Chris, for his part, simply clung even harder to Shiisamon, and tried to stay away from Sayu's dagger.
Sayu made a sound that, if she hadn't been Sayu, would have been a whimper. She really did NOT like water. She allowed Isthian to pull her off of Shiisamon's head without complaint, which showed just how panicky she currently was. Especially since she clung to Isthian for dear life while trying not to get the dagger close to him, lest it rebound and send her flying.
"Water bad bad bad bad bad...." Sayu whined, having had way too much experience with water in the past two days. Or whatever it'd been since she met the others.
Kamika looked on at the odd scene. "Oh-kay. . ." she muttered. "I wonder what's wrong with water. . . Sayu acts like it's a humongous predator or some sort."
Puttimon thought about this and spoke as wisely as a teddy bear could, "It's probably one of her fears, I suspect."
Kamika rose an eyebrow, "And what, I might ask, tells you this?"
"It COULD be the fact that currently she's whining 'Water bad bad bad. .' And you get the idea." Puttimon said with a grin.
Kamika rolled her eyes, "Well thanks for stating the obvious."
"I always do."
Thian cautiously slipped his arm around Sayu and helped her down off of Shiisamon's head. He wasn't entirely sure she wasn't going to turn around and stab him, but he wasn't thrilled at the thought of having to swim, either. "Okay," he said, when they were safely seated below the Champion's neck, "if we've all stopped shooting and shoving each other... for right now... maybe we can get a plan? Someone's going to have to go get Fi-girl and my blobby-thing before we can leave, and someone's going to have to get off of this Digi, or we'll ALL end up in the water." He glanced around. "I vote for Chris!"
Sayu, still being rather scared out of her mind, was actually clinging to Isthian and trying to stay as far away from the water as possible. When Isthian suggested getting someone off Shiisamon, and voted Chris, Sayu temporarily regained some of her personality. "Yeah, I vote Chris too!" She sneered.
"Alright, then! Chris it is!" Thian leaned over to give the other boy a shove into the water, but discovered that he was unfortunately out of reach. "Uhh, Sayu? Not that I don't love having you here with me, but..." he stopped short, thought for a moment, then just sat back and grinned. "Actually, never mind! Someone else can shove him off, and that'll be just fine!" He grinned more broadly. "Always nice to be with a girl with sensible tastes!"
Sayu glowered at Isthian while still clinging to him. "If we weren' in the water right now, I'd..." For once in her life, Sayu stopped and sensibly reasoned that: piss of the guy keeping you out of water = get pushed in water. Sayu blinked. "Nevermind." She muttered. This kid wasn't THAT bad... if you ignored the egotisticalness.... and the stupidity... and the fact that he was annoying as hell... and thought he was Ra's gift to women... and... Okay, he was that bad, but he wasn't as bad as the chaotic demon boy aka Podima.
Sayu blinked again. Was she actually getting used to these weirdoes? Ugh. And her street accent was pretty much nonexistent now. What was wrong with her?! Erk!
Aemon, meanwhile, had learned how to flap his ears properly so he could fly. "Wheeeeee! Lookit me! I can flyyyyyyyy~!" He squealed, being absolutely adorable. "Oooo, let's see if I can carry you!" And Aemon promptly picked up Wollymon by grabbing some of his... er, head with his chibi-feet, and flew towards his Partner. "Wheeeee! Lookit me! I can fly and carry Wollymon! Wheeeeeeeeee~!" And he promptly landed on Sayu's head, dropping Wollymon next to Isthian, beaming for all he was worth. Sayu rolled her eyes, but let him perch on her head.
Chris glared at them all. "I'm NOT getting off. If I do, you'll all probably just leave me here floating!"
Kamika shook her head, almost having Puttimon fly off her head once again. "You know, I'll just volunteer to go get her," she muttered then realized that if she left without SAYING anything, they'd all just continue arguing. She cleared her throat to get their attention and then said LOUDLY, "I will go and get Fiona from shore if that's okay with all of you."
