Please read all the rules! Some of them are very obvious, but some could be helpful. Thanks!

1. No swearing, or other non-kid-friendly things -- and that includes swear words with symbols. If there's swearing (etc.) in anything you send me, I will either edit it or send it back to you to be re-written, depending on how bad it is.

2. No lemons or limes! If two characters kiss, then say something like "Ted leaned over and kissed Tina sweetly." Less colorful than a three-page long steamy scene involving lots of description of tongue? Yeah, but it's also much more appropriate for what we're doing here!

3. Do not play anyone else's character without their permission. You don't know what the other player thinks they'll do in a given situation, so don't try to guess. Remember your rights -- your character is yours, and nobody else's. If someone uses yours without your permission, tell your group leader, and they'll remove the conversation from the log.

4. Please be polite to all members of the RPG! Just because Digidestined Sally insults Digidestined John (I sure hope none of the RPG members have those names... ^_^;;;) doesn't mean that Person John should be mean to Person Sally -- this is just for fun, guys! Let's see if we can't make some new friends during this thing. ^_^

5. This is an alternate-universe RPG, so please don't mention the characters from the TV show, okay? Also, definitely do not PLAY characters from the show. This is all about character interactions, and we all know how Taichi and Sora act, so where's the fun in playing them?

6. A player may have up to two characters, but only one character per group (otherwise, the group would shut down if they had to be away for a while). Everyone who signs up is allowed to play, no questions asked -- but second characters can be denied for any reason. Also, players should participate in a group for a while before submitting a second character (some RPing from the group should be posted on the website first, so that I can see whether they're active). Players are not allowed to have more than two characters -- but they are allowed to play additional tag-along/evil Digimon, as long as the other members of their group don't mind.

7. And, of course, have fun!!

How to Sign Up:
Choose a free crest from the Signup Page, and create a character. Fill in the form on that page -- including a description of your character -- and email it to Malathyne.

You do not have to create a Digimon! I want every Digimon to be unique, so that is probably something best left to me. I have created Digimon partners for almost all of the available crests, and will be happy to create them for you if you think up your own crest. Note that most of the Digimon are made-up (due to the fact that there are not that many Digimon on the show and cards), so they can still look like whatever you want. If you really want to create your own Digimon, however, you may send it to me -- just be sure to include Rookie, Champion, and Ultimate, and attacks for each level.

If you do not hear from Malathyne within a few days of signing up -- unless there is a notice on the front page saying that she will be away -- please email her again or email me. It may just be that she has not been able to check her email, but there is always the chance that the email might not have gotten through properly, or that she accidently forgot to respond to you after updating the website. Also, you can check the main page of the RPG site to see if there is a notice up for ::your player name:: to make sure their email is working, because we cannot contact you. These notices will generally stay up for a month or two before the player's character is deleted from the site and the crest reopened.

You can check the web for pages with authentic names from various countries (the term "baby names" can be especially helpful). I no longer know of any specific good resources for this, but the information is available, and can make it easier for you to create a character that isn't from an English-speaking country.

That's all it takes to sign up to play!

How to Begin Playing:
After getting a response from me approving your character, you can start getting ready to play.

Before you can be put into a smaller group to RP (more on that below), you have to get your character to Digiworld. Here are the rules for how to write the introductory story that will do that:
Your character must get to Digiworld via some sort of electronic or digital device.
Just get to Digiworld -- introducing your Digimon will come later, as will getting your crest.
Try to give us a look at how your character thinks, acts, lives, etc. What's going on inside its brain?
Be as original as possible -- it IS hard, with so many different people doing things, but give it a try. Directly copying someone else's story is definitely not allowed.
In general -- group leaders may change this for their groups -- we're using 01 digivices, along with the crests. Also, remember that digivices can have color -- the same color as the crest. At least, they did at the end of 01!
When you've finished your story, email it to Malathyne. Copy-and-pasting it into an email works fine, just remember to have a blank line in between paragraphs (unlike this list), so that she can tell where to do breaks. Otherwise, it might end up in a big square blob. If you know HTML, adding in the tags would be great, but if you don't know it, don't sweat it.

Once Malathyne recieves your introductory story, she'll put you on the list of people in need of a group. You may get in one instantly, or it might be a few weeks, so please be patient. If it will take a while, you will be updated occasionally with the status.

How to Play/About Groups:

Okay, onto the slightly confusing part. There are dozens of people in this RPG. If we all tried to play together in one big group, a couple of things would happen: 1) It would take hours every day just to read through all the emails sent back and forth, even if they were all only in-character posts, 2) nobody would be able to follow what was going on, and 3) there would quickly be hundreds of pages of posts that people would have to catch up on to be able to play properly. It would be insane; it would be impossible. So instead, I'm breaking the players up into groups of around seven or eight (anybody recognize those numbers from the show?). Who is in a group is purely based on who signs up when. It's first-come, first-serve, in a way -- only there's nothing worse about being in a new group than an old group.

A new group will be started up when there are about four people ready to play. Other players will be added in as they write their intro stories, until there are around eight people, or however many the group leader wants. Group leaders are chosen based on a couple of things: They should be kind, responsible, and have enough free time to do all the little managing chores; having AIM is preferable, since it means that we can talk instantaneously; and previous RPG experience is helpful. Please remember that only one out of eight people can be a group leader, so if you aren't chosen for the job, it's not a personal insult. We try to be as fair as possible.

That pretty much explains all you need to know about the RPG to sign up and get playing. I hope to be getting an application from you soon! ^_^
