When Ken was younger, he found a Digivice with his brother. The Digivice belonged to Ken, but Osamu thought that it was meant for him. A little after his adventure into the Digital World with Ryou, Ken received an e-mail, and ventured to the Dark Ocean. His Digivice turned into a black D-3 once he dipped it into the water. Ken then becomes the Kaizer, a cruel person who cares nothing for the Digimon inhabiting the Digital Word, but only about controlling it as his own. He doesn't even care about his partner, Wormmon, who still loyally follows Ken's orders. It's only when Wormmon dies in Ken's arms that he comes to realization of what's happened. He returns home and sleeps for a few days, and when he awakens he returns to the Digital World, and to the Primary Village where he finds Wormmon's egg, of which Leafmon hatches out. He once again returns home, realizing how much his family loves him. He has to work to earn the trust of the rest of the Chosen Children, which takes awhile, but they all finally come to trust him, even Iori.