"BLOBBY-THINGY!" Isthian shouted happily and pulled his Digimon into a one-armed hug, before blushing and letting go. "I'm surprised you didn't get yourself squished up there." He blushed and looked for something else to look at, finally settling on Chris. "Not very generous of you not to jump off, now is it? We wouldn't leave you unless we had to! Or, you know, really really wanted to, but that's the same thing, right?"
Wollymon, also blushing slightly, but from pleasure, smiled at Kamika. "I think that's a good idea! But..." he furrowed his brow slightly (such as he could, considering that he didn't have eyebrows), "can you swim? Or fly? Because it's a long way up that cliff, and we're kinda far from shore..."
Kamika sweatdropped, "Er. . . That's a good point. . ." she slightly tilted her head up to Puttimon, "You can't do either of those things, can you?"
Puttimon shook her head, "Nope, nuh-uh, never."
Sighing, Kamika turned back to look at Wollymon, "Great load of help MY digimon is."
"HEY!" Puttimon said, frowning.
"Just kidding," Kamika teased.
Wollymon smiled at Puttimon. "It's alright! I can't swim or fly, either." He looked up at the cliff, and sweatdropped. "There is one Digimon here who CAN fly, though..." He glanced sideways at his partner, who was busy provoking Chris, and sighed heavily. "One..."
Kamika looked at Wollymon sympathetically. Following his gaze, she turned to Isthian, "Isthian. . . It's Chris's choice whether or not he wishes to go," she then faced Chris, "He'll choose the right choice." She added softly, staring at him.
Puttimon blinked, focused on Chris, then turned to Isthian and lastly to Sayu. "Hmmm. . . Something seemed to have happened," she scratched her head but then shrugged.
"How is Tekumon supposed to go get Fiona? Unless you want him to shoot her down again, there's not much he can do! He's digivolved so much recently that he's pretty tired!"
Tekumon nodded. "Plus, the water doesn't look all that inviting..." He shuddered. "If I went to get her, I'd fear for my circuits. She'd probably knock me down into the water!"
"...I could see if I could Digivolve and go get her." Aemon said uncertainly. "As Gizamon, I can swim, and as Maildramon, I can fly." The In-Training glanced at Sayu nervously, to see how she was taking his volunteering help, but she was still clutching Isthian and looking very much afraid, and he knew she'd prefer to be on Maildramon's back in the air than Shiisamon's back in the water. So he took that as an affirmative to his help. And, against all the laws of Digivolution....
"Aemon digivolve to... Gizamon! Gizamon digivolve to... Maildramon!" Before going to get Fiona, Maildramon allowed his Partner to clamber frantically on to his back. She was probably mentally scarred for life being that close to water for such a long period of time.
Anyway, Maildramon flew up to the cliff, got Fiona onto his back, and flew back so he was hovering above Shiisamon. "What now?" he asked.
Kamika waved at Maildramon from her spot in the water, "I don't suppose I could have a ride as well?" she asked.
Puttimon nodded, "I think we've stayed in the water a bit too long." Kamika nodded in agreement.
Maildramon nodded his head. "Sure!" He descended so that he was flying next to and very slightly above Shiisamon - close enough for Kamika and Puttimon to be able to climb aboard. "Come right on!"
Sayu was eyeing the water suspiciously, and so couldn't really complain.
"Okay! Now can we get going to find that tropical island-thing?" Chris groused.
Kamika first took off Puttimon and placed her on Maildramon. Then she sat herself down, "It'd be nice to leave EXCEPT. . . we're slightly forgetting a few people," she said pointing at the people still in the water or shore or who KNOWS where.
Isthian sighed and responded to the airborne girl. "Are we? Aren't we always? Aggh, okay, uhh... there were, um... how many again?"
"Eight, Thian!"
"Right, okay! Um... Me... You... the girl with you... 'Merican... Fiona... Digi's girlie, of course..." He paused to pat Shiisamon fondly. "That's everyone here... So that leaves Taira and Kyra!" He shifted his attention to Sayu. "Hey, you! There's someone else on the cliff we need, okay?" Without waiting for a response, he started scanning the water. "KYYYYYRAAAAAA! FREE VACATION IN A TROPICAL PARADISE! COME AN' GET IT!"
