DragonBall: Exodus
Book Two
Chapter Two:
Ultimatum.
Once, this planet had been peaceful. And then the tyrant known as Freezer came looking for the dragonballs, and life eternal. Son Gokou had stopped him, and the peace returned.
Now, however, peace was a word long forgotten by the inhabitants of Namek-sei. Those who were not dead had been enslaved by one of their own.
Inside the black fortress, the eight figures kneeling to Uminium stood, loosing the long brown cloaks that hide their bodies. They looked like something from the reign of King Cold, and in some ways they were. All were dressed in some form of the armor Cold and his bastard son favored.
"My chosen elite. Yes," Uminium cooed as he stood, his old bones creaking with the movement. "Know you why you have been summoned?"
A figure whose face was swathed in bandages stood, his dull ebony eyes glowing in the artificial light.
"You called us here," the bandaged man spoke, low and harsh, "to prevent the Saiya-jin Prince Vegeta and Kakarotto from gathering the dragonballs."
Uminium grimaced. "Yes. Stop them no matter what the cost. But, should you encounter a little Saiya-jin girl, bring her to me. Alive." The figures mumbled a bit until Uminium cleared his throat. "Are there any problems with my orders?" The figures shook their heads at once. "Good." "Uminium," Vegeta snorted as he crossed his arms over his chest. "What kind of name is that…" Vegeta stopped, and stared straight into Gokou's pale face. "What's wrong?"
"C'mon, Ksullom," Gokou smiled as he scooped up the small Namek-sejin, "we're gonna take you someplace, ne?" "Would you mind telling me what you're so worried about, Bakkayarou?"
"It can wait until were back on the ship…"
"Tch. Bakka." Silently, Vegeta placed his hand on Gokou's shoulder an instant before they vanished. They reappeared in the lowest cargo hold of the ship.
"Now, explain what's going on, Kakarotto." "Ksullom…" Gokou began as he set the small Namek-sejin down, "you did say Uminium, right?"
"Yes," was the boy's only response.
"Ne… things are about to get bad, Vegeta…" Gokou thought to the shorter Saiya-jin. "Rai Kaiou-shin warned me about this guy… he told me he was worse than Buu…"
"Worse than Buu..?" Suddenly, the ship rocked and lurched, throwing Gokou, Vegeta and Ksullom to the floor. "What the hell was that?!?" Vegeta snarled as he hauled himself to his feet. Gokou was already standing.
"That was a ki attack… it was hidden until the instant before it hit…" Another blast hit the ship, once again causing it to rock and sway.
"We've got to get to the bridge!" Vegeta snarled as he tried to push past Gokou. "Kakarotto! Bakka!"
Calmly, Gokou grabbed Vegeta's shoulder and transported them to the bridge. "We're loosing altitude, Bulma-sama," the person at the helm shrieked as she frantically tried to steer the ship.
Bulma grunted something inaudible as she climbed the stairs to her platform. Another blast hit the ship, knocking her from the stairs.
Luckily, Vegeta caught her. He floated her up to the platform and sat her down in her seat.
"Engine room! Get all working engines on line! Emergency power," she shouted as she frantically typed a few commands on her keypad. "Helm, go help in the engine room, I'm taking the controls."
"Hai!" The woman at the helm responded as she jumped up and left the bridge.
"Son-kuh… do you know what's happening," Bulma asked as another blast rocked the ship.
"We're being attacked." Vegeta responded. Suddenly, the video screen blinked to life showing the chaotic engine room.
"Bulma-sama! Engines 2 and 3 have exploded… we don't have enough power too…" Another explosion filled the screen, followed by the worker's scream. The screen went black.
