Sins of Love and Past

Notes: I'm using a few ideas from a Chinese dragon movie I once saw and the rest is made up by yours truly.
Another thing is that the names remain the same since it makes it easier on me and makes it easier on you. There's no point in trying to remember which name goes to whom. Plus, I'm too lazy to think of new names for their past selves!

Chapter 1

When the Rain Falls, the Dragons Play...

"Get it!"

"Hurry! Shoot it down!"

"It's getting away!"

The rain fell harder as the soldiers of the Sank Kingdom ran about, aiming their arrows at their prey. Thunder crashed and the lightning flashed in the sky as it rained harder and harder, blinding the soldiers from their task.

The silvery-white dragon roared angrily as it danced away from the arrows and what arrows that did get it merely bounced against his steel scales and fall back onto the drenched earth. He circled around the town he had been attacking once around before he turned and flew through the air, racing off towards some sort of safety.

Sir Duo of the Sank Kingdom cursed under his breath as he watched the dragon race off through the sky. He kicked the flanks of his horse, urging the ink black stallion to run faster as they rushed to catch up with the dragon whom was quickly getting away. He held his bow and arrow in one hand and the reins of his horse in the other. He had to catch up with the dragon! He couldn't let a monster like that keep attacking the town!

It had been a rather peaceful evening until the rain started to fall. At first it was pretty light, but then it got harder. The rain was falling rapidly when the dragon appeared. It had came from the north side of the city. When the white dragon was spotted, panic and fear broke out and all the city ran screaming for some shelter from the dragon. The soldiers were immediately summoned and the fight began.

They had been steadily fighting for about half an hour. One half of the soldiers were trying to calm the city, the other half was fighting. The dragon focused a few lightning bolts and striked down a good deal of the city and the soldiers but it didn't stop the hail of arrows. There were too many men against one dragon.

So, it fled. And now Duo was following it.

Duo watched the dark skies, wiping the rain from his eyes when it became too much. He gripped his arrows and bow tightly, determined to take down the dragon. He leaned over his horse and glared up at the dragon. He looked off in the direction the dragon was obviously heading in and smiled as he realized the dragon was heading for the woods. Very well, he would meet it there first.

He turned and barreled through the woods, glancing up at the skies ever so often to make sure the dragon was still within his sights although he was not in the dragon's. He was nearing the lake when he had to wipe his eyes. When he looked up again, the dragon was gone! He gaped in shock. Where had the dragon disappeared to??

He pulled his horse to a good stop and looked around in confusion. The dragon couldn't have just disappeared out of nowhere! It had be somewhere, hiding! He growled softly and narrowed his eyes. He would find that dragon and kill it! He wasn't going to let a dragon hurt the people, his only family.

Searching the skies and the woods around him, Duo urged his horse forward at at slower pace. He looked all around him, depending on his instincts and good eye sight and hearing to tell him where the dragon might be hiding.

He was a bit surprised when the harsh rain suddenly stopped. He wiped the water out of his eyes and off his face. He got off his horse and left the black stallion, knowing it wouldn't run off anywhere. He continued on foot.

Clutching his bow and arrow, completely prepared to take down the dragon the minute it made the mistake of revealing itself.

Duo walked slowly, looking around for anything. He was nearing the Mist Lake when he heard the sounds of splashing. He immediately broke out into a run. He leaped easily over anything that was in his way and burst out through the bushes.

He raised his bow and arrow and almost let loose the powerful arrow when he realized he was aiming his weapon at a boy!

"Wha--! Ah--ah!--ah!--choo-!!" The boy sneezed. He blinked and sniffed, rubbing his nose with a handkerchief.

Duo blinked and lowered his weapon. The boy was a little sick, that was quite obvious. Who wouldn't be sick if they were walking around barefoot and wearing only a thin white robe over a pair of pants. The boy's black hair was plastered around his head and his velvet dark eyes regarded Duo suspiciously. The boy was practically black and white all over, the only other color on his face was the pouty redness of his lips and his red nose.

"Who are you?" the boy demanded, waving his arm at Duo. "What are you doing, aiming at me with that weapon?" The boy had a slight accent but Duo couldn't exactly put his finger on what kind of accent the boy had.

"I'm looking for a dragon, have you seen one?" Duo asked.

The boy blinked before narrowing his eyes. "You're a dragon hunter?"

