STAYING TRUE

Well... it is the sequel to Faith. I suggest you read that first, in order
to fully understand this story. I hope you Zechs/Noin fans like what I have
so far. Enjoy.
She balled her hands into fists. "This is not happening! It's not!" she
screamed at the startled men. They drew back as her rage flared. She could
see straight these fools. "I will not be insulted, you bastards!" Noin
turned and fled the room.
She ran as fast as her legs would go. Pushing through the people, she
rushed outside. Behind her, Noin could hear Lady Une yelling her name,
begging her to stop. I will not go back. I can't!
She slowed down as the forest came into view. Noin sighed, and moved the
branches out of her path as she walked deeper through the woods. Using a
free hand, she wiped the tears that ran down her face. Her legs began to
ache from the sudden sprint.
She sighed again, softly this time, and leaned against a tree. Her
blurry vision slowly cleared, enough for her to inspect her surroundings.
Noin looked in every direction, only to see more trees. She shook her head.
It doesn't matter, she thought. Nothing does anymore.
She reached into her pocket and pulled out a piece of paper. Noin stared
at it wordlessly. Her eyes grew distant. Zechs, she sadly asked, are you
really dead? Did the dream mean nothing at all?

Beamlights of sun broke through the canopy as the wind ran through the
trees. She shuttered as some fell upon her sleeping form, momentarily
pushing the coldness away. Noin's eyes fluttered open.
"Where..." she muttered, holding her head. She had a hell of headache,
almost like she had come from a hangover. Cursing herself for skipping
breakfast and lunch, she rubbed her strained neck muscles. Noin made a
mental note to never willingly sleep against a tree again.
After stretching several times, she stood up. Clutching the tree beside
her, she swayed for a moment, disoriented. I need to get out of here, she
thought.
She stared around herself. Now...which way did I come in? She blinked.
Everything looked the same. "Oh God," she muttered, "I'm so STUPID!" She
felt the panic rise in her chest. I can't remember. I can't REMEMBER!
She fell back onto her knees. She clenched her hands together, and
brought them down on the earth. Again and again she pounded the ground in
frustration. "No. No! NO!" she screamed relentlessly. "Damn you! I hate
you! I hate YOU, Zechs!"
She hunched over, sobbing uncontrollably. Why? I don't understand. Why
did you leave me? WHY?!

She stared into the sky silently. Noin watched a bird fly from tree top
to tree top. It looked so happy and content. Everything she wasn't.
Everything she'd never be without him. Without Zechs.
A dull ache throbbed in her hands. They were still balled into fists,
dirty and scraped. She lay on her back, motionless. Had anyone been
watching her, Noin looked dead, even up close. Her skin was pale, almost a
pasty white. The color had drained from her lips, and they were slightly
parted, never moving. The only sign of life was the painfully slow rise and
fall of her chest.
Noin imagined them laughing. She could see Lady Une and the men gathered
around a large conference desk, smirking and chuckling. They thought she was
crazy. Totally off the walls. She could still hear the disbelief in their
voices when they protested to her 'insane' idea.
"It's not insane," she had pleaded. "Really, he's alive. I know it!"
Lady Une had given her a sympathic, almost sad look. Even she did not
believe Noin. Instead, she suggested that Noin take a week vacation.
"To rest," she had explained. But Noin knew what she really meant. To
accept the fact that Zechs Merquise was gone forever. To let him go.
Noin just couldn't do that. She wouldn't. I won't give up. I promised.
END OF PART ONE
Well... What do you think? Is it promising?