"Shit," Bulma spat. "All crew! Prepare for crash landing! Engine room! If you can hear me, eject all fuel now!!"Gokou and Vegeta exchanged glances, and with that, disappeared. They reappeared directly below the ship. Quickly, they flew to either end and started pushing the great hulk back up. \ Another kikou ha flew right past Gokou's head. "Gaaa! That was close! Vegeta, I'll take care of the ship… you get the guy's who's attacking it!" "Tch." Vegeta responded as he flew past Gokou, golden energy cascading around him. "Thank you, Vegeta! Now…." With a vicious scream, Gokou pushed himself into Super Saiya-jin 3.It didn't take long for Vegeta to find the source of the attacks. It was a figure swathed in bandages, wearing the same type of armor he used to wear. Upon spotting Vegeta, he quickly fired off three more blasts and rushed up to meet him. "Prince Vegeta, I presume," the bandaged warrior said with mock respect. "Tch," Vegeta replied as he flew towards the other warrior, who zanzokened behind him. "Well, at least you appear to know how to fight.." Vegeta said as he turned to face his opponent. A vicious smile twisted his mouth. "Let's see if you really can…" Vegeta pounced, slamming his charged fist right into his opponent's armor chest. The bandaged warrior took the punch right in the chest, but didn't move. Instead, he slammed his fist into Vegeta's nose, knocking the Saiya-jin back. "Heh," Vegeta smirked as he looked to the bandaged warrior. "You could prove to be a challenge… but I doubt it…" In response, the man slowly began peeling the bandages from his face. "So, you're Saiya-jin," Vegeta snorted as he crossed his arms. "One of the resurrected.. "Not quiet, My Prince… you and Kakarotto aren't the only ones to survive the destruction of our home…" The Saiya-jin smirked as he prepared for battle. "I am Yasai, one of Uminium- Sama's elite… my orders are to kill you." "Tch. Elite," Vegeta snorted before zanzokening behind Yasai and grabbing his hair. With a wicked smirk, Vegeta buried his hand into the base of Yasai's spine, making him yelp with pain. "And you call yourself elite? A newborn baby could beat you… "So you think, My Prince…." A sudden wind kicked up. Vegeta watched placidly as Yasai's hair stood up and turned golden. "Tch. Super Saiya-jin… I didn't think a weakling like you could manage it…" Vegeta grunted as his released Yasai's hair. The Saiya-jin slowly turned around, and smirked at Vegeta. Yasai charged forward, and slammed into Vegeta, knocking the Saiya-jin Prince down to the ground. He hit hard and bounced, but landed on his feet. Vegeta looked up, and wiped away a small trickle of blood as an evil grin played on his face. "What are you grinning about," Yasai spat as he lowered to the ground. Vegeta couldn't help but chuckle. "You call that POWER?" His chuckle turned into an insane laugh. "I'll show you POWER!" Vegeta widened his stance, and balled his fists as golden kick encircled him. Vegeta motioned Yasai to attack. "Impossible," Yasai roared as he sprung toward the Saiya-jin Prince. "Bakka," Vegeta hissed as Yasai rushed towards him. At the last possible instant, Vegeta zanzokened to one side and drove his elbow into Yasai's spine. Yasai hit the ground, a pool of crimson blood forming under him. His golden hair returned to it's normal black color before he died. Vegeta slipped from his stance, arms dropping limply at his sides as the sound of clapping filled the air. He turned to see a huge figure wrapped in a brown cloak. "Very nice… you disposed of that trash quiet nicely." A smirk twitched at the corner of Vegeta's mouth. "And who might you be? The second of this Uminium's so called 'Elite'," Vegeta's smirk widened to show teeth. "Are you on the same orders as that trash lying in his own blood over there?" "Yes, but the orders can wait. I'm here to offer you a compromise, Vegeta, Prince of All Saiya-jin. I see you have no compunction about killing one of your own…" Vegeta spat. "One of my own? You mean that trash? He wasn't worthy of the title Saiya-jin." "Point taken… Will you hear what I have to say?" "Talk.." "You see.. Recently, we've had a bit of an… Monkey problem… A group of Saiya-jin My Lord Uminium so graciously returned to life decided to rebel and left the planet…" The figure paused, trying to gage the expression on Vegeta's blank face. "If you were to return the Saiya-jin Girl you have with you.. and agree to… shall we say… eliminate the rebel Saiya-jin… I would persuade Uminium to grant you the use of the dragonballs…" The figure was cut off by a sudden harsh laugh. "You want me to kill my people for use of those silly orange balls? Trash is one thing, but the My entire race is another." Vegeta crossed his arms over his chest. "Bakka. My answer is no.. take that to yourmaster. "Have it your way, Vegeta, Prince of all Saiya-jin… that was your one change…" With that the figure disappeared.Red strobe lights lit the bridge, as the ground grew closer at a frightening rate. "Engine Room! Engine Room respond!" No answer. "KUSOTARRE!" She stole a quick look at her instrument panel, noting the damaged areas. "Attention! Prepare to eject Hyperspace manifold!" She opened a box on her console, and pushed the glowing red button within. Nothing happened. Again and again she plunged the button, all with the same effect. She closed her eyes, and braced herself for the impending impact.Which never came.Cautiously, Bulma opened her eyes, and found her self looking upon a huge mountain on the view screen. "… Are we dead?" Chichi asked as she opened a single eye. Bulma shook her head and smiled. "Son-kuh and Vegeta did it… we're safe… What do you say we get out and look around?"
