Tamiya is Keiichi's senior in college. Tall, dark, and not exactly handsome, he is the an imposing fellow with immense strength. He always seems to have a vacant look in his eyes which actually betrays his passion for machines.
Although Tamiya is rather largish, he is usually seen taking rather smaller modes of transportation like a moped and a motor-compo in Chapter 70.
He doesn't have a girlfriend but has fallen for Peorth once. He is extremely close to Ootaki.
