Chapter 7
I woke up early the next morning. My heart raced as I took in the beautiful sight I awoke seeing. Wufei was wrapped tightly around my waist with his head pressed against against my chest. His hair was spread out and it tickled me in the most sensitive places. Wufei's lips were a bit swollen from all the kissing and his breath came in and out softly. He was so beautiful and angelic. And he was mine. All mine.
I bent down and kissed him gently on the forehead while I thought about how I was going to get out of his arms to shower for breakfast. But then, maybe I'll just wait and shower with him. With that clearly in mind, I decided to wait.
"Hmmm...." Wufei moaned as he shifted and snuggled closer to me.
Then I got impatient. Slowly, I began to kiss his lips, his cheek, his ear. Then I moved lower, down to his neck.
"Duo!" he suddenly gasped as he came awake.
I smiled at him and kissed him firmly on the lips. "Good morning."
"It's morning already?" Wufei asked sleepily as he untangled himself from me and stretched like a lazy cat. I loved watching the muslces along his body ripple with such a movement, that golden skin glowing in the warm morning sunlight coming from the windows. I reached out and pulled him back down and pinned him beneath me. He purred and kissed me wetly. "What do you want?"
"You," I whispered softly as I kissed him on the forehead while I parted his legs with my knees. He gasped and I could already feel his hardness as I settled myself between his golden legs and leaned forward.
Wufei gasped and moaned. "Duo," he sighed as he rubbed his hands up and down my arms. "I love you."
"I love you too, Wufei," I whispered softly while I pressed myself tighter against his erection.
He cried out, his dark eyes glazed from lust and desire. He was starting to pant softly.
"Duo, are you going to do this to me all morning? Or are you going to actually take me?" Wufei panted.
"My, aren't we forward?" I purred as I moved up over him and pushed a little more pressure down on Wufei's aching member. I wasn't so great off myself. I wanted to slid myself deep into his body so badly but I had just taken him last night. I didn't want to hurt him because he might be sore.
"How can I be shy after what you did to me last night?" Wufei gasped as he arched forward.
My vision flashed white for a moment as the intense pleasure hit me. I gasped and stared down at Wufei.
"Do you want to go take a shower?" I asked softly as I bent down and kissed him. "I think you're a bit sticky."
Wufei smiled up at me and nodded.
I laughed and got off him and out of the bed. Then I helped him up and pulled him into the bathroom.

"Who is this girl?" I asked as I watched Wufei paint again later that afternoon.
"She was a very good friend of mine," Wufei said softly.
"Why does she look so mean?" I asked curiously.
Wufei turned and smiled sadly at me. "Because she was. She was a very, very fierce girl back in my time. She learned how to fight and use a sword like any other man from the monks and she was very good at it."
"What happened to her?"
"She died fighting in a raid from the Northeners," Wufei told me. "She fought bravely. I was there too but I couldn't save her. A raider came up from behind her and ran her through with his sword. I tried to save her but she died anyways. At least she died a death she always wanted."
"I'm sorry," I said softly as I wrapped my arms from around him and rested my chin on his shoulder.
"I'm not," Wufei said, shaking his head. "She's at peace."
I nodded and turned my head. I caught sight of the painting Wufei had appeared from. It was barely a shadow of what had been there before. I wonder what I was going to do with it. Probably put it away somewhere and never think of it ever again. I had the real Wufei so there was no point in keeping that shadow of one around.
"What are you thinking about?" Wufei asked.
"You," I replied sincerely as I kissed the back of his ear and smiled. "You're so wonderful, Wufei."
"And you're not?" Wufei counted. He smiled and placed his paintbrush down before turning around and kissing me on the lips. "I love you. We're going to spend eternity together, aren't we?"
"Yes," I said, nodding. "We're going to spend eternity together."
"Good. I don't want to ever leave you. I will never leave you," Wufei said softly as he leaned against me and wrapped his arms loosely around my waist. "I love you, Duo."
"I love you, Wufei," I murmured as I kissed his forehead and held him tightly.

The rest of the week went by pretty much quietly and we always spent time with each other. Of course we went out a few times with Zechs and Quatre, and Heero and Trowa sometimes invited us all over for some time to play a good game of basketball or football. Just because we were all insanely rich didn't mean we liked to play golf. I hate golf. Give me a good game of basketball or football any day.
Wufei finished his painting of his friend and put it away. I never saw it again to my relief. I didn't know why but I just never liked that painting. There was something about it that always unnerved me and I hated it.
Life was good. I had Wufei, I had my friends, my art, my money. Life was perfect and nothing could ruin it. Or so I thought...