Fiona would've screamed again. She didn't like animals very much. Except cute little kittens. And Penguinmon. Anything else was way too slimy or loud or scary... but all the running had worn her out. She gave in and laid back. "A tropical island doesn't sound so bad. How long do you think it'll take us to get there?" she sad, to no one in particular.
Sabirdramon, tired from chasing Fiona, de-digivolved and joined her on Maildramon's back.
"Penguinmon!" cheered Fiona, and she hugged her partner. "Where have you been? This big scary bird thing was chasing me... and..."
Penguinmon sighed and began trying to explain it all to her.
Sayu shrugged. Maildramon obediently flew over the cliff. "Anyone need a ride?" he asked of Taira, Damen, and their Digimon cheerfully.
Kyrainia was getting tried. Very tried. She hadn't stopped swimming since she started, and realized that being stuck in the ocean while very tired was not a good thing. At least nothing was trying to attack her anymore.
She continued to swim.
She could hear Thian yelling something, but all she heard was 'Kyra' and 'free vacation'. And she sure as hell wasn't going to fall for a free vacation. And the fact that he had called her 'Kyra' was certainly not helping things.
....and even if she swam back to them, she'd still have to swim. And she was oh so very tired. She sighed and continued to swim, although tiredly, in the direction that she was going.
Mushroomon, meanwhile, was still on the cliff. "Hmpth! I dunno what to do now!!" He just jumped around, trying to think of ways to help Kyrainia, but not knowing how. And everyone was pretty much gone already anyway. Mushroomon started to cry.
Isthian sighed. "This isn't working! I can't spot her anywhere, can you?" He gave up and leaned back, propping himself up with his right arm since his left side was hurt. "We have to find her soon, though... Sayu might have gotten lucky, but I don't think this is a good time to count on luck!" Thian twisted around to see back over his shoulder. "Looks like the girls are helping out Taira and the other cliff-dwellers... But does anyone have an idea for how we're gonna rescue Kyra? I'm all out of ideas."
Chris poked Shiisamon. "Why don't we start swimming and looking for Kyrainia? The others will catch up on Maildramon, I bet."
Shiisamon started swimming. It was, strangely, a lot easier for her to stay afloat swimming than just treading water.
"Hey, wait for me!" complained Christo, swimming frantically to keep up. She swung up out of the water and on to Shiisamon's back.
"You'll make me sink again." grumbled the digimon.
"Don't worry, you'll be able to carry us." said Christo reassuringly.
"That's a good thing... but what makes you so sure?" Shiisamon eyed her partner.
Christo brandished a book, "Because it's in the script."
"The what?"
"Never mind."
Maildramon, tired of waiting for Taira and Damen and their Digimon (or, rather, Foxmon, since the Gomamon were still in the water) to get on his back, bodily grabbed them and put them on his back, then flew off to fly right above Shiisamon. He ended up giving directions, because he knew where Metalseadramon's place was and he didn't want to go anywhere near it.
Meanwhile, Metalseadramon was eating cookies, drinking Coca-Cola, and watching Spongebob Squarepants while his 'advisors,' Whamon, Megaseadramon, and Submarimon all huddled together and discussed what the best tactics to use against the Digidestined would be.
Isthian sat back and nodded. "Yeah, going out to search seems like a good idea. I sure can't see her anywhere around here... But if the girls are up in the air looking, too, we should be able to find her in no time!" He grinned happily and tossed Wollymon into the air in celebration. "This plan I like!"
Kyrainia continued to swim, but she was really really getting tired. Very very tired. Very very sinkingly tired. Sinking...sinking...wait...she was... SINKING?!
She came to the realization that she was not very coherent anymore. And that was not a good match when it came to swimming to the shore. That was looking very far away.
She also came to the realization that there was no way in hell that she was going to make it. And that she was going to drown.
However, she didn't really care. Her coherency was going down the drain anyway. If it wasn't already gone.
....she was now really starting to dislike the water.
After they had been swimming for... about five minutes...
"I can see Kyrainia!" Christo exclaimed. She squinted with the glare from the sun, trying to se the older girl better.
