"I met him another time before this one. I visited him...and loved him....but I was still Death," the boy murmured, his low voice full of sorrow. "I loved him so much. I don't know what happened to the original Death. He might have died like any mortal, or maybe he lived. I have no idea and I really don't care. I am Death now." The boy paused. "I loved him as Death...as my former self. He was so beautiful and I had been so shocked to see him reborn I couldn't help but go down and trick my way into his life where I could live him for a few weeks before I had to leave him.
"It was cruel, I know. But I couldn't help it. I am evil, I know. I have hurt him in so many ways..." The boy sighed shakily. "I love him so much. But I can't tell him everything I have just told you. It will kill him. And I can't have that! He won't be able to handle the truth! He's a warrior, yes, but he's still so...fragile. Oh gods...What am I going to do? I have sinned because I love this boy, I have sinned even more because I can't *stop* myself from loving him."
The father sat there, thoroughly stunned. He had no words for those boy. What could he say? Of all the confessions he had ever heard, this was the most bizarre and tragic. He hadn't been prepared for that story. Especially for it to come from such a young boy.
The boy lauged lightly suddenly, with a hint of hysteria at the edge of his voice. "I know you're probably confused and you don't know what to say. It doesn't matter. It really doesn't. All I wanted was to tell someone my story, to get it off my mind."
"How...how did you come back down to this world?" the father finally managed to ask.
"Oh. That. I dove into the body of an unborn child a while ago. The child was destined to have a bad life and I decided I was going to take that life since that life also lead to him. I knew the child was going to see my love later on his life so I took his destiny away from him, spared him of the pain and evil he would have to face. I put him into another body, gave him a good life," the boy told the father. "It was my thanks to him for giving me his mother. Of course, that mother died later on and the father was never there to begin with. But I didn't care, or at least my subconscious, my true self, didn't care. I didn't know I was Death until a little while ago. I had supressed my memories to live a "normal" life. It worked. I only began to remember recently. And now I know everything. And it ate away at me. I needed to tell someone my story."
"You have told me," the father whispered hoarsely.
"Yes. And I thank you." The boy stood up, stretching after sitting for so long in the confession box. " If you don't want to remember this, just tell me."
"No. No, it's all right," the father said, shaking his head.
"This has been private, right? No one will ever hear of this conversation?" the boy asked.
"I am bound to secrecy," the father swore.
"Good. I'd hate to have come after you," the boy said with a touch of dark amusement. Then he was gone and the father was left alone with his thoughts. After a long moment, the father stood up and stepped out of the confession box. He walked over to the alter and knelt down in front of it. Then he began to pray.

"Where have you been, Duo?" Quatre Raberba Winner asked when he heard the door open and then slam closed. He looked up and smiled at the braided American as he stepped into the living room of their current safehouse.
"Oh...at the church. I needed to get into my...spiritual side," Duo Maxwell said teasingly as he winked at his blonde friend.
Quatre smiled and rolled his eyes before turning his attention back to his game of solitaire.
"Are you winning?" Duo asked as he glanced at Quatre's game.
"Nope," Quatre said, shaking his head.
Duo nodded. Then he looked thoughtful. "Where's Wufei?"
"He's in his room reading." Quatre looked up. "I wouldn't bother him if I was you. You know how he is about his privacy."
"I know," Duo said airily. "I'm only going to say hi." He smiled at Quatre before leaving the living room and heading towards Wufei's room. His heart thudded against his chest as he remembered the confession he had made only an hour ago. He couldn't believe he had done that, but he had and he felt much better. He needed to get it off his chest, badly.
He stopped in front of Wufei's door. He hesistated for a moment, before slowly turning the door knob, satisfied that it was unlocked, and pushed the door open. Wufei was on his futon off to one corner, sleeping with a thin blanket pulled half way up to his chest. His hair was loose and a book and glasses rested not so far from his outstretched hand. Duo's breath caught and he closed his eyes, trying to ignore the pain in his chest. He had given up everything for this beautiful young man and he knew he'd do it over again if he needed to.
Duo smiled and stepped into the room. He closed the door silently behind him and walked over to the sleeping China man. He sat down beside Wufei and reached out to brush errant strands of hair from Wufei's face. Wufei stirred and opened his eyes. They were unfocused for a moment, then he narrowed his eyes.
"Duo?"
"Yes."
"What are you doing in my room?" Wufei asked tiredly. "I thought I asked to be left alone."
"You're alone too much." Duo cocked his head, his expression thoughtful.
"Yes, well, that is how I am." Wufei fell silent for a moment. He lay there with a sleepy expression on his face as he tried to fight through the fog of his dreams. "What are you doing here?" he asked again.
Duo smiled. "No reason. Just wanted to drop by."
"You just wanted to drop by?" Wufei asked, raising an eyebrow.
Duo nodded.
Wufei fell into an awkward silence. What was he to say? He had no idea. He just laid there, staring up at Duo who stared back with a strange light in his eyes. Wufei wondered. He sighed softly. "Are you going to sit there and stare at me all day?"
Duo's lips quirked a bit. "Well, I was going to go take a nap..."
"Good. Go do that." Wufei closed his eyes and prepared to go back to sleep when he felt Duo move and suddenly lay down beside him. He actually squeaked as Duo pulled him close to his body and held him there. "Wha...what are you doing??" He demanded as he tried to pull away.
"Sssh...please. Can I sleep here for today?" Duo asked. There was a hint of desperation in his voice that left Wufei with the inability to say no. He merely nodded and settled comfortably against Duo, feeling as if this was second nature to him. Funny. He had never been an affectionate person to begin with. But he could feel his body warm and relax against Duo as he taller boy molded his body against his own.
Within a few moments, both boys were sleep.
was Duo's last conscious thought before he fell away into the Dreamrealm.
