"I am not wearing that!"
"Yes, you are!"
"I am not!"
"Fine! I'll just go tell him, you're not interested in getting married today."
"You wouldn't!"
"Watch me!"
"All right, give me the damn thing!"
Stomp! Stomp! Slam!
Sally Po winced, as the door vibrated. For the thousandth time that day, she wondered why she ever agreed to do this. Getting the brides dressed and ready was proving to be a tougher assignment than running a team of freedom fighters.
Dorothy Catalonia came down the steps and walked over to her. At the look on Sally's face, Dorothy raised an eyebrow in an expression that sharply reminded Sally of Treize.
"Everything is ready on my end. How are you doing?" She asked, as she smoothed the front of her yellow silk dress.
"Almost there. There was a minor dust up about our gown." Sally grinned. Dorothy hid a smirk behind a hastily raised hand.
"Both of them being difficult."
"No, that ONE is just being more stubborn than usual. Its' been one battle after another."
Dorothy laughed, "Well, just twenty minutes to go."
Sally uttered a heartfelt, "Thank God!"
Dorothy just laughed harder. Waving, she turned and went back upstairs.
The church was lovely, everyone agreed. The altar of the church had been draped with cream colored silk. Vases of red and yellow roses were spaced evenly along the two parts of the altar. Two candelabrums with three candles each were placed directly behind the altar.
The guests as they arrived and signed in, were escorted to their seats by tuxedo wearing men. Once everyone was seated. Two men went to the back of the church and pulled a roll of cloth across to the aisle. Gripping the corners, they unrolled the runner of creamy silk and hauled it behind them up the aisle, they laid the runner down and carefully walked along the edges, being careful to not step on it.
"Its' time." Rashid said. Praise Allah! He thought, as he marshaled the two grooms and Howard; who, he glared at. Howard, serving as the other best man was wearing his ever present Bermuda shorts. Rashid ushered the others out the door of the room, they had been waiting in. He was glad this was almost over with, if he had to watch the grooms make one more circuit of the room, he was simply going to shoot them.
The grooms with their attendants took their places, as the minister in the person of Hilde Bird took hers. The company rose and turned to face the double doors, as the brides appeared. The brides were dressed in identical gowns of ivory silk with empire waists and white lace veils. The leaner of the two brides had a slender hand resting on the arm of Millardo Peacecraft, and the other bride rested a hand on the arm of Treize Kushrenada.
Catherine Bloom played the piano, as Trowa sang. The brides reached the sides of their grooms, as Trowa let the last note fade away. He glowed proudly, as he watched the unions taking place in front of him.
Hilde motioned the company to be seated. Then, taking a deep breath, she began.
Duo barely heard the service, he was captivated by the figure beside him, and the promise that was about to be fulfilled.
Quatre squeezed the hand of his bride, and oblivious to the crowd watching, mouthed I love you at the shrouded form. The ones quick enough to see the action smiled indulgently. Rings were exchanged, along with their solemn vows.
Two separate candles were lit and used to light a single candle, to symbolize the coming together of two to make one.
Relena Peacecraft grasped Dorothy's hand, as she blinked misty eyes.
Lucrezia Peacecraft leaned over and whispered to Une Kushrenada. "I wonder how they got them into those dresses."
"Not easily, I would imagine." Une whispered back, as the grooms began to lift their bride's veils.
Hilde discretely smiled, as aqua and cobalt blue eyes met and held. And violet and ebony orbs glowed.
"You may kiss the brides." She directed. There was an almost palpable sense of electricity in the air, as the newlyweds wrapped around themselves and kissed. When they came up for air, the couples turned and faced the gathered company, and Hilde's voice rang out with authority.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present to you. Quatre and Heero Winner, and Duo and Wufei Maxwell."