"Yes, I am. I destroy those horrible monsters for their majesties King Treize and Queen Relena [1]," Duo said proudly. "Now, have you seen one?"

The boy was suddenly angry. "You stay away from that dragon, do you hear me?" He demanded as he stalked over to Duo, shaking his fist. "You stay away from him!"

"You're protecting a dragon?" Duo demanded incrediously.

The boy merely glared at Duo. "You have no right hunting dragons. They've done nothing to you!"

"What do you mean, they've done nothing??" Duo demanded. "They scare the people, burn down cites and towns! They're a menace!"

"It's because of people like you whom they have to find self-defense against! If you didn't hunt them, they wouldn't have to do that to keep you away from them!"

"If they didn't show up in the first place, we wouldn't have to hunt them!" Duo shot back. He didn't know why he was even bothering to argue with this boy. He should be riding around, looking for that dragon so he could kill it.

"Everyone has right to do what they want!" the boy said fiercely. "Do you think humans are the only ones allowed to explore and indulge themselves in other worlds? Dragons want to do the same as well!"

"What would you know about dragons?"

The boy suddenly went silent. He licked his red lips and looked at Duo with his eyes wide. He started backing away.

"Hey! Where do you think you're going?" Duo exclaimed.

"Stay away from the dragons! And stay away from me!" the boy shouted as he turned and fled.

Duo stomped his foot in frustration and wondered whether or not he should give chase. When he finally decided to go after the boy he was out of sight.

Cursing, Duo turned and headed back to his horse. He quickly got on and rode back to the city which was still burning from the lightning that had struck. People were screaming and crying as the panic still continued.

"Did you get it?" Sir Trowa asked as he rode up beside Duo.

"No, it got away from me," Duo said angrily.

Trowa sighed in frustration. "We'll get him next time. Right now we have to calm the people. We can't let this get out of control."

Duo nodded in agreement and followed Trowa as they tried to put out the fire.

Wufei stepped out from behind the trees he had been hidden in while the knight had stood there. He had waited until the knight was gone before finally coming out. He breathed a sigh of relief and stretched his limbs. It was nice to take human form sometimes, it was far more convienent than his dragon form when traveling in the human realm. Although, the human form was too small and uncomfortable sometimes. He had already gotten used to it but it didn't mean he had to like it.

He ran his fingers through his wet hair and shook it. The rain slid off the midnight strands and he was dry again. He looked down at his barefeet and sighed heavily. He had changed so quickly he forgot about the shoes. All he had been thinking about was shirt and pants when he made the hurried change the minute the rain stopped.

He hated being wet in his human form, it was too weak to take on the cold that went along with the rain water. It had taken a little bit of concentration to stop the rain his brother had started but at least he was dry now and in human form. A dragon could never control his form when the rain fell. It was like a werewolf trying not to change when the full moon was high in the night sky.

Wufei walked over to the edge of the lake and stopped. He looked up at the sky and saw it clearing up although the chill still lingered almost painfully. His human fingers were stiff and aching from the cold. He needed to take his dragon form again and go home. His parents were waiting and he needed to have a word with his brother...

Cheerfully, Wufei walked into the water until he was chest deep. Then he took a deep breath and completely went under. He swam deeper and deeper, knowing that the lake almost had no end to its depth. When he was deep enough he quickly took on his dragon form before his human for lost its breath and he would be in trouble. Once he took on the form of the dragon, he was breathing easily again and he swam with more force and strength, cutting easily through the dark waters as he raced for the gateway that laid at the very bottom of the deep lake. There was a gateway to the dragon realm in all deep waters. It was perfectly safe to have one since humans weren't strong enough to go as deep as it was required to reach the gateways.

He smiled when he saw the gateway. He shot through it and immediately appeared in his own realm. He swam through the waters and headed for the palace ahead, occassionally nodding a greeting to the other dragons as he swam past them. He rushed past the guards of the palace and reached the main hall where he knew his brother would be.

"Heero!" Wufei shouted as he spotted his prussian colored older brother flirting with a female dragon made of soft pink.

Heero turned and flashed Wufei a winsome smile.

"Back so soon, Wufei?" he asked innocently.

Wufei threw a glare at the pink dragon and she got the message. She winked at Heero before turning and hurrying away from the princes, knowing full well they might get into another fight.

