| why? well, two weeks before ndk, i was pretty bored and had some spare cash. i had been browsing through cosplay pictures, and noted how some cosplayers had done swimsuit versions of certain characters (belldandy, for example.) i'm not sure how the idea creeped into my head, but it did, and before i knew it i was buying blue lycra at denver fabrics! ^^; and ever since my horrible rei costume, i've been promising to do a better version of her. well... here it is! | ||
| how? the pattern i originally wanted to use on this costume (if you can even call it that) was out of stock at the time, so i used kwik sew 2963. for material, i used blue and white swimsuit lycra, along with clear elastic and invisbile thread. for once, i barely did any altering to the pattern, except for sewing on the white stripes. i also stole the detachable straps from one of my other bathing suits and put small "fabric hooks" on the rei swimsuit so i could hook them on. |

| thoughts wow, that's the shortest set of construction notes i've ever compiled! ^^ sadly, it was easier said than done. i had never made a swimsuit before, nor had i worked with lycra, so this was a totally new experience for me. i learned a lot, though, and am fairly pleased with the result. the sad thing about this costume is that i worked so hard on it to wear swimming at nan desu kon, and i never had the chance to go! (swimming, that is. ^^;) eventually i'll get some pictures. =p |
