Magic User's Club's character designs are beautiful. The animation is top notch too. The colors are bright and the picture is sharp. Nothing to complain about here.
Story/Entertainment
An alien race known only as "the Bell" has appeared. The only thing is, they don't really seem to be a harmful race. They just send out observer-like black balls that do just that - observe. They haven't attacked earth, so, earth hasn't attacked them. People just go on with their daily lives and there is an occasional black ball floating in the sky or down near the streets, viewing earth.
Sae, the main character, has a crush on Takeo, the president of the Magic User's Club. Takeo also has feelings for Sae. However, neither of them have the strength to tell eachother how they feel.We have 3 more characters in the club. Nanaka, Sae's best friend. Akane, who is always out on a date rather than practicing with the club. And finally we have Aburatsubo. He is very popular and is in a lot of clubs at school. We also have some other interesting characters such as the president of the manga club who has some rather large "assets" and likes to tease Takeo.
Takeo feels it's their duty to get rid of the Bell. During the course of the show, we get to see the members of the club practice their magic and stop the bell from bothering people. They usually do this by trying to turn the Bell into something else (like a broom) or just make it disappear with magic. In the end, the show comes to a great conclusion and wraps most things up nicely. Information about the Bell is left a mystery and we don't really learn anything about them. While getting the Bell to leave earth is the goal of the Magic User's Club, it seems to have taken a backseat to the characters.
And Magic User's Club has some great characters. They are full of life and character. In the end, that is what makes the show so much fun, the characters. Their interactions, situations and dialogue make Magic User's Club what it is.