"You used your pearl and started the rain, didn't you?" Wufei demanded furiously. "You knew perfectly well I was going out tonight but you did it anyway! I almost got killed by a dragon hunter!"

"I told you not to go out tonight, Wufei, you just didn't listen to me," Heero said with an indulgent smile.

Wufei glared at his brother. "It wasn't funny, Heero."

"Really? I thought it was suppose to be," Heero said, that confident smile still on his face.

"You weren't suppose to do that!!"

"I thought it was about time some rain fell," Heero said matter-of-factly. "They have been having some trouble, wouldn't you say?"

Wufei growled and launched himself at his brother. Heero dodged but Wufei managed to scratch him just a bit on the arm.

"You scratched me!"

"Serves you right for doing what you did!"

"I don't see what is SO amazing about that stupid weak human world you love so much," Heero said. He pouted as he examined the small scratch.

"It's not stupid! It's a perfectly good world to live in," Wufei said reasonably as he reached out and gently ran his claws over the cut, sealing it up effectively. "They might be weak but not everyone is built like us, Heero. If only you just took my invitation to go into the human world you'll see why I love it so much."

"No, thank you," Heero said, shaking his head. "I like the dragon world just fine. Besides, I don't want to be hunted like you."

"Oh, it was only because of *you* the hunter went after me!" Wufei shot back.

"So, it's my fault?"

"Yes!"

"You shouldn't have went out at all!"

Wufei sighed and moved a little away from Heero. "I like going out, Heero, and there's nothing that can stop me."

"Mother and Father can," Heero pointed out.

"But they don't care."

Heero rolled his eyes. "It's a good thing I'm heir to the dragon throne or else we'd be put into the hands of a dreamer."

"Hmph. I'm happy I'm *not* the heir. Besides, it's not like either Mother or Father is going to die any time soon," Wufei sniffed. "How long have they been around before they decided to finally have children?"

"Good point," Heero agreed.

"Are you two boys arguing? Again?" MeiFa[2] asked as she swam up to her sons and smiled at them. She leaned over and kissed Wufei on the cheek. "You're back, Wufei. How long have you been away this time?"

"Five human days," Wufei replied.

"Hmmm...Only five hours? Why were you back so soon?" MeiFa asked curiously.

Wufei threw a glare at Heero who just smiled cheerfully back.

"Heero decided that it was time for the rain to fall in the human world," he replied dryly.

"Again, Heero?" MeiFa sighed.

"I thought it'd be fun to excercise my power. It's not my fault he was caught in it," Heero said with feigned innocence.

"I swear, you two are going to kill each other one day," MeiFa sighed.

Both dragon princes nodded matter-of-factly.

"And it's not even for the throne...Why can't you two be like human princes?" MeiFa asked.

"Because we're dragons, Mother," Heero replied.

Wufei nodded in agreement.

"Well, then be good dragons. Your father and me are going out to see the Air Dragons. Political stuff, you know," MeiFa said as she gave each of her sons a peck before swimming off. "Behave yourselves while we're gone!" Then she disappeared through the great arches of the palace.

Heero turned to Wufei and smiled. "Yes, Wufei, behave."

Wufei threw his brother a venomous glare.

Duo sighed heavily as he fell down onto his bed and closed his eyes. He was exhausted from everything and just wanted to get a good night's sleep. That was all he asked for. Just some good rest, forget about food. He would just eat a big breakfast in the morning before going to the palace to report the events of the dragon attack.

He had already had his bath--due to Hilde's insistence--and now was dressed warmly in his sleeping robe. He had his hair braided down his back so he didn't get it tangled while he was sleeping. He closed his eyes and pulled his blanket up to his shoulders, thankful that the windows were shut and the fire was burning steadily in his room. He hated the cold, especially the cold that came along with rain in winter. Thank the gods it didn't snow in Sank.

He sighed contently, hoping to fall asleep immediately. Of course this didn't happen. He replayed the events of the dragon attack all the way to the strange boy he had met in the woods beside the lake. The boy had been dressed in the most strangest clothing, never in his travels had Duo ever seen such style of clothing as the one the boy wore. The robes had been pristine white, as well as the thin pants. And why in the worlds had he been barefooted??

Of course, Duo had to admit the boy was a very interesting looking individual. Very exotic, very different, very beautiful...

Duo fell asleep.
