David sat on his bedroom floor with his legs crossed. V-mon hang onto his shoulder, looking over it as the boy thumbed through some of the cards in his deck. The teen didn't mind V-mon looking over his shoulder at all. It was just a reminder of some of the better changes taking place. His focus was on his own deck. David just couldn't figure out how to improve on the deck. There wasn't much that he had that could make it better at all. There were too many armor evolutions, so it didn't work as well as he'd like it to.
V-mon saw a card that caught his interest. Though, he couldn't exactly read the text, the picture was very familiar. The image was a blue and white dragon with a pointed head and two horns coming out of the back of its head. It also had a V-shape in blue across its torso.
"Cool," V-mon said, pointing at the card.
David just smiled as he held up the card to give V-mon a closer look. "That's one of my favorites," David remarked. "You know, you might end up evolving into him."
"Really?!" V-mon said, looking at the card with a lot of interest.
"Yep, along with him, too," David remarked showing V-mon the Aero V-Dramon card.
David smiled as V-mon fainted from excitement. The prospect of evolving into 'bad-ass' forms overwhelmed him. Of course, David didn't have the heart to show what else V-mon could evolve into after his reactions. He would laugh if it turned out to be a Numemon, that is if it didn't mean instant death for the both of them. David just sighed at that prospect. No one wants to die, but it would be a constant possibility as long as he continued this.
The doorbell rang, stirring V-mon from his blissful state of unconsciousness. He jumped to his feet, thinking that it was Jessa. "V-mon, calm down. I don't know if it's Jessa or not," David told him, causing the lizard to snap back to reality. He could have made a costly mistake in showing himself off to another human.
David stood up off the ground and walked to the front door. He smiled, seeing Jessa on the other side. "C'mon in," David told the girl, letting her into the apartment. V-mon rushed out of the bedroom, seeing Jessa walk into the apartment and practically glomped the teen. "Jessa!!"
Jessa just smiled. V-mon reminded her of an energetic young child. "Hey, V-mon. Looks like you're more than ready to see your new hide-out," Jessa remarked.
"Yep!" V-mon chirped. David just chuckled. "Well, I'm interested myself. I mean, the only place I could think of was Central Park, and that's way too far."
"Central Park isn't the only park around here," Jessa remarked.

Entry 03: Greymon...Again?!

David couldn't believe what he was seeing as Jessa led them to a small forested area of a small park. "I hide here quite a few times when I've pissed off my parents and don't want them to find me. They haven't found me here, yet," Jessa explained. "There should be plenty of places for V-mon to hide, and enough things here to keep him occupied."
"No kidding," David remarked as he watched V-mon scramble up a nearby tree. The child digimon seemed to be enjoying the area. It was still in the city, so some of New York was still around, but it was one of the few places in the city that kept such an area. V-mon started jumping from branch-to-branch, exerting what energy he had stored up from being cooped up in the house.
Jessa had somewhat of an ulterior motive for bringing V-mon here. If she needed to hide here again, it would give her a companion to be with, not to mention a cheerful one. With her home life, she needed these small things as much as anyone else, if not more. David, V-mon, Michael and the others provided a big enough relief from her family that she's able to forget things temporarily, and possibly let things blow over.
"Hey, wanna let V-mon explore this place for a while? I feel like walking around town for a while," Jessa suggested.
David had some concerns with leaving V-mon alone here, but it wasn't like he couldn't fend for himself. "V-mon, be careful not to get caught or anything, okay? Jessa and I are going to walk around for a while," David called out.
"Okay, don't worry about me," the disembodied voice of V-mon said, as he hid somewhere in the leaves of the trees. It was hard to pinpoint where exactly V-mon was, which only partially relieved David. He just couldn't shake the feeling of something being wrong.
"I've been meaning to ask," Jessa said as the couple walked through the streets of New York. "Aren't you scared when you go into battle?"
David shook his head. "I've got so many other thoughts the moment a digimon emerges that death isn't one of them until I'm close to it," he remarked. "Of course, I'm afraid I'll die from these battles, but there's more to it than just fearing for my own life. It's almost like a duty. I haven't seen anyone else with a digimon, so I assume I'm the only one here. If I don't defend this place, who will? And what will happen after I die? It's just at a point where losing or giving up are not options."
Jessa nodded, then said, "You aren't the only Tamer, and definitely not the first."
"You mean, there's another Tamer in New York?" David asked.
"There was, but we don't know what happened to her. All I remember is a depressed girl with a strange dog that looked like a Doberman pincher. She called the dog Dobermon, which many thought it was just a joke about her obsession with Digimon. No one ever really believed that that dog was a real digimon."
"What was the girl's name?" David asked, thinking she could probably find her. "And what happened to her?"
"Her name was Alice McCoy," Jessa said. "No one knows what really happened to her. She just disappeared at one point in time. Her family said she ran away from home with her dog, but no one has found either of them," Jessa said.
"Maybe she's on the other side," he just remarked.
"The other side?" Jessa asked.
