Webmaster's notes: Based off the ground type MS-06J Zaku II, the MS-06D Zaku Desert Type was introduced early and used in significant numbers on earth. Many squads were formed entirely of the unit. The most notable feature of the MS-06D was a backpack mounted heat dissapator in place of the the standard thrusters. Meanwhile, additional thrusters were added to the legs to make up for the loss, and acceleration remained about the same as the standard Zaku. The Desert Type also had a few features to help make it more self suffecient in a desert environments where reinforcements were less likely. These included a thick communications antenna mounted on the head, flanked by a pair of small caliber vulcan cannons for use as anti-infantry or anti-air weapons. The MS-06D was also the only Zaku II variant to use the 105mm machine gun in favor of the 120mm, since the 105mm still packed significant power but was slightly more compact.
