FAR AWAY

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Author's note: Far Away is a song by Chantal Kreviazuk. GW is a property of Sunrise. I don't own them. So, please don't sue me - I'm just a crazy lil girl!
Relena popped a CD into the 3-disc changer and turned the volume to the max. She was seated inside the van, while the others wandered in the field. She had gotten together the whole gang: the five pilots, Zechs, Noin, Dorothy, Cathrine, Hilde, Ann, Sally and Mariemaia, for a picnic.
She felt that she needed a rest, alone, while the others were running around, throwing petals on each other. Relena smiled faintly. It's good to have everyone else in one place, and just having fun. And she felt that she owed a 'thanks' to Duo for convincing Heero to come with them.
She watched appreciatively as Duo and Hilde chased each other, with the first tripping over a silent Wufei, causing the Chinese pilot to stand up and angrily chase Duo, with Hilde following close to prevent an unwanted fight. And Sally just sitting there, laughing at them.
Ann sat beneath a tree, holding a sleeping Mariemaia, and stroking her short red hair. She knew Ann loved Mariemaia very much like her own daughter, and Relena felt happy for her.
Trowa, Cathrine, Quatre, and Dorothy sat in a circle, having small talks, while Duo, Wufei and Hilde ran, chasing each other, around them. Cathrine and Dorothy had tried to shoo the three away to no avail.
Ann had been shouting at them to keep quiet, while Sally was totally folded over, laughing at their antics.
Relena laughed softly at that.
In one secluded area, Zechs, her brother, was lying on the grass, watching the clouds drift in the perfect blue sky, while Noin caressed him, stroking his face, and his long flaxen hair, with his arms around her waist.
Relena smiled softly. Cute.
And her eyes traveled again, laying on a boy seated with his back turned from everyone else - from her. Alone, even with the company of his fellow pilots.
Then the music she fancied most started playing.
And Relena felt like singing along, as she blankly stared at the boy, like time and time again.
Make me believe in you
Honestly for real; one thing true
Take me in, in your arms
Wandering alone seems so far…
Relena closed her eyes. How could he not see? How could he not know how much important he is to her? But…
As much as she want to…To tell him…
But how could she do that? How could she let him know?
Let me know that you've
Made it as far as forever
Let me know that you
Hear when I cry if you can
Sometimes she wished she wasn't herself. That she was someone else. So that she wouldn't feel like this hopeless girl. And sometimes, even with her good life and reputation, she envied her brother for having someone - to hold, to love, and to have. Because, at least, his relationship with Noin was clear to everyone else. Because they have made it as far as this, and now they're happy.
If only she could have someone too.
You're far away from me
You're far away from me
You're far away from me
Come a little closer
Just a little
Before she knew it, her hands were reaching out the window…Wanting to hold him in her arms. But she quickly withdrew. That's silly. Why does she have to make the move anyway? If he felt something for her, then he should be the one to walk to her. Not her to him.
But…
Let me know that heaven sees
Shines on life our memories…
Make me feel all that you are
Angel child or radiant star
She sighed again. Her hands closing and stretching out again…
'Cause I know that we'll meet up again in forever
Let me know that you'll be waiting for me in the end
She watched as Noin leans closer and presses her lips against Zechs' and he pulled her closer. Relena felt her tears burn with tears. She envied them. Envied everyone else who has someone to hold in his or her arms.
She envied them for being happy.
You're far away from me
You're far away from me
You're far away from me
Come a little closer
Just a little closer
Relena rests her head on the rolled-down, open window watching her friends have fun under the perfect sky, the sun shining down on them.
You're far away from me
You're far away from me
You're far away from me
And as if he heard her plea, Heero turned his head and looked directly at her. Relena's eyes widened and she backed a bit. He-Heero's coming towards me?
"Relena, I'm here." he whispered.
Then she found herself smiling. Completely.
Come a little closer
Just a little
Heero opened the door to the van and sat on the driver's seat beside her.
"Relena…" he murmured as he inched closer to her.
Relena smiled softly, blushing, as she pressed against him, her head resting on his chest.
Just a little
