Amiboshi
is the second of the Seiryuu Seishi to appear. Amiboshi pretends to be
the Suzaku Seishi Chiriko, and joins the Suzaku Seishi and Suzaku
No Miko, Miaka. Nakago sent him as a spy to kill the Suzaku no miko and
her seishi and to make sure they never call Suzaku. However, he was accepted
into the group and treated kindly.
During the Suzaku summoning ceremony, Amiboshi disrupts it by playing his
flute but the real Chiriko appears and stops him. Amiboshi flees and is
chased by tamahome and Tasuki. Miaka and Chichiri later appears when Amiboshi
to trapped by a river bank with no way out. Miaka asks him why he tried
to kill them and tries to convince that he's still their friends but Amiboshi
slips and falls into the rapids, swept away.
He later reappears,
pretending to have lost his memory. Amiboshi uses the name "Kaika" and
lives with an elderly couple who has lost their own son named Kaika. Amiboshi
and his adoptive family find Miaka and take care of her. Miaka discovers
Amiboshi never lost his memory and Amiboshi tries to help unite Miaka with
Tamahome again.
Amiboshi has
a younger twin brother, Suboshi, who is also a Seiryuu Seishi. Amiboshi
loves Suboshi very much and he is always kind and gentle toward his brother.
Being twins, the two share a strong bond of mind and body. Amiboshi wants
the best for his little brother and asks him to join him in his new family
but Suboshi is in love with Yui so he chose not to stay. Suboshi tricks
Amiboshi into drinking a forgetfulness potion and brings Amiboshi back
so he could have a happy life full of peace and love.
Amiboshi is
a gentle, thoughtful, open, and honest. He plays beautiful music on his
flute and it helps him bring cheer to its listeners. He is calm and
caring to all he meets, and tries seeing the good in just about anyone.
Amiboshi can be protective and naive, but his good heart carries him through
just about any situation he encounters.
Amiboshi doesn't
like wars because Kutou country is always ravaged by war, and when Amiboshi
was a little boy, he and his brother Suboshi lost their parents in a civil
war. Amiboshi raised Suboshi himself, and both were affected by the difficulties
of poverty. Amiboshi grew understanding, kind, and wise through his hard
life, and desired to put an end to war so there would be no more sad children
like him and his brother. Amiboshi's belief of peace will come to the world
was used by Nakago to entice him that with the summoning of Seiryuu, peace
will finally come and there will no be more wars. But Amiboshi saw Nakago
for what he was and left the Seiryuu seishi.
Amiboshi truly
wishes he was a Suzaku seishi because of all the kindness he saw and felt
there. The Suzaku no miko and seishi accepted him and treated him like
a true friend. They were the ones who wanted peace and happiness. Amiboshi
also has feelings for Miaka because of her light and her belief in him.
***My friends and I were thinking
it would have been really great conflict in the story if Amiboshi was a
Suzaku seishi and Suboshi was a Seiryuu seishi and because of their brotherly
love for each other, it would have made the story more interesting.