"Help me pack all of this up, Wufei, " I asked one day when I saw the mess in my studio. There were so many paintings I never sold lying around and as much as I loved them I felt a compulsive need to put them all away for another day. Besides, it was starting to crowd the studio and I needed room for the new work I was doing.
"All right. It is a mess," Wufei agreed.
I pulled out the crates and we began to pack away each painting carefully and lovingly. These were all the paintings that I could never bear to have seperated from me. They were all special to me somehow, even if a few weren't as good as I usually paint. But they all meant something to me. One was painted when my mother passed away, another painted during my time in France. Some of them I just grew affectionate of and couldn't let go. Pat always got on my case about it since those pieces could sell for a lot of money.
"What will we do with this," I murmured to myself as I picked up the shadow painting of Wufei and stared at it.
Wufei turned around with a painting in his hands and stared at it. "Just put it away. There's no need for it."
I grinned and nodded. "Damn right. I got the real thing."
I started putting it away when the phone rang. I sighed and placed the painting down and went to the get the phone.
"Hello?"
"Duo?"
"Hey, Pat. What's up?" I asked.
"There's a buyer for you. She totally admires your work and she wants to check some out. Do you have anything that you're willing to give up?" Pat asked.
"Why won't she wait for an auction?" I asked.
"She's leaving the country in a few days and she absolutely HAS to buy one of your work. I tried telling her that you'll always be painting and there was no rush since your work is also in Europe but she kept on insisting till I finally gave in. So, are you game?" Pat asked.
"Sure. Why not?" I agreed, shrugging. "It's not a big thing. Maybe I'll have something for her."
"Great," Pat said, clearly smiling from the other line. "She's gonna drop by in a day or two."
"All right. I'll be ready for her," I said before hanging up. Then I walked back into my studio to find that everything was already packed up nicely and Wufei was seated on one of the crates looking very thoughtful. I walked over to him and smiled as I cupped his cheek and looked him in the eye. "What are you thinking about?"
"Oh, just about how lucky I am," Wufei sighed dreamily as he smiled at me.
"Lucky? How?" I teased.
"I found you, get to live in a great time and meet all sorts of people. Life is so good in this time. I get to travel all over the world when in the past traveling past China borders weren't allowed," Wufei explained.
"Why weren't they allowed?" I asked.
"China has always been a very isolated place," Wufei said, shrugging. "Come on, I'm hungry. Let's get something to eat."
"Good idea!"

