Chapel the Evergreen

We first see Chapel in episode 22, but we only see
him from behind with his cross, and a green apple in his hand.
He carries a cross like Wolfwood's, but it splits into two halves
and both are machine guns. He wears strange (glasses, goggles,
????) over his eyes. They give him the appearance of having large
eyes with no iris and red pupils. He is a tall man, but seems
even taller because he wears a top hat.
Chapel is a priest with a cross that turns into guns. Does something
remind you of Wolfwood? Well, they are so similar because when
Nick killed his Guardian, Chapel took him in. He taught Nicholas
how to use guns, and introduced him into the Gung-Ho Guns. Nick
modeled his cross/gun after Chapel's cross.
In episode 23, Nick and Chapel fight. Wolfwood eventually shoots
Chapel in the right shoulder. In an earlier confrontation with
Vash, Wolfwood promised never to kill again, so he doesn't kill
Chapel. Chapel decides not to shoot Nick after he lowers his gun.
Wolfwood begins to turn away, but Legato takes control of Chapel
and makes him shoot Wolfwood.
In Episode 24, Chapel goes to confront Legato. He is about to
shoot when Legato breaks both of Chapel's arms and bends him over
backwards and might have broken his back. Then Knives walks up
and kills Chapel in a horrible way. It's almost as if a big black
thing comes up and absorbs Chapel. Knives called it the "Ravine
between life and death."
