| Summary: |
|
In the year 12,090 AD vampires are the new aristocratic element. A variety of monsters walk the land and humans are scarce and armed to the teeth with advanced weapons and cybernetic horses. D is the most noted vampire hunter of the day. D is actually a dhampire, a half-human, half-vampire hybrid and son of the actual Dracula. When a young girl, Doris, is chosen by the evil Count Magnus Lee to be his new bride she hires D to kill him. This movie combines Westerns with Vampires and Samurai. D is a typical reluctant hero/gunslinger character. This is a classic anime and, along with "Akira" and "Ghost in the Shell" define anime for thousands of viewers. Vampire Hunter D is, perhaps, not the best movie, but its impact is still being felt and a sequel will soon be released that is supposed to be even more powerful than this one. |
