Role in the Story: This is the main character and hero of my story. For the beginning of her life, she lived happily deep in the ancient forests in the small village of Tess Grotta. Gavin was her regular playmate. However, when she was about 14, Malus ordered the Tess Grotta massacre, and her parents were killed in the turmoil. Witnessing the death of her parents unleashed a dormant power inside of her, and in her rage she eradicated many of the soldiers that attacked her village. Few survivors stumbled off, dumbfounded. This newfound power enabled her to use her father's claramina staff, which could produce a blade of light energy connected to the lifeforce of the one who wielded it. Only the most advanced of warriors could produce the Claramina, and none had ever achieved this feat without the training of Terratur. Terratur sensed Feron's burst of power, and knew that she was the new Protector of the Earthly Realm. Heartbroken and overflowing with anger, hatred, and confusion, Feron retreated into the forest, living with nature and keeping vicious guard over the rebuilt Tess Grotta. Eight years passed since the Tess Grotta massacre, at which time Aurea appears at the village, on her mission from Terratur to find the Protector. She encounters Feron on her way through the ancient forests, and the two have a tremendous battle after Feron refuses to let Aurea pass without revealing her business in the village. Aurea ends up with a blade to her throat, at which time she is forced to reveal that she is representing Terratur, and searching for the Protector. Witnessing Feron's skill with a claramina proves enough to convince Aurea, so the two make the journey to Terratur's school. Once Feron arrives at the school, the hero's adventure truly begins as she must protect the Earthly realm from Terratur and his army of dark beings.
Personality: Feron gives new meaning to the term "strong, silent type." Her personality and view of life will change drastically from the beginning to the end of her quest. A major theme of Tess Grotta: Ascent From Darkness is Feron's transition from hatred to compassion (while Malus's transition is exactly the opposite: from compassion to hatred). She starts out as being short tempered, brash, and secluded. However she is deeply touched by those that she meets during her journey. Aurea provides unrelenting friendship to her, an attribute she had not had since her childhood with Gavin. Somnia admires her with a child-like ambition that makes Feron feel important and needed. And finally, with the return of an adult Gavin, she experiences love for the first time in her life. By journey's end, she is a very passionate (yet still relatively silent) character, and is a better person as a result of it.
Fighting Techniques: Her weapon is a blue claramina. She excels in ground and aerial combat due to her tremendous speed and reaction time. She is capable of firing multiple small blasts or a larger, more powerful beam of light energy from her staff, however neither of these long range weapons are particularly accurate. Due to the length of her staff, she has difficulty fighting in confined spaces, however is unsurpassed in forest or wooded area melee.
