the tale

safiel is a member of the black moon family, and is prince dimando's brother. safiel does not play a huge part in the black moon family's plans, only that he made the crystal figurines for esmeraude. safiel can mostly be found lurking in the shadows, keeping an eye on his brother and wiseman. he is also usually found argueing with esmeraude and his brother, or eavesdropping on conversations between other people. usually from his lack of trust or confidance in them.

his past

safiel and his brother were kids on earth, before they were sent away to nemesis. while on nemesis, safiel found a flower growing amidst a field of nothingness and showed it to dimando. his brother promised him that one day that he would see many more because one day, they would live on earth again.

in the end ...

after esmeraude is killed, his suspicions of wiseman begin to grow. he breaks into the chamber where the black crystal is being held, and finds wiseman thinking aloud about his plans to continue to manipulate dimando and destroy the universe. safiel panics and tries to leave and save his brother, but wiseman catches him and sends a blast of energy at safiel, near fatally injuring him. wiseman readies another blast, but safiel teleports out in time.

he arrives on earth and passes out in the grass, commenting before he loses consciousness that he thought he would never smell that sweet scent again. petz finds him and takes him back to her and her sisters apartment where he wakes up find that his wounds have been dressed. she enter and tells him that she is the eldest, and should therefore take the punishment that was intened for all the ayakashi sisters for leaving the black moon family. he explains that he is not there to punish them and was in fact trying to escape from wiseman and warn his brother about him. even though he is still extremely weak, he gets up and tries to leave to warn his brother. petz breaks down into tears and tells him not to go because she has feelings for him. he ignores this new revelation and goes to warn his brother anyway, telling her that he'll probably come back to her afterwards to get his jacket.

safiel finds his brother and tries to tell him of wiseman's cunning. just as he is about to tell him, wiseman appears and sends a blast as safiel. he falls to the ground, and the bandages around his forehead unwrap to show that his black moon insignia gone, and he dies. dimando becomes enraged at wiseman, who brushes it off as safiel being a traitor, and all traitors must die. dimando revcoves his brother's body, and carrys it away, face full of grief, and mutter's the name of his brother's murderer hatefully.

in my humble opinion

i like safiel, i'm not sure why but i do. i guess it's because he's sort of a freeloader (like me) and is always eavesdropping and nosing around in other people's business. i never understood why nobody ever listned to him, everything he warned anyone about was the truth. i guess the only reason anyone put up with him was because he was their leaders' brother. poor safiel. he was a pretty crafty guy too.

i would also like to point out that i HATED the dub version of this episode, it was butchered from the original - LITERALLY! parts were cut and pasted. i'm serious, i saw the subtitled version, and then a few weeks later i saw the dubbed and nearly ralphed at how bad it was! not to mention the fact that in the sub he really didn't seem to interested in the love that petz offered, and more or less shot her down, now, as for the dub ... well, we all know about that ...
