Chichiri
is the cheerful, mysterious, and strange monk and is the fourth Suzaku
seishi to appear to the group. He first appearred to save Miaka from
Kotou asassins. He kidnaps her and brings her to safety and Miaka calls
him Mr. Fox because his eyes resembled a fox's face. He warns her and leaves
behind his straw monk hat after shrinking into chibi form and disappearring
into it. Miaka piclks it up and puts it. When she was attacked again, suddenly,
two extra arms pop out and fights of the assassins. Chichiri then pops
out from the hat and introduces himself.
Chichiri can
be either silly or serious. He appears constantly happy by wearing a smiling
mask over his face, which he controls magically with a spell. He pulled
off his face in front of Miaka and it freaked her out really bad. He also
adds on a cute "no da" (you know) to the end of every single sentence he
speaks, which disguises his emotions and makes him seem continually cheerful.
He appears happy with his mask on and he takes it off when he's sad or
serious. The story behind the mask is when chichiri was ninteen, he was
enaged but he saw his best freind kissing his fiance. Chichiri was into
a rage and he fought his best freind. His friend fell into a river, high
during a rainy season, and he couldn't swim. Chichiri grabbed his friend's
hand but a branch smacked against his face, ripping out his eye. Chichiri
accidently let go of his freind's hand and he was swept away and drowned.
Chichiri wears the mask to cover his face because the scar frightens people
and it is a reminder of his past.
Chichiri is
very powerful because he can manipulate chi in various ways. Also he studies
magic with Taiitsu-kun for three years so he can use that quite well. He
can transform himself to look like other people and communicate using his
magic. *See Chichiri pose as Nakago!!*
He
uses his kesa (cape) as a flying carpet or as a portal when they have to
travel somewhere.
Chichiri likes
to travel alot and explore. Tasuki follows along with him after the series
ended. Tasuki and Chichiri are very good friends because Chichiri keeps
Tasuki and his mouth out of trouble.
***Did you notice that Chichiri
resembles the Ancient One from Ronin Warriors? I mean, the whole attire
looks very very similiar tn the Ancient One's. The staff with the rings
that looks similiar, too. The hat they both wear. Maybe they're related
or studying the same thing. Or maybe Chichiri is another descendent of
the Ancient One's clan!
