Takaishi Takeru was the happiest man on earth. He was in love, deeply in love in fact. Nothing could ever take away from the love that he was feeling… from the love that was brought to him by pure miracle. He would've never been friends with the boy in the first place. They were complete opposites. At first, only bonding because of the fact that they both knew Yagami Hikari. But after a few weeks Takeru knew that his love was true. He was in fact in love with Motomiya Daisuke. Later on the two boys became best friends. They would do everything together, between saving the digital world and having sleepovers. Takeru felt himself falling even more in love with him every day that passed. Soon, it had become too much and he finally confessed his love to Daisuke. He was incredibly pleased to find that Motomiya Daisuke loved him just as much as he did. For a while Takeru thought it was too good to be true. I mean, how could he and Daisuke just get together like that? First of all, before the relationship neither boy knew that they were gay. Second of all, how could they confess this to their friends? It was obvious that the two boys were best friends, but lovers? How would the others perceive them? They were worried, so they decided to keep their relationship private for a while. However, Hikari found out one day when she walked in on them kissing. Needless to day, she was more then shocked. She accepted them though, and was happy that they were happy. Eventually Takeru and Daisuke announced to their family and friends that they were gay and seeing each other. It was a little harder to explain it to Patamon and Veemon, for they didn't understand the concept. After explaining it to them, they understood, and were happy for their two best human friends. In fact, all took it well and the two boys couldn't be happier. Now, Daisuke was on his way to Takeru's apartment, for their evening get-together. Takeru was more then excited, he couldn't wait. For tonight was their five-year anniversary. Five years of being best friends and so deeply in love that sometimes they couldn't breathe. Five years of love so unconditional that sometimes they found it hard to believe. Hard to believe that such great things could happen to such people as them. This is what Takeru pondered as he sat in the living room waiting for Daisuke, present in hand. Two minutes later the doorbell rang, and Takeru nearly fell over himself in order to get to the door.
"Daisuke-kun!" He exclaimed, and he glomped Daisuke on sight. "Happy Anniversary!"
"Takeru…I…can't…breathe!"
"Hehe… sorry Daisuke-kun!" Daisuke took the time to collect himself and catch a breath, then smiled mischievously.
"So, are you gonna let me come in, and slip into something, how you say, comfortable?" Daisuke wiggled his eyebrows in a suggestive way and Takeru couldn't help but laugh.
"Sure, come on in." Takeru quickly ushered Daisuke in, and without a Daisuke dropped himself down on the couch.
"So, I rented some movies for tonight Takeru-chan. I have 'Scream' 1, 2, and 3, 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'…"
"Dai! You know I hate horror movies! They give me nightmares!"
"I know Takeru… but I was hoping that you'd get scared during the movie and glomp the closest person to you…" Takeru chuckled.
"You are just too cute Daisuke…" he said, plopping down on the couch next to Daisuke. Daisuke grinned.
"I know…"
"So do you have any other movies Dai-chan?"
"Yeah… but I really wanna watch a horror movie!" Daisuke whined.
"Well to bad. What other movie do you have?"
"'Dude, where's my car?'" Takeru grinned.
"I LOVE that movie!" he exclaimed. Daisuke sighed.
"Fine… we'll watch the stupid comedy movie…"
"Aww come on Dai! You know you love this movie! You said so yourself, that the two of us are like Jessie and Chester!"
"Yeah…"
"And," Takeru continued, "We even do the make out scene, just like they do…" Daisuke perked up.
"I guess you do have a point there, TA" he teased, making fun of Takeru's childhood nickname. Takeru frowned and put his hand on Daisuke's forehead.
"Are you feeling ok? Did you forget how to spell T.K. again? Ya know, it's not that hard Daisuke. It's a T, and then a K. I mean, even Taichi can spell it when he's stark drunk. Sure, he says it more like 'TEEEEK', but that's beside the point! At least he doesn't say 'TEEEEA' or 'TEEEEW' or something like that. That'd be kind of dumb… But anyway, back to the point… Wait. What was I talking about?" Daisuke just smiled and shrugged.
"Well anyway, we're watching 'Dude, where's my car?' and that's that!"
"I like it when you get feisty Takeru-chan…" Daisuke stated, leaning over and putting his arms around Takeru.
"Now, now Dai-chan, that's for later. I have to let the strawberries and whipped cream defrost first!" Daisuke was astonished.
"TAKERU!" he exclaimed. Takeru laughed.
"A joke Daisuke, it was a joke."
"Oh… well, now that I think about it, it doesn't seem like such a bad idea…"
"DAI!" Daisuke just laughed. Pretty soon both boys were laughing, falling all over each other, tears streaming down their face. After about 5 minutes of laughing, they ended up with Takeru sitting on the couch, Daisuke's head in his lap. Takeru sat there, content, and played with the brown locks of hair on top of Daisuke's head.
"Dai?"
"Hmm?"
"Have you ever…" Daisuke sat up and looked Takeru in his deep blue eyes.
"Ever what Takeru-chan?"
"Have you ever wondered if things could ever get better?" Although this was nothing new, Daisuke was confused.
"Better then what?"
"Then this Dai. Better then the two of us together, happy, and loved by everyone surrounding us? Better then being able to save the world so easily and making some great friends along the way? Better then-"
"Shhh…" Daisuke interrupted, and put his finger to Takeru's lips.
"No Takeru-chan, I can honestly say that I have never wondered about things like that, you know why?"
"Why?"
"Because things can't get better." Takeru smiled.
"Thanks Dai-chan."
"Don't worry about it. Love ya!" Takeru and Daisuke hugged.
"I love you too Daisuke-chan. Don't ever leave me…"
"I promise Takeru… I'll never leave. I mean, seriously, haven't you learned that you can't get rid of me that easily?"
"Oh yeah, I learned the hard way…" he said, recalling his days fighting with Daisuke over Hikari. Daisuke laughed.
"Good. Now lets watch that movie." As Daisuke got up to pop the movie into the VCR, Takeru let out a content sigh. Daisuke is right. he thought, Nothing can ever get better then this…
