Tomite was one
of the remaining seishi who guarded the Shinzaho at Mount Black in Hokkan
Country. 200 years ago in the book world's time, Hokkan was enaged in a
war with Kotou and the Genbu no Miko, Takiko
Okuda, summoned the animal god, Genbu to bring peace to the land forever.
Tomite is young and courageous and
one of the stronger Genbu seishi. He looks up to fellow seishi, Hikitsu
as a mentor and older brother. Tomite harbors great respect for his fellow
Genbu Seishi, Hikitsu, and the two of them have a great relationship which
lasts ovre 200 years after their deaths.
Tomite is very loyal to his miko since
he dedicated himself to protect her sacred Shizaho on Mount Black. Along
with Hokitsu, their spirits guard the Shinzaho until Miaka and her Suzaku
seishi come for it. Tomite shot ice arrows at the intruders which Tasuki
melted with his tessen. When attacked back, Hikitsu and Tomite weren't
affected since they were spirits and already dead. They tested Miaka and
found that she was a true Miko, possessing the power of a Miko and of Suzaku.
Tomite then had to respect Miaka’s wishes, and he and Hikitsu willingly
turned the Shinzaho over to her.
After Miaka
gets the Shinzaho, Tomite's duty to protect the Shinzaho is over so his
spirit finally ascends to the heavens.