"Well, these digimon have to come from somewhere. It's not like they suddenly appear in the real world at the snap of a finger," David said, snapping his fingers to prove his point. The moment he snapped his fingers, his digivice activated on its own. "Geez...you aren't supposed to prove me wrong, you damned thing." David picked up the D-Arc and looked at the screen, which displayed the attacking digimon. Seeing the digimon, David could only react with the words, "Oh, shit."
V-mon was in total bliss right now. He was having the best time of his life without having a threat on his life. There was always a threat on his life in the Digital World for multiple reasons. Most of the time, it was just other digimon thinking he was lunch, but just like in this world, the Digital World was complex. There were groups out in that world, just as there was here. The fact that he was part of one didn't help matters much, emphasis on the word 'was'.
V-mon suddenly froze. He sensed the presence of another digimon, which was never good in this world. Of course, he couldn't pinpoint where it was, but he had a very good idea of the digimon's location. Of course, it usually wouldn't be too hard to find. This one should be rather huge.
V-mon heard screams coming from the park's playground. He rushed towards the screams, not caring if he was seen anymore. Whatever was there, he had to take it out fast. He could only hope David would make it here in time. Then, an explosion sounded in the direction he was heading for, which made V-mon's stomach churn. He didn't like the fact that there would be fatalities in this attack. It was a very grim reminder of what could happen to him and David.
When V-mon arrived, he noticed the smoldering crater left by a fireball that had impacted the playground, the scorched remains of humans was barely noticeable. He couldn't tell how many died. Then, he looked up at the attacking digimon, which turned out to be the same Greymon that he faced before he was brought into this world. It had come here searching for V-mon.
"So, there you are...dragon," Greymon said.
David ran in the direction his D-Arc lead him, Jessa following close behind. All David could think of was that this could be it. When V-mon faced Greymon before, he was having his ass handed to him before David pulled him out of the Digital World. They would need a miracle to get out of this mess.
The two kids were coming close to the park before they heard an explosion. "Shit!" David cursed as they stopped in their tracks.
"This is getting dangerous, David," Jessa warned, scared now.
"It always was dangerous," David told her. "This time, I wouldn't be surprised if we had a few fatalities." As much as David wanted to hide his fear, he started trembling. This could be the end of the line for him.
Jessa wrapped her arms around David's arm, comforting the boy. The girl was scared stiff herself, scared that David might disappear like Alice did years ago, scared that she might die should David fail. "Jessa, stay out of this," David said calmly. "I don't want anything to happen to you." David's brief moment with fear subsided with Jessa's comfort. He was still scared, but if he just ignored this emergence, he could lose a lot.
"Please, don't die, David," Jessa said.
"I won't as long as I have something to say about it," David muttered before running off to the park. David needed to shove his thoughts aside as he rushed towards the battleground. Jessa could only watch David run off before she went somewhere safe herself. She didn't really feel like going back home, though. Maybe Mimi or Michael wouldn't mind the company.
As David approached the playground, the smell of scorched flesh and bone filled his nose. He suddenly stopped, fell onto his hands and knees, and threw up on the soil and grass beneath him. The thought of so many innocent lives lost simply because he couldn't make it here in time was bad enough, he didn't need the stench to remind him.
"So there you are...dragon," David heard Greymon growl.
"I told you before, I ran away from the dragon clan. I don't want anything to do with them," V-mon spat back.
What the Hell are they talking about? David asked himself, while trying to regain his composure. What's his beef with V-mon?
"A dragon is a dragon, and the clan's scent is still on you," Greymon told him.
David slowly got to his feet. This argument was getting no where fast. Though, whatever the argument was, he still couldn't forgive Greymon for doing what he did, but it seems Greymon has a huge grudge on V-mon. Whatever this was, he better help get V-mon out alive.
"I told you before. Your clan killed my family in the name of their supposed 'God'. I'll kill all of them to get revenge, starting with you," Greymon said, fire starting to form in his mouth.
"Card Slash! Aero Wing!!" David yelled as he swiped a card through the reader. A pair of blue dragon wings appeared on V-mon's back.
"Mega Flame!!" Greymon yelled as he spat out a large fireball. V-mon took flight, just getting out of the way as the fireball hit the ground. Greymon looked confused, V-mon just don't sprout wings out of no where. Then, the dinosaur looked around and found David, both the D-Arc and the card he just used in hand. "A Tamer? So even humans sympathize with the dragons."
"I don't know what you're talking about, but I do hate you for taking innocent lives. Look around you, you did this," David said.
"So what if I did? Humans are weak anyway. I don't see how they can survive. They should all die," Greymon muttered that last part, which was still audible to David considering the size difference. Then, Greymon started to form another Mega Flame.
"V-mon Head!!" V-mon yelled as he rammed head first into the side of Greymon's head, producing enough force to knock his head sideways. "I'm you're opponent, remember?"
