The Non-Adventures of Genki Goth is the tentative title of a long- running collaborative story role-played out between me and my friend Chelsea. The basic setting is the normal nine-to-five world, in an unspecified American city, during a time near our own. Beneath the surface of this world, however, is a mythology similar in some respects to Christianity: a single asexual God with thousands of angels, and Lucifer (Keias) opposing It with other fallen angels. Also abroad in this world is a mysterious organization known as the Community of Human Angels and Demons (CHAD), people with strange powers who are able to live for thousands of years, and often work with the angels and fallen angels as observers of humanity. The story starts with Alison Devar, a normal teenage girl who lives with her mother and dreams of becoming a doctor. On the third day of her third year of high school, during her third-period class, a small, black- haired, black-eyed girl named Shiko shows up, and the transformation of Alison’s life begins. Shiko is a member of the Community, and her arrival is soon followed by those of Angelico Watcher (Sanshoar), the new Latin teacher cum angel, and Damien Argent (Shalohim), a transfer student and fallen angel. The three have known each other for years; in fact, before Shalohim Fell, he and Sanshoar were lovers. The following incidents concern a time after Shiko, Sanshoar, and Shalohim have revealed their true identies to Alison, and include three other characters from earlier in the story: Kallahandra, another Community member; Rachel, a friend of Alison’s; and Josh, a street kid picked up by San and currently living with Shiko.
