IICCTW Timeline

Hai, IICCTW is a very confusing fic. You may still be wondering what precicely is going on here. Or maybe you just wanna get the scoop on what's coming up next. ^^ Well either way, you're in the right place.

Let us now skim through the last chapter of my alternate universe's history book. You got anything better to do? ^^

Before Pokemon Training
Pokemon Training, as well as the divergent Pokemon leagues, has not been around forever. At one time, humans and Pokemon were at war at worst, enemies at best. But all that changed with the Mew civilization's entrance onto our world's stage.
The Mew were mighty Pokemon, fun-loving, devoted to peace. Under their influence, humans and Pokemon became friends, living together peacefully in the only pure socializationalistic society in history. But this idyllic era was not to last. The Mew island was attacked, killing all of the peaceful cat-like creatures.*
The peaceful harmony of human and Pokemon was therefore fractured--but not broken.** Pokemon returned to the wild, but the invention of the Pokeball introduced the concept of Pokemon Training for the first time. Ancient Pokeballs, made from the shell of the mysterious Apricorn, enabled humans to raise Pokemon and domesticate them. Pokeballs are now manufactured, but some Apricorn craftsmen remain. The Pokeball is no doubt the foundation of today's society.
The creation of the Indigo League increased competition between trainers.*** The League has since become the goal of every red-blooded Kanto/Johto-raised child. However, a problem soon appeared. Not all trainers were worthy of having Pokemon. A few trainers, sad to say, abused their Pokemon, and the trend was spreading. This led to the creation of Rocketto-dan, a secret orginization that stole Pokemon from the unworthy and found them better homes.****
Peril struck Rocketto-dan when a young, ambitious man named Giovanni took over the group, killing those few who refused to go along with his plans. This First Rocket Revolution created the criminal orginization of Team Rocket, whose goal was to terrorize.
Team Rocket did not pose a major threat, however. Rising trainer Ash Ketchum kept them largely at bay, even more so when he became Pokemon Master at a startlingly young age. But when he was kidnapped, they began to grow bolder. Who knows what plans they might have implemented had their complex in Viridian City been destroyed.
Ash Ketchum remained missing for some time after the Viridian Gym Bombing. He reappeared, finally, in time for his friend's wedding. At the time of the 'Second Kidnapping', he was gone again. The Second Rocket Revolution--the complete destruction of Team Rocket--seems to have been somehow connected to that.*****
For a little while, peace reigned--until Ash Ketchum and his friend disappeared yet again in the Indigo Incident, this time for good. Mr. Hirono became the reigning Pokemon Master, until what is gleefully referred to as the Third Rocket Revolution, which is too recent history to necssitate explanation. In the most recent history, the disappearances of Ecruteak have not been solved, and may never be. Some mysteries shall simply never be solved. But it is clear that there is some guiding force in the odd recent history of the world, and we hope that it shall grant us peace in the future.

------------------------
*: It is impossible to prove (or disprove) that every Mew was in fact killed. But if some survived, why would they remain in hiding?
**: Some say that if all the Mews had died, this small connection would not remain. Such theories are subjective; you must decide for yourself.
***: Not like they weren't competitive before. It seems to run along with the good training traits.
****: Many famous trainers of the day ended up joining Rocketto-dan, such as Kasumi the Water Pokemon Mistress, Satoshi the (arguably) most famous Pokemon Master ever, and Minmei, who was gaining a reputation for her lovely singing/songwriting abilities.
*****: Some people insist that _all_ of the kidnappings were related, and that the Second Kidnapping led directly to the Second Rocket Revolution. Some people even (when drunk, mainly) insist that everything in this textbook was related in a cause-and-effect fashion. They generally pass out before they can explain their theories, however.
