A man dressed in a familiar military uniform looked up from his desk. He raised an eyebrow. "Yes?" The lieutenant raised his hand to his forehead in salutation. "A message from the sentry line just came out: The patrol ships had just gone off to Resource Colony MO IV." Garth smiled thinly. He took the crystalline goblet between his fingers and watched the precious wine sparkle in its own glory. He looked up at the officer with his dark eyes and said, "Very well then." And turned to his own business. The officer looked at him, waiting.
Garth had noticed the lieutenant's change in expression. He put the goblet onto the table and grinned. "Can't wait, Dalley?" he asked, tapping his gloved finger. "No, sir." "Good. You can go back to your work." "Sir?" He looked at Lieutenant Dalley darkly. "Just do as I say. I'll tell you what to do next..." The officer bowed and his image banished from the screen.
Garth stood up and walked to the window. He touched his hand to the cold glass, stared into the emptiness of space. "Soon." He mumbled.
"Soon..."
"Sir, reports have come...They say that we are almost ready for the assault." Officer Walker said as he handed out report sheets to Captain Garth. "Ah, yes. They do not know that we still live, do they?" he chuckled lowly as he stared out into space on the large window. The captain's room was poorly lit. Very uninviting. Very dark. Walker felt it give him the wiggins. He folded his arms across his chest. "The civilians. They do not know."
The officer sneered, almost proud. Garth raised his eyebrow as he looked at the young man. "Oh, you're very confident aren't you?" he said mockingly. The officer gave him a half-smile and told him that no, he was just stating the fact that the civilians' think that they are far from danger. Garth nodded, turning his attention back out the window. "How about the Preventers? Une do still have the knack to establish a "peace-keeping" agency." He said. "Ah, sir. You do not need to worry about it. They do not know of our existence." Garth smiled at that.
"Know what? I've been planning to do this for my entire life with the Federation."
"Sir?"
Garth looked at Walker. "Nothing. Just go and wait for my orders."
And with that, Walker left.
Garth turned to face the bay window, a sneer curved on his lips. The commander would be very happy to hear what he has got to say.
