Our Daily Bread

The second episode starts off with an officer of the National Police's Anti-Terrorism team going home to his family of wife and two children.  Moments after a heart-warming home welcome of the officer and entering into their residence, the house was blown to bits.  The scene then changes.

We now see Kirika and Mireille out on the street, shopping.  As would any couple of girls on their day off from assassinating people.  Upon going home, she got words (or email) about another job that they would do.  Later on in a restaurant outside, Kirika notices the TV talking about the officer being killed.

The scene then changes to the funeral of the officer where the priest's prayer sounds very similar to that of the introduction speech about Noir.  A man walks up to another attending the funeral and wanting to talk to him, evidently, about the dead officer.  Going back to the car to talk, we now find out who the officer is (where I mentioned it earlier) and that this is the third person of the GIGN [France's counter-terrorism Special Ops Force] officers whom got killed.  What more, they feel that someone in the department is leaking information to the outside, letting the terrorist know who the officers are and where they live.  (Sounds like a movie that you've seen, eh?)  After some more discussion, an investigation is to be started immediately.

Now we see Kirika and Mireille walking into an alley, into Mireille's home I presume.  Kirika is carrying loaf of bread up the stairs as she follows Mireille who checks her slow mail.  They went up the stairs into their very spacious apartment.  Kirika opens the window the first thing and looks out into France as she leans against the balcony.  She looks forlorn and lonely... thoughtful perhaps.  She then reaches into her pocket and takes out the watch that carries the symbol of Noir, twin maiden of death.  Meanwhile, Mireille is on her computer, checking out her emails and information about their next job.  She complains nothing is simple anymore.

Moving on, the two girls are now in a tiny kitchen and we see Kirika peeling a potato with the knife.  When Mireille asked her to pass the knife, she picks it up by the handle and expertly flipped it so the handle part goes to Mireille first.  Mireille just stared at how she did it for a while and wonders how dangerous Kirika really is...  I do love this scene!  Kirika holding a potato is so cute and deadly ^_^

At the dinner table, Kirika still looks sad and here, Mireille said "Our daily bread.  A sign of God's generosity.  How about trying to enjoy the food a little more?"  Kirika replies that she does like the food, but her expression remains the same.  Does she ever smile?!

After dinner, Mireille waters a plant that she keeps in her apartment.  Perfectly normal girls like I said!  Just have jobs as assassin.  She then sees the pocket watch beside the plant and the soft melody begins and flashback starts.  Of the time that she and Kirika sits together on the small table in Kirika's house and talk of what Kirika  knows of herself and of Mireille.  Now, layer two of flashback starts, of when Mireille is but a little girl, watching something horrible as she holds on to her teddy bear.  She had such big eyes!  Kind of like the eyes of Clamp girls <grins>  But, don't know what it signifies at this point.  Flashback ends.

New music starts and we are now at a high class restaurant, we see a man sitting down next to another and begins to talk.  The man thanks the person sitting behind him, that because of him, they were able to kill three GIGN officers.  The man behind him just asked about the money.  Upon looking at the guy who wants money, we know that it's the man in the funeral this morning that was entrusted with the responsibility of investigating the murders of the GIGN officer.

He is actually the head of France's National Security Bureau, Jean-Jacques LeGrand.  Along with him is the man that he was meeting with, Pierre Cressoit, leader of the right-wing terrorist group, National Armed Alliance.  Both of them are now targets of Noir because LeGrand sold Cressoit the roster of GIGN.  In this scene, Mireille is telling Kirika who they are and why they should die.

Kirika still doesn't look happy.

[Commercial?]

Scenes of where LeGrand and Cressoit are located are played.  We see the Noir team spying on LeGrand and Cressoit in a fast food restaurant across from the fancy one.  Scene changes again and we see Cressoit's house as Noir team walks across the front gate, Mireille looks so sexy!

Back in Mireille's apartment, she lays down a blueprint of Cressoit's mansion and determines how they are to enter the place.  And an email is sent back to the assassination request that noir will take the case.

We now see a desolated place with ruins, with a eerie/holy chanting music that plays in the beginning played in the background.  In a field of grapes, we see a shadow of a girl? picking at the grape, am assuming that she is one of the antagonist.  Then a scene of church and a girl writing.

Again, the scene changes, we are now underground in the sewer with Kirika and Mireille.  Seems like Mireille wanted to test out Kirika's shooting skills.  In my opinion, Kirika is better since she fired faster ^_^

In the next scene, LeGrand goes to visit Cressoit in his house.  Cressoit tell LeGrand that he captured a member of the group and that he admits that to eliminate them, they've hired assassins.  And that he confesses that the group has hired Noir.  LeGrand freaks out at hearing the name and talks of how they used to use Noir for special assignments.

And we now see Noir infiltrates the mansion and Cressoit saying that they'd be ready since they know Noir is coming.  Gunfire heard, the group moves out to get ready, but... most are dead already.  Mireille works alone and the really cool background music is played.  All I gonna say fer this part is, noir kicked butt =)  Go look at the gallery.

After, as Mireille and Kirika walks down the river back home, Mireille comments on how good the weather will be.  And Kirika looks as downcast as ever and said "Our daily bread... Murder is my provision... but, why am I not sad?" as tears falls down her cheeks.