"She looks like she's in trouble..." Christo called to the others, "Speed up, already, Shiisamon!"
"Easy for you to say..." muttered the digimon, swimming as fast as she could go.
"HOLD ON, KYRAINIA!" Christo called as loudly as she could, "WE'RE COMING TO GET YOU!"
Chris couldn't see Kyrainia anywhere. Then Christo yelled. "What? Where is she? I don't see her... oh, wait! There she is! She looks like she's sinking! We better get over there FAST!"
"I'm going as fast as I can!" Muttered Shiisamon, mentally cursing anything she could think of. And, being Shiisamon, she instantly regretted it.
Kamika just sat on Maildramon slightly feeling awkward. "This really isn't very nice. . . I do not really like the height. . ." she moaned a little.
Puttimon patted her on the head, "It's okay. . . We'll be fine!"
"Whatever you say. . ." she said, tightly closing her eyes.
"There she is! Kyrainia! Hold on!!" Isthian jumped into the water, Wollymon clutched tightly under his arm. He swam the few strokes over to her and tried to support her in the water while shoving Wollymon into her hands. "There, take him! He floats." The little yellow smiley face did nothing to argue against this, as he was currently trying to gasp in air whenever his mouth bobbed above the surface.
Chris watched as Isthian swam over to help Kyrainia. Frankly, she didn't look too good. He jumped into the water and swam over, starting to help keep the rest of them afloat.
Shiisamon swam over to where Kyrainia was. "Kyrainia--get on my back!" she called, pulling up beside the girl.
Kyrainia growled, pushing Wollymon away, and trying to get away from all of them. "Bloody hell! It's not like I'm dying! Not like I'm close to being unconscious!" Well, actually, she was really tired and couldn't really swim anymore, but that was beside the point.
She. Did. Not. Need. Their. Help.
Okay, so maybe she did. But she wasn't about to admit it.
"Just shut up and get on!" Christo yelled at the older girl.
"Wheeeeeeee!" Wollymon bounced and splashed through the water, finally smacking lightly to a halt against Shiisamon. He straightened himself up and bobbed next to the big Digi, catching his breath.
Isthian decided to take the more active approach of Christobel. "It's not that you need our help, it's that we need yours! I'm sure you're doing just fine on your own, but we ain't, and hanging around the ocean isn't the easiest place to beg properly, so will you please overlook that and come help us out? You coming with us isn't saying anything bad about you, it's saying it about us, but we'd still really appreciate your company. Right?"
Chris suddenly noticed that he was the only one still by Kyrainia, holding her up (though he knew she wouldn't admit it). This was probably not a good situation... although better than if he had been holding Sayu up, say. Why were so many people out for his blood these days?
If she hadn't been so tired, she probably would've snapped at someone. Or at least maimed jerk-boy. But she was tired. Too tired to really process what Thian was saying. And she really didn't care anymore. "Whatever, whatever, fine. I'll go with you, or whatever the bloody hell it is that you want."
Chris dragged Jay back onto Shiisamon, and the motley crew set off again. Soon, they saw something on the horizon. "Is... is that an island? Hey! LAND HO!" Chris yelled, actually yanking off his bandanna and waving it in the air in his excitement. "Two points nor'east, mates!"
"BANDANA FIGHT!!!" Christo yelled, pulling off HER bandana-headscarf-thing and attacking Chris with it.
"Oh yeah--well you fight like a cow!" she yelled at him, laughing her head off.
"Rock the boat, why don't you..." muttered Shiisamon.
"Uh... HUH. Okie dokie!" Isthian scrambled as best he could to the other side of Shiisamon to avoid being blinded by a flailed bandanna. "How glad I am that we're about to land..." He picked Wollymon up and set him on his head so that the little blob wouldn't be blinded, either. "Come on, Doggymon, land us fast!"
Christo fell into the water, missing Chris with her bandana by a mile. She surfaced, spitting out water.
"It was your own fault, you know," said Shiisamon severely, as Christo climbed back on.
"Uh-huh. Sure. Whatever," mumbled Christo, trying to re-tie her bandana.
