We learn and grow, trying to understand ourselves. It is out nature to become more than who and what we are. Some see this as bearing children. Others see it as touching the stars.
SETI is the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, but it is something far greater. It is the search for ourselves. It is the search to understand the Universe and find out who and what we are. The answers lie in the stars and in our very veins. We need only to listen.
I do not go to space to find aliens. I go to space to find myself. I go to find the Truth. I go to find out Why. We are the Universe. Our bodies have come from the stars. The more we know about the Universe, the more we know about where we came from and where we are going. It is our destiny to leave Earth and expand into space. We have to. One day, Sol will grow cold and die. On that glorious sorrowful day, all that we were, are, and ever-will-be will die. We will not have even existed. Our only hope is to reach out and hold the stars in our hands. For, if life touches a thousand points of light, we can never die. If we do not, our names will be forgotten and our stories will never be told. All that we learned will bow to silence, no one there to remember.
It is our nature to become more than what we are. That is why we left the caves and crossed the Atlantic. That is why we look up at the stars and dream the same dream that a thousand great men have already dreamt. It is our nature to spread and share information. That is the secret of the internet. This great invention fully demonstrates human kind's nature to become more. Why are there websites? Why are there homepages? We all want to be remembered. We all want to teach. We all want to create. It is our nature to share knowledge and become something greater.
