Counters and Quick-Plays
By: Chaos Soldier
Hello, today I have for you all a featured column about Counter Traps & Quick-Play Magics.
Counter Traps
- Magic Jammer: It can stop an opponent's Magic card at a measly cost of one card in your hand. A very good card, possibly one of the best Counter Traps in the whole entire game! Semi-Staple card. You take out those Raigekis, Dark Holes, Pot of Greed, etc.
- 7 Tools of the Bandit: It can stop an opponent's Trap card at the INTERESTING cost of 1000 Life Points. A good card, also a Semi-Staple. You can stop Mirror Force, Waboku, Trap Hole, etc.
- Horn of Heaven: It can negate the summon of any of your opponent's monsters at the price of one monster on your side of the field. This counts for Normal Summons & Flip Summons. It's kind of like "an eye for an eye". To take out one of your opponent's monsters, you have to take out one of your own. Not the best Counter Trap, and NOT a Staple.
- Solemn Judgment: Its first effect is basically the same as Horn of Heaven's - it negates the summon of an opponent's monster. Although, Solemn Judgment can also negate the activation of an opponent's Magic card (which is a little like Magic Jammer). The drawback is that you have to pay half of your Life Points. Not a Staple, but a good card to put in your deck.
Quick-Play Magics
(note-I'm only going to list Quick-Play Magic cards that stand out more than the rest.)
- Mystical Space Typhoon: It can destroy one Magic/Trap card on the field. Good against any of the opponent's cards. Usable on opponent's turn. Semi-Staple, makes Magic Jammer & 7 Tools of the Bandit obselete.
- Rush Recklessly: It's a little like Reinforcements only that it powers up a monster by 700 points instead of 500, and it can be used on your turn. This card is GREAT! Semi-Staple, makes Reinforcements obselete.
- The Reliable Guardian: This acts like an Anti-Rush Recklessly because it raises your DEF by 700, which is 200 points better that Castle Walls. Not a Staple, makes Castle Walls obselete
- Tailor of the Fickle: It can switch one Equip card to another legal target. You can steal your opponent's Axe of Despair, Malevolent Nuzzler, Horn of the Unicorn, Megamorph, etc. Makes the duel tougher for the opponent. Good with Disruption decks, which focus around confusing the enemy long enough to wipe him/her out.
That's it for this Featured Column. See ya!
