It is truly of one's own human nature to automatically (often brilliantly) delineate things in their own mind; it's the simple aspects which allow us to dichotomize the 'real' from the 'unreal'. While amid this often breath-taking experience, we as visionaries expand to greater heights within our own ideas; with this comes the birth of great thoughts, and further methods of storytelling. Thus, the visions which we imagine in turn reflect our everyday ideals and endless consuetudes. The human imagination is indeed a reflection of our prevailing surroundings. Many brilliant visionaries in our past history have dedicated their lives to bringing us such fantastical feats, spellbinding experiences and mindbending visualizations. While this is all well and true, others may attempt to take the existing ideas to heights unseen, places we've never been and journeys we couldn't ever possibly imagine.
Acting as the implement for travels of the imagination, for over 100 years now the motion picture has achieved this rather successfully; often controversially but still successfully. But I believe one thing is for certain; the world probably would not be the same without the presence of this technological and cultural innovation. The single tool which molds the inner-human emotion, a visionary cornerstone which has made the world successfully open to new technilogical boundaries. And as far as we stand amid the race to entertain, the bounds separating such notions remain limitless. This idea has had much time to spread across other places outside the 'silver-screen'. Several mediums like television, radio, magazines, newspapers and even comic books have allowed the vision of film to broaden it's horizons; spreading this method of storytelling to the masses West and East. Indeed, technology has reached new heights in so little time. With the birth of computers and the internet, many possibilities have now been attained. Moreover, who knows what the future will bring for the motion picture. It has prospered from the commencement of television to the premiere of the first theatrical feature. Movies have entertained us, made us laugh, cry and sometimes even think. They have even caused us to change history for the better or worse. Despite all this it appears that they are here to stay.
The definitive nature of entertainment lies within one's own 'inner-child'. What captivates us as youths will indeed stay with us onward and forever. We often view films never knowing them to be movies, but rather serving as an opportunity to appreciate an experience. Perhaps we can even learn from them. What has always truly captivated me as a young child about film was the magnificent world of animation. An alternative film medium in it's own right which manipulates the visual capacity of motion and expression through artistic rendering. Through this often painstaking process, animation film making succeeds in creating a unique world all it's own. It was once said that animation may not attempt to capture the essence true life, but rather mimic it; creating a unique visual emotion. This is the foremost reason why animation truly transcends the human emotion into something which "live-action" films could never hope to accomplish in the same manor. Pioneers like "Walt Disney" opened the doors for a new popular entertainment medium. Ever since the birth of "Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs" back in 1937, animation has captivated and entertianed countless viewers and ardent fans alike. Today it can be found most anywhere. Since the airing of such timeless classics like "Felix: The Cat", animation on television was here to stay. With the human mind, the visions of new opportunities for development and ideas begin at a very young age.
Animation has succored us into making that vision grow with many children as well as adults. This of course all began with the visionary achievements of 'good-ole' "Uncle Walt". The one who helped us not only to define a medium of film making, but in sculpting the true essence of animation vision yet to emerge. Pristine bellwethers follow the traditions of old and proceed to cogitate the ideas of the new, yet at the same time existing as the canonical leaders for animation of the new age. Both their incredible aptitude, committal and inspiration to entertain continues to be the driving force of new ideas in animation film making. A medium which is fun, engaging yet always profound. Thank you animators for continuing to fuel the spirit of imagination, it exists within the child and always beyond. In color, motion and aeons....
