Catharsis
by Lockheart
You left me behind.
And at that moment, the brilliant moon was devoured, the twinkling stars were vanquished, never to dare present themselves again.
Thick fog, settling over the lands, melancholy almost tangible, the poison of hate slowly flowing through my veins, until I was all you wished me not to be.
Too blind to see through the mist, too weak with bitterness to walk, deaf with oblivion and disbelief, so much so that I couldn't see you, hear you, feel you.
Rotting like a corpse, mind, heart, soul eroding. A shell, sweet in foulness.
I want to come. I want to come with you, join you.
Why did you leave me behind?
Don't you see?
Don't you see me anymore, don't you care about me anymore?
Take me with you. Don't abandon me.
Save me.
Save me from the depths of vengeance, save me from the chasm I am plummeting through. Never-ending, fearing the start, fearing the end, too low to see the light; too high to see the ground.
Save me from myself.
Salvage me, from the ruins of self-loathing. I beg of you.
Bring me to you.
Don't leave me.
I couldn't be with you. I didn't know you were there, because I didn't let myself know you were there.
But now I do. I want to. I want to see you; I know you're there, somewhere.
Where?
Show me. Light up my path.
Bring me to your world.
Let me see again, let me feel again, let me hear again, let me run again.
Let me walk with you, stay with you, forever and ever.
Let me soar the heavens, swim the seas, travel the lands.
Let me smile, let me laugh, let me weep.
Bring me where you go, take me with you, stay by my side, and I will, yours.
Set me free.
I see you now.
You're standing, smiling, laughing.
An angel, perfect beyond perfection. You're flying; your wings will take you everywhere; anywhere.
Let your wings take me, as well.
Dancing around me, a shadow, a reflection.
…A reflection?
Of what?
Memories. Wishes. Hope.
Happiness.
…Happiness?
Flashes of light.
A cheeky high-school student, concealing determination of the highest commendation. A violet haired girl, smiling, getting up after being knocked down, refusing to give up. A punk-like young man, never showing tears. Boys don't cry. Going down on his knees, begging, pleading-sobbing, to save love. A cheerful thirteen-year-old, possessing wisdom far beyond his years; amazing talent.
And a girl, smiling indulgently, so similar, so alike…
No.
No, don't…
Come to me. Help me, save me, show me. I want to go where you go.
Tears?
Why are you crying? Don't cry…
You're fading… why are you fading?
You're… going away? You're leaving?
No! Don't leave me.
Don't abandon me.
Don't leave me here, to sink deeper and deeper into confusion and pain.
Please, no! Don't go!
I'm on my knees, begging.
Don't refuse my only request; my only catharsis…
…But you're gone.
Gone, without looking back.
…How…
…Why…
You left me.
You left me, again.
You denied me life.
Denied me death.
Denied me my final catharsis.
