` Yui Hongo is
the best friend of Miaka and together they discovered the "Shi Jin Ten
Chi Sho". Yui is very smart and bright and she was accidentally pulled
into the book along with Miaka and the first time. When the two appearred,
Suzaku sent Yui back out because it was a mistake. Yui stayed in the library,
reading the story as it happens to Miaka inside the book. She realized
that they school uniforms were a link between the two of them and whatever
happened to Miaka happened to Yui.
Yui was pulled
back into the book by Seiryuu when Miaka came out. During that time, three
months passed in the book world while only a few hours happened in
the real world of the mikos. Yui was attacked in the bum area of Kotou
country and she thought she was raped. Nakago, Kutou's shogun, saved her
before it could happen but he told her she was raped anyways. Yui turned
suicidal, thinking she was dirty but Nakago saved her, not letting her
die. Through his lies and stories, Nakago convinced Miaka was to blame
for all of Yui's sadness and anger so Yui became the Seiryuu no miko.
Yui acts on
facts rather than instinct. She believes the stories she's told but not
when her inner feelings warn her otherwise. Nakago plays on this and always
have the perfect lie with plenty of facts to support that Miaka is Yui's
enemy. Yui also loves Tamahome but I think it was because of having the
competition with Miaka because Tamahome loves Miaka. Yui never gives up
fighting Miaka in the book world. She is led by Nakago's deceptions and
she believes nakago will take care of her. Yui really is a nice warm hearted
girl but circumstances warped her mid and made her into a total bitch.
Luckily, Miaka was able to save her before it was too late and Yui realizes
her past faults in the end.
