Synopsis:

It is a mystical and powerful time of magic corruption. The manipulation and misguidance of sorcery has caused the huge existent force of "Big Mama" (That's right,... "Big Mama"!) to evoke upon the continent of "Spooner", the abilities and special means of justice brought forth upon the land by the skillful yet often maladroit efforts of the group known as the "Sorcerer Hunters". A band of heros engulfed into their own idealizm of crime-fighting, magic-skills and means of promoting peace in the lands through way of their ruling counterpart. But like most common bonds between the aspects of promoting justice throughout the lands, there always arises the likely sibling-rivalry as well as corrupt infatuation between distinctive comrads.... But alas?, could these possible distinctive underlyings be product of the basic formulimatic undertone of cliched super-heros, as so well established in the common "Sailor Moon", "BGC" or other realms of imagination pertaining to these instances? If not, in the distinctive anime-genre sense; what you have product of is the foundation of highly entertaining character interaction between sibling and hero comrads. It's these aspects which give rise to such great series like "Sorcerer Hunters". A story which is not afraid to acknowledge this mere fact of entertainment value; transforming it in such a manor to escape it's common skepticism of something non-reminiscent of in-depth storyline approaches.

Review:

Anyway, to make a long-complicated statement short (which is so well non-established to this particular series' tone), "Sorcerer Hunters" is a series to be enjoyed. But this basic premise does not overlook the fact that it is indeed, a series with often in-depth and Sorcerer Huntersconsiderably complicated characters; which is often not a factor with these types of animes. Rather than making it's plethora of interactions and characters product of the cliche or the risible, a series like Sorcerer Hunters utilizes it's undeniably enjoyable factors. One done to the extent of such amazing execution. It's often hard to accept it's modest brilliance in entertainment value. Take some of the most ludicrous, ultra-convention rendered characters in all of anime and place them into a innovatively artistic blender of both cliche and outrageous humor; what you have in the end is Sorcerer Hunters. A blundered yet vastly energetic comedy with plenty of substance and a lot of heart. But what always makes a series like Sorcerer Hunters work is not only it's artistic idealization, it's indeed the characters. And that aspect is something which this series never fails to execute with a dash of riotous anime fun.

"Carrot Glace" (I know what your thinking, "Carrot Clace"?) is the unlikely central hero of the Sorcerer Hunters; a band of skillful magic users who evoke justice to those using these methods for evil purposes. Along with him durring his quest are Carrot's younger brother "Marron", a headstrong of the group "Gateau" as well as the disguisedly beautiful "Chocolate" and "Tira Misu". All of them guided by the graceful and sterling presence of "Big Mama", dedicated in putting to an end the evil rein of "Zaha Horte". Sorcerer Hunters is a series which is considerably fitted to it's technical and production styles. Though not in any sense a masterpiece by far, it's one done through solid animation and design.

But a series like Sorcerer Hunters is one engulfed into an array of farcical instances and screwball comedy, courtesy of the often unmistakable deviant antics of Carrot throughout the series. Which is a cross between insane kinky-romance and borderline-ecchi rendering, done to a mild extent of course; which is undeniably hilarious at times. Despite maintaining a screw-ball comedy feel like that of "Slayers" or "Ranma 1/2", Sorcerer Hunters is a series that wants to be taken seriously. It's the presence of the wonderfully rendered characters which makes a series like this one stay afloat. Right down to the insane occurrences of it's most notably ludicrous antics. Some of which are product through characters like Carrot, whom are insane and serious in matters of minutes; right down to the interaction of characters like "Chocolate" and "Tina", whom one minute can decide whether they are head-over-heels for Carrot or wish to put halts to his self-made farcical personality. It's something that is often amazing to witness amidst a genre-bending plot already too familiar for it's own good. Nonetheless, you can never help but marvel about what's going to happen next. This is product of the series' own impeccable sense of comedic pacing. Which in turn works well both ways through it's semi-dramatic moments. Simply knowing that these instances are inevidably not permanent, is something of a wonder reminiscent of earlier anime parodies. Which to certain extents, something that "Sorcerer Hunters" dignifies with a distinctive artistic ability, elated through such entertaining characters.

It's all the reason to recommend a series like "Sorcerer Hunters". An anime comedy with style, substance and a touch of the whimsically structure for extra flavor. An aspect which the series is never afraid to establish, nonetheless dignify through insane fun. It's for this reason I've never really thought too critical of this one, however the least I can say is simply check it out for yourself. I'll tell you one thing though, it sure works toward some great laughs once and awhile.
