all. “For the first time in our known history, a pair of gods have come to feel for each other. I have pondered and debated over this for many an hour and I have come to…” He let this hang as the Kaioshins’ faces showed how they were feeling as easy as a mirror. “…my decision. East, West, please stand on either side of me.” The two walked over and did as they were told. Looking down at East, Master Kaioshin asked him, “Let me ask you, East, do you really love this woman, do cherish her, care for her?” East was startled at his question, but he answered firmly, “Yes, yes I do.” The huge man looked down at West. “And do you feel the same way for him?” West hesitated, then nodded. Master Kaioshin smiled, then took their hands together and announced, “I have decided…” All the faces peered forward. “For these two to become husband and wife.” Silence. Then one yell, another, and another, till the whole valley was filled with hollers, screams, and shouts of joy. All was shocked, but none more than the newly weds. “You mean-me-her-married!?” East Kaioshin could no longer contain his feelings as he grabbed hold of West and swept her off her feet. As East cried and laughed, Master Kaioshin held up his hands for silence. When all was quiet, he said, “Also, West has something to tell her husband, doesn’t she?” No one but West and Master Kaioshin knew what he was saying. East put her down and asked, “What do you have to tell me?” He listened closely as West leaned close and whispered softly in his ear, “I’m pregnant.” East fainted dead away.

*****

East wandered around nervously outside West’s bedroom. He was not the only one there; all the Kaioshins and servants alike had come to witness the birth of a god. It was a year later. Everyone had been nervous about West, for no one knew how long she would be pregnant. Now the time had come, and West’s grunts and screams as she tried to give birth were easy to hear. A giant hand reached down on East’s shoulder. South Kaioshin looked down at East and said assuringly, “Don’t worry. I’m sure she’ll be fine. You’ll see.” East nodded, and then wiped the sweat off his brow. “I hope you’re right, South.” Another scream came from the room, then silence. Everyone turned towards the door. Suddenly, a baby’s cry filled the air. Cheering as loud as it had been the day of the wedding echoed in the room. The midwife came out, wiping her hands on a bloodied towel. East rushed over to her and gasped, “Well, well!?” The woman chuckled and said, “Do not worry sir, your wife is fine and you are the father of a bouncing baby boy.” Master Kaioshin quickly made a chair appear as East collapsed with relief. “A boy, it’s a boy….” “Would you like to see them?” East jumped up. “Oh, yes! Yes, I would!” The midwife opened the door for East as he went outside. West lay on the bed, her head propped up by pillows. She held a small bundle to her breast. “Hello, dear.” She greeted him. Pointing to the tiny figure, he said, “Is that….?” “Yes, this is our son.” East pulled up a chair and sat down. He gently reached out and revealed the tiny babe to the light. The child scrunched up, wishing to be left in peace as he recovered from his ordeal. His skin and hair was exactly like his father’s, but his eyes, nose, and ears were like that of his mother. “He’s so beautiful.” East murmured softly. Turning to West, he said, “What shall we call him, dear?” West closed her eyes as she thought, then said, “Kid Kai. Yes, we’ll name him Kid Kai.”

East Kaioshin sat reading a book in the grass, enjoying the shade of his favorite tree, where so many things had happened in his life. North Kaioshin was down below, fishing as always. He didn’t know where West was, but he guessed she was with South Kaioshin. Master Kaioshin was satisfying his love for sweets with a mid-day snack. Suddenly, a small hand reached up and began to tear the page he was reading. East peered down in his lap and said, “Can’t you wait till I’m done?” Kid Kai, now a year old, looked up at his father and giggled. It was amazing how fast his first few months had gone by. However, the year had not been a peaceful one. A wizard by the name of Bibidi had created a creature of monstrous proportions called Buu. He was demolishing entire planets; the Kaioshins had never encountered something this evil. Master Kaioshin was worried, but he advised the Kaioshins not to panic and to keep up their daily activities. “Let’s see, what you need is someone to play with.” East looked up and saw a butterfly, giving him an idea. He placed his hand out in front of him, picturing what he wanted. Suddenly, a small cat-like creature appeared in front of him. Its fur was purple like East and Kid’s skin, but its feet, stomach, and the bushy fur on the end of its tail was white as snow. The eyes were a deeper purple and incredibly bright. The ears seemed too big for its body and were constantly twitching. Around its neck sat a small purple collar with a golden tag. It looked up at East, and then peered at Kid Kai. The cat came a little closer to Kid and sniffed him, causing the baby to sneeze quite loudly and hide his face in his father’s vest. “It’s alright; she’s a shape-shifter. Her name is…” East took a moment to ponder on a proper name. “Gato.” Suddenly, East heard yelling nearby. West ran past with South on her heels. In her hands was an enormous rice ball; South’s absolute favorite thing. West stopped at the edge of the cliff, a grin on her face. “No, no please!” South begged, but it was too late as West had chucked the rice ball into the water. South Kaioshin took a running leap and jumped in after it, belly flopping into the lake. Water went flying, as did curses from North about scaring the fish off. West smiled, and then appeared beside East. “I wonder if he knows he could have flown.” West teased as South crawled out of the lake, clutching his trophy. East had to laugh. “You are so cruel.” West just smiled again, then peered down at Gato. “What’s this?” “Kid seemed bored, so I made him a friend. Every child should have a pet.” West reached down to pet it. Gato took a step forward and allowed the woman to stroke her head, making her purr like a motor. Seeing this, Kid laughed and tried to pet her too. Gato licked his hand, obviously enjoying the attention. West got up and walked off. All of a sudden, East heard screams from the hill. “The servants have been killed. I feel a great evil coming.” East, North, and South ran up the hill. Then they saw what had slaughtered the servants.

