Kagome's loving grandfather is the reason she found the well and met Inu-Yasha. Her father's house used to be a shrine, and the well is in the cellar, if I remember right, and if I don't someone had better tell me. He's very into all the old legends, and Kagome didn't believe him at all until she got sucked into one of them. He always gets her random and sometimes disgusting legend-related presents, and sells "shikon jewels" as souveniers. A picture is forthcoming; I haven't found one I like yet.