The next day the buyer came. She introduced herself as Dorothy Catalonia [1]. She was a tall woman with long blond hair and the strangest eyebrows. She also had the most hardest eyes and her whole face was a bit mean.
"Can you show me what you have to offer, Mr. Maxwell?" She asked softly as she took off her gloves and smiled icily at me.
"Sure, lots of stuff. I laid it out last night. Just come into my studio," I said although had I really bad feeling about this woman. There was something about her that just was off and I didn't like it at all. Lately, I've learned to rely on my sixth sense and it was clearly telling me to get this buy over with and get this woman out of my house. She wasn't...right. That was as best as I could explain it. There was something wrong about her but I just couldn't put my finger on it.
Dorothy followed me to the studio where Wufei was laying out the last of the work. When we came in he was on one knee adjusting a painting.
"Miss Catalonia, this is Chang Wufei," I introduced.
Wufei stood up and smiled that innocent smile of his has held out his hand and shook Dorothy's. It took a while to explain to him why we shook hands instead of bow but he got it even though he thought it was pretty strange to him.
"Hello, Mr. Chang," Dorothy said smoothly but there was a cut to it that sent a shiver down my spine. She needed to go, and fast!
"So, tell me what you think and we'll try and negociate a price," I said as I walked over to Wufei and stood beside him. "Everything I'm willing to sell is laid out."
Dorothy nodded at me before turning around. Then she began to examine each and every painting very carefully.
We stood there and watched her. She was strange. Her movements were too fluid and...there was just something else. She moved from painting to painting, rejecting them after a while of examination before moving on to the next one. She was down to the last one when she stood up and shook her head.
"I'm sorry, but there's none of what I'm looking for--" She stopped talking and looked past Wufei's shoulder. "Ah, that's what I want." She walked past Wufei and picked up a painting.
We turned around and I was shocked to find that she picked up the faded painting of Wufei.
"I'm sorry, but that's not for sale," I said, shaking my head.
"But surely you'd negociate," Dorothy said as she stared at the painting for a long time. "I want it. How much will let it go for?"
"I said it's not for sale," I told her again.
Dorothy lifted her head and gave me a cold look. "But it was laid out with the others."
"I don't know how it got mixed up with the other paintings but that one isn't for sale," I said as I stepped forward to take it back.
Dorothy narrowed her eyes at me and skipped away, a cruel smile curving her lips. "I'm sorry, Mr. Maxwell, but I can't give this to you."
"What the hell are you talking about?" I demanded angrily as I reached for my painting again.
"You broke a rule when you brought that man to this time, Mr. Maxwell. I've been sent to right it," Dorothy said, shaking her head.
"Excuse me?" I was seriously pissed off. What the heck was this crazy woman talking about?
"It is against time and space to bring someone who doesn't belong in this time from the past. I'm sorry but I'm going to have to send him back," Dorothy said coldly.
"NO!" Wufei shouted as he stepped forward. "You can't do that!"
"You are a trespasser of time! You don't belong here!" Dorothy suddenly had a vial of some liquid. She poured it all over the painting.
"No!" Wufei screamed in horror as he reached for the painting and ripped it from Dorothy's hold. But it was too late. The painting was starting to melt away from the canvas.
Dorothy stood there, her eyes narrowed and her lips thinned out. "It has been done. Things will right itself now." She turned and disappeared without another word.
"Wufei!" I ran over to Wufei and stared at the painting as the paint slowly slid away from it and dripped on to the floor. "Gods, what's going to happen?" I had no idea what was going on. Why did that Dorothy woman pour that liquid all over the painting? What did that accomplish?
"I'm..." Wufei turned and stared at me with wide eyes. "I'm so sorry, Duo."
"What are you talking about?" I demanded almost hysterically as I stared at him. "What are you talking about?"
"She was...She was a servant of whoever controls time." He lifted the ruined painting. "As long as this painting existed *I* existed. But now..."
"NO! I can paint another one," I shouted in panic as I realized what he was talking about. No, I wasn't going to lose Wufei. He meant too much to me. I loved him far too much. He was everything to me, he was my world. He was mine! No one could take him away from me! Certainly not some disgruntled creature of time.
There were tears in Wufei's eyes now and he shook his head. "No, you can't." He dropped the painting and hugged me tightly. "I love you, Duo. I love you with all my heart. You know that, don't you?"
"You're not going anywhere, Wufei. You're going to stay here with me. Remember? We promised to love each other forever, stay with each other forever. Don't break your promise," I said painfully as tears slipped from my eyes. Already I could feel him leaving. What was I going to do without him? How was I going to live without him? I only knew and loved him for less than a month. This wasn't fair! I couldn't lose him before I ever truly got to know him. Truly learned how to love him with all my soul.
"I'm sorry, Duo. I wish to all the gods I could say," Wufei whispered as he hugged me tighter. "I love you, Duo. I love you."
"No, you can't do this to me." I was crying very hard now as I clutched his body to mine. I wasn't going to let him go. If he went, possibly I could go with him if I just held on tightly. "I love you. You *can't* leave me." My voice cracked and I swallowed hard as I held him. Gods, it felt as if a part of myself was being painfully torn away. Maybe that was exactly what was happening. "Don't leave me."
"Love me, Duo. Love me one last time. I won't go just yet. I'll put up a fight before I leave. Love me," Wufei pleaded. "Give me something to remember always."
I pulled back and stared into his wet obsidian eyes. Then I nodded and pulled him into a crushing kiss. Yes, I was going to love him. And maybe, just maybe, the gods will allow him to stay if they only knew of the love I had for him.
~*~
When I woke up later that night, Wufei was gone. He had disappeared before I could say my last good bye. I laid there all night long and cried and cried. I just couldn't stop the flow of tears. I had lost the only person I had ever come to love with all my heart and soul because he didn't belong in this time. How was that fair? How could they take him away when our love was just in first bloom?
I clutched the sheets and closed my eyes as the wind blew in from my open window. It flowed over me and I thought I heard something being whispered in its soft breeze...
~I love you, Duo. Wo ai ni...Never forget me~
No, I would never forget him. Never. He would always be in my heart and I don't think I'll ever love another again the same way...

Well, that was nice. *grin* Tell me what you all think!
[1] Okay, I know I spelled that wrong...
