Vegita carried Bulma up to her room, carefully putting her on her bed. He didn't know why, but he couldn't peel his eyes away from her. He couldn't make up his mind whether or not to take her to the hospital or not. 'Stupid weak humans.' Her skin was paler than normal, but not as pale as it is usually. Vegita's eyes swept over her body, accessing the damage. The black orbs came to rest on her left angle. It was bent inward, not in a normal way.'Broken,' he thought. He swore, not knowing what to do. He didn't want to touch it and cause her more pain. He had just turned away when he heard a soft moan. Whirling back around, Vegita found Bulma, awake, staring up at the ceiling.
"Bulma?" Vegita said. Bulma's baby blue eyes looked at him, dazed in pain. She said nothing. "Bulma," Vegita said again, this time more sternly. After a few seconds of silence, she finally answered him. "Why did you do it?" she asked, her eyes closing as she did so. "Do what?" Vegita frowned. "Do what.... Oh please Vegita, don't play innocent with me! I know what you did, so why don't you just confess it?" Vegita could feel his temper rising with her last comment. "Woman, I don't know what your talking about. You should be thanking me for rescuing you while I could've left you in the Training Capsule. Instead, you accuse me of doing something I didn't do. Now why don't you tell me what happened, so I at least know what I'm being accused of." He barked back at her. "Rescued..." Bulma repeated. Her eyes opened and met his black ones again. "You rescued me?" "Yes, now tell me what happened." "How did...no, WHY did you-" "WOMEN!" Vegita boomed. "I have asked you the same thing three times, now ANWER ME!" Vegita could see a spark of fire flare up in Bulma's eye. For a minute, it looked like she wasn't going to say anything. "I was climbing the ladder to go fix the wires AGAIN," she began, "when I felt someone pull on my foot. I was able to kick the person off, only to be grabbed again yanked. I lost my grip and fell, hitting my head on the ladder. I guess that's when I blacked out." "You also managed to break your ankle," Vegita mumbled. "WHAT?!" Bulma yelled, trying to sit up to get a better look. Vegita simply sat down beside her, grabbing her hands with his and pushing her back down on the bed. "No, let me see it," Bulma demanded, trying to push her way up again. Again, Vegita just shook his head and pushed her back down on the bed, holding her hands in his, pinning her there. "No, you might accidently move it sitting up. I'll help you look later. First tell me why you thought it was me." Vegita questioned.
Bulma tried to sit up again but Vegita's powerful fingers closed around hers, not allowing her any movement. She finally gave up and leaned back. Angry about the fact that he wouldn't let her up, Bulma lifted her blue eyes to meet his black orbs. When she did, she saw something in his eyes, something she couldn't quite put her finger on... 'Gentleness?' she wandered. 'No, Vegita would never be gentle with any creature, especially me.' Yet she couldn't seem to move, not even turn her eyes away. To make matters worse, she felt Vegita rubbing her thumb gently with his. "Are you going to answer my question?" Vegita's gentle (!!!) voice broke the silence. 'Question? What question?' Bulma thought. Her face must've betrayed what she was thinking, for the air was filled with Vegita's normal, sarcastic laugh.
"I asked why you thought it was me that pulled you off the ladder." Bulma's eyes widened before answering, her voice somewhat cool. "Because I saw black hair before I fell." "And that automatically makes me a suspect?" "Well, you were still outside when I went in, and you were made at me, so, basically, yea, it does."
Whatever gentleness Bulma held of Vegita's, it was definitely gone now. His facial expression hardened and his fingers gripped hers more tightly. She clasped her own fingers back around his desperately, aware that he probably didn't know his full strength and could easily break her fingers and/or hands.
"Women, you have a big mouth for someone as innocent-looking as you," Vegita charged. Her saw a blue fire flare up in her Bulma's eyes. "Oh, you bastard!" She screamed, trying to push herself up. Vegita laughed and let her hands go, standing up. "I speak the truth, women," and with that, he turned around and strode out of the room.
Bulma stayed where she was fore about a minute more. She cursed at him before getting up. She took one step on her left ankle when she felt a strong, very sharp pain shoot up through it. It felt like someone had just taken a sledge hammer to her ankle. Without another thought, she let out a shriek of pain, falling to the floor.
Vegita had made it halfway down the stairs when her heard a high-pitched woman's scream. Frowning, he turned around and bolted up the stairs, appearing in the doorway of Bulma's room again. He saw her sitting on the floor, crying. Knowing immediatly what had happened, Vegita walked over to her, bent down, and picked her up. He carried her into her bathroom, where he set her down on the toilet. Bulma continued to watch him, thriving in pain.
Vegita opened Bulma's cabinet, searching it for something to use. He found a medium-size white-painted medal box that had a red cross painted on it. He took it out and opened it. Seeing that it had medical stuff in it, he carried it back over to Bulma, kneeling in front on her. Vegita had never helped a person in this way before, so he was pretty much just guessing. He looked in the medical box again, trying to figure out what to use. His black orbs settled on some cloth-like thing that was rolled up. 'This should work,' he thought. He took the thing (ace bandage) out and unwrapped a little bit. Vegita then gently placed it on Bulma's ankle and proceeded to wrap it around and around until there was none left. He took another ace bandage and repeated the same process.
Bulma held her breath every time the wrap pulled tight on her ankle. It was killing her to the point that she would go crazy. She wanted to burst out in tears of pain or shriek out in agony, but for some reason, she couldn't. All she could do was sit there, bite her lower lip, and let silent tears stream down her face.
When Vegita was done with wrapping the second ace bandage, he stood up. Bulma thought that he was just going to leave, as he had always done every time he did the tiniest favor. Instead, he stood there for a second looking down at her before he finally bent and down and lifted her into his arm. Bulma wrapped her arms around his neck to keep from falling.
Vegita carried them back over to bed and laid down with her, resting her so that her head was on chest. He tenderly wrapped both of his arms around her, one hand stroking her sea-blue hair.
Bulma was shocked. Vegita was actually showing some sort of kindness. She wasn't sure if the tears she was crying were tears of pain or tears of thankfullness. All she could do was bury her head against his shoulder and let the tears that dampened them both fall. Some time later, she fell asleep.
While Bulma found rest, Vegita wasn't quite as lucky. He lay awake long after Bulma fell asleep. He continued to stroke her hair and hold her. Finally, he sighed and looked down at her. She was fast asleep. He carefully put one finger under chin and lifted it up so he could look at her face. It was still tear-stained. Vegita gently kissed both sides of her face before looking deep at her face again. "You are so beautiful," he murmured, well aware that she could not hear him. He gently lay her head down on him again, pulling her even closer. He closed his own eyes and eventually fall asleep.