Buu. And farther off, Bibidi. West Kaioshin was having a life-or-death struggle with Buu. Buu grabbed West by her legs and threw her into the mountain. West quickly got up. Suddenly, an enormous pink blob came up behind West and collapsed on top of her. East would have screamed, but found he could not as his wife was absorbed into the body of Buu. Buu had transformed and became slightly taller and slender. North Kaioshin ran forward, sword in hand and sliced Buu in half. He turned to face Bibidi and end his evil. However, out of the corner of his eyes, he saw Buu reforming. It was not long before Buu killed North. “No, North!” East cried out. He remembered Kid and carried him to a safe spot where Buu would not find him. “Gato, guard him with your life.” East ran back up the hill to see what was happening. South had begun battling Buu and was giving him a hard time. South fired an energy attack, causing a huge explosion. As the dust cleared, East let out a cry. Buu stood there missing an arm. South began making an attack, but he failed to look behind him. Just like West, he was absorbed into Buu. Yet again, the monster transformed, now as tall as South. His power was uncountable, off the charts. Bibidi laughed, then stopped when he saw East. Pointing at him, he cried, “Get that Kaioshin!” Buu disappeared, and then reappeared in front of East. East tried his hardest, but was no match for Buu, who easily pounded the god into the ground. He picked him back up and kicked him into the air. As East was soaring through the air, Buu appeared again to send him crashing back to earth. East landed on his stomach, unable to move. Buu landed next to him, creating a blast to finish him off. East cringed in fear, certain this was the end for him, but realized Buu had not fired yet. Suddenly, a sound reached his ears. The sound of a baby crying. Kid Kai! Buu smiled, then headed straight for the child. “NO!!!!” East cried out as Buu flew right at the thing he treasured most in this world. His only son. Buu stopped in front of Kid and watched with a smile as Gato grew to become enormous, as large as a horse. Gleaming fangs protruded from her mouth, the singular tail now five, as long as whips. Claws as long as steak knives came from paws the size of Buu’s head. Gato’s fur stood on end and a deep growl issued from her throat, daring Buu to come closer. Gato leaped at Buu, but she was knocked away as easily as a fly. Kid wailed even louder in distress and Bibidi felt an incredibly powerful energy wave come from the child, sending a chill through his veins. Confused and afraid, he screamed, “Buu, destroy that child!” Buu began to make a energy blast in his hand, causing Kid to cry louder. Hearing this, East somehow managed to pick himself up off the ground and raced as fast as his bloodied knees could carry him. He collapsed on top of Kid, using his own body as a shield. Buu laughed cruelly, and continued to make the blast. If I die, at least I’ll die knowing my son is safe. East Kaioshin thought, knowing it could be his last in this world. But the blast never came. East dared to look up and saw his savior. Master Kaioshin stood there. He had deflected the attack, saving both East and Kid’s lives. The god of gods took in a huge breath, then fired the beam from his mouth at Buu, blowing him to pieces. Master Kaioshin sighed, thinking it was over, but realized the pieces were regenerating around him. When Buu had finally absorbed him, he looked much like that of Master Kaioshin. Seeming to forget the still wailing baby and half-dead god behind him, Buu cried, “Buu want to eat! Now!” “Then let’s go and eat.” Bibidi said as he walked up to the now immense Buu. “Yay, food!” Buu cheered. Bibidi muttered a spell and the pair disappeared. East looked up, not believing what he had seen. But before he could think about it, the last of his strength left him and he fainted.

“Kaioshin, Kaioshin, wake up.” Kaioshin carefully raised his head and looked into the eyes of Kibito, one of the Grand Kai’s servants. ‘Wha-what happened?” “I healed you sir. I have been sent here to protect you.” With a start, Kaioshin remembered the past events of the day. “Kibito, where are the others? My wife….” Kibito looked down and shook his head. Kaioshin stared in shock, not fully believing he was the last. “Wait! Where’s my son!?” Kibito pointed to a small bundle in his arms on which Gato rested. Inside, Kid slept peacefully. Kaioshin sighed and took the babe from Kibito’s arms. “Well, it’s you and me now, son.” Being awoken, Kid began to cry, and Kaioshin waved his hand from side to side to comfort him. Kid stopped crying and looked up at him, as if asking where his mother was. Kaioshin felt a tear roll down his cheek. Wiping it away, he looked up at Kibito and nodded. Both of them knew what had to be done. They were alone on a barren planet with no one but each other for company. They had to put immortal and mortal souls to rest. By destroying Buu and Bibidi.

*****

A year later, Kaioshin and Kibito found Buu and Bibidi. Bibidi could no longer control his creation and had sealed him away till they reached their next destination. A planet covered mostly in water and the only planet in it’s system to hold life. Earth. There, the two caught up with the wizard and killed him, leaving the ball on Earth. Not knowing there was another who knew how to control evil…..