"If you insist on dying first," Greymon said, before firing off the Mega Flame at V-mon. V-mon flew out of the way, before gaining a metal coat, David just slashing a Metal Attack card. Then, the Iron Drill appeared on V-mon's head. V-mon swooped right down at Greymon, the drill spinning. "IRON DRILL SPIN!!" V-mon yelled as he came just into range of Greymon. Greymon simply lowered his head and rammed it into V-mon's side, knocking him down into the ground. All of the modifications disappeared, and V-mon appeared unconscious, the attack taking too much of a toll on V-mon's body.
"No way! V-mon!" David yelled as he ran up to his partner. "C'mon V-mon, you have to get up. We can't lose here."
Greymon slowly approached the two like a predator ready for the kill, chuckling evilly. "V-mon, if you would just wake up, we still have a chance here. We have to take him out now."
"It's over," Greymon said. "You can just give up."
David turned towards Greymon and glared. "I'm sorry, but this isn't something I can simply quit. What's going to happen after we lose? You go around having a feast on humans? More Digimon appearing, even stronger than you?"
"Heh, so you won't give up until your dead, right? Perfect, that was already more fun than killing someone that won't fight back," Greymon taunted.
David stood up, picking up a rock in his right hand. Even if all he could do was throw rocks at this guy. He might not be able to kill Greymon, but he might do enough to incapacitate him, and keep him from doing too much. "Take this!" David yelled as he threw the rock, his aim dead on target as it aimed just off center of Greymon's head...right for Greymon's right eye. Greymon couldn't blink in time as the rock lodged itself between the eye and his eye lid, letting out a roar of pain.
Greymon started thrashing around blindly. He ended up swinging his tail right at David, who didn't have time to avoid it. All he could do was hold his arms to cushion the blow as it sent him flailing to the ground. David started cursing himself for making such a foolish mistake. Sure he would be blinded in one eye, but Greymon could just start thrashing about and still do a lot of damage to this place, not to mention go off of smell. Greymon can still crush them like ants.
David's efforts weren't for nothing, as his D-Arc started to glow from the screen. Just as it was, so was V-mon, starting to wake up. "What hit me?" V-mon asked as he started to get up off the ground. Then, he saw David on the ground bruised up, and Greymon thrashing about. "David!" V-mon yelled, as he started to glow brighter.
"V-mon, evolve!!" V-mon yelled as he felt a lot of power surge through him. The light around V-mon started to grow, forcing David to close his eyes from the sheer brightness. When the light subsided, a blue dragon digimon about the same size as Greymon appeared, two horns had grown straight back, and a blue V emblazoned itself in the middle of its white stomach. "V-Dramon!!"
Greymon finally stopped thrashing, taking a look from his one good eye at his opponent. It seemed it was all the proof Greymon needed to prove that he was still a Dramon follower. "Heh, Greymon, meet your Dragon counterpart," David muttered as he slowly got up from the ground, another rock in hand. This time, if he did this, he needed a more decisive predicament.
Greymon charged right at V-Dramon, head lowered to impale the dragon. V-Dramon cocked back on fist, ready for the oncoming attack. "Hammer Attack!!" V-Dramon yelled as he punched Greymon straight in the jaw, forcing his head up. Then Greymon and V-Dramon grabbed each other's hands, grappling each other. They looked like they were dead even as far as strength. David had to act fast and now. He had run to the side of the two combatants, going for Greymon's left eye. David dove, chunking the rock at Greymon's left eye this time, and this time, Greymon was too focused on V-Dramon to see the rock coming. Greymon let go of his grip as he roared in pain again.
"V-Dramon! Now's your chance!! Finish it!!"
"V-Breath Arrow!!" V-Dramon called out as he exhaled an arrow made of pure air, aimed right for Greymon's jugular. As the arrow ripped through Greymon's throat, Greymon dispersed into data, allowing V-Dramon to absorb his data.
David looked around at the area and the damage caused by the battle. He was hoping they wouldn't be seeing more events like this. There was no way this city would take much. Even though it was a victory, it was an extremely bitter one. "V-Dramon, you can devolve now," David told the wind dragon.
"I...don't know how," V-Dramon replied sheepishly.
"What?!" David asked, not wanting another problem mixed up with this.
That evening, Jessa, Mimi, Michael, Maria, and David watched some news coverage of the 'gas explosion' that occurred at the nearby park. Jessa and David knew very well that this wasn't a gas explosion, but the less people knew about the battle that took place, the better. The coverage went on to say that ten to fifteen people lost their lives in the blast.
David's only relief was that V-Dramon was hidden from the camera. He tried to hide in the thickest part of the forested area, which may cause a few problems during the day. David's only real option was to find a Downgrade card, but that would be tough. David only got his cards from people that didn't need them. He never really picked up a starter pack, and the first one, the one that had the card needed, was hard enough to find.
"Hey, Dave. Are you okay? You seem out of it?" Michael asked.
"I'm fine...for the most part," David said, a bit bruised from when Greymon attacked him. He had considered telling the others about what he was involved in, hopefully to get some help. "Can you three keep a secret?" David asked, referring the other three.
"Sure, I mean, we've kept a lot of each other's secrets. There's nothing you really have to hide from us," Mimi said.
"Guys, that explosion really wasn't a gas explosion," David said