Within a few moments, they'd neared the island enough that Chris was able to jump off Shiisamon, and land on the island. The beach was sandy, and the island seemed relatively large, in that he couldn't see the whole thing from where he stood. "Come on, guys, let's explore!"
Maildramon landed on the island, letting his passengers get off before de-Digivolving to Gizamon. He then promptly flopped onto the ground, his stomach growling and looking very, very tired. Sayu rolled her eyes again, but she knew she was hungry, too. So she glowered at Chris.
"We eat first, Podima," she snarled. "Besides, we haven' eaten since this mornin', have we?" She glanced up at the sky, which showed the sun high above them, which meant it was about mid-day or so.
Fiona jumped off Maildramon, glad to be on dry, solid land again. So glad, in fact, she kneeled down and kissed it, despite the sandy grossness of it all. Getting up again, she pranced around the shore happily and began to sing, "LA LA LA LA LA, I'M NOT ON DRUGS! LA LA LA LA LA, I'M NOT ON DRUGS!"
Christo jumped off Shiisamon, and landed, splashing, in knee depth waters. She ran to the shore, laughing. Shiisamon promptly de-digivolved to Labramon, and followed her.
Christo pulled off her backpack. The contents had been rather soaked in the water.
"Oh well. At least my clothes had a good wash," she muttered, undoing her boots, preferring to walk barefoot on the sand. Besides, you should never wear boots with wet insides and/or wet socks for too long. She grimaced, pulling what was once her diary out of her backpack.
"Damn water always so full of wetness..." she mumbled.
Isthian smirked. "Ooh, are we having a wet t-shirt contest?" He splashed over to the shore, Wollymon still perched rather oddly on his head. "I think you're right, though, some food would be good first. We can save the entertainment for later."
Although he wasn't sure what Thian was talking about, Wollymon couldn't help but notice that he was talking to the girls, and that usually didn't end up being a good thing. Recognizing that cowardice was the better part of discretion, he jumped off (bouncing almost a foot back into the air when he hit the ground), and hopped over to the group of people that seemed the sanest -- namely, the Digimon. "Hey, guys, wanna go forage? I'm not sure these guys know how to too well."
Fiona hopped over to Isthian, still high on life and happy to be alive. "I'll help you too, Isthian," she said cheerfully.
Tekumon fluttered over to the other digis. "You guys ready to go find food? The humans should be okay while we're gone."
Meanwhile, Chris had been looking around on the stretch of beach that they were landed on, and had found nothing besides some driftwood and a lotta sand. He came running back in time to hear Thian's 'wet T-shirt' comment. "What? Where?"
Kamika dismounted from whatever digimon she had been on. She THOUGHT it had been Maildramon but in the rush of things, she might be mistaken. Hearing both Isthian's statement and Chris's reply to it, she sweatdropped. "There IS no wet T-shirt contest. . As though we would want to have that ANYWAY. Or that the girls would agree to it."
"Oh, well, guess I just heard wrong," Isthian sighed heavily. "But hey!" he exclaimed, grinning jauntily and draping an arm around Fi's shoulders. "Girls love a creative guy with a good imagination, right?" He winked.
Wollymon bounced and took a quick count over the Digis present. "Yeah, let's go! If the humans miss us, I'll bet they'll be happy enough for the food that they won't mind." His tummy -- and he was, after all, not much more than that -- rumbled, making him sweatdrop. "Yeah... So come on, let's go!" He bounced off into the shrubbery.
Fiona smiled.
"Hey, wait for me!" called Labramon, hurrying after the other digimon.
"We're going to find food!" she called back to Christo.
"OK," called Christo distractedly, trying to wash her old clothes that she had been wearing when she came to the digiworld.
Tekumon followed Wollymon and the others into the shrubbery. The undergrowth was pretty dense, and he had some trouble staying aloft.
Meanwhile, Chris was still on shore, looking around interestedly at anything but Isthian and Fiona.
Isthian sauntered away from the water's edge, his arm still around Fiona's shoulders. He flopped down when the sand started to turn into small, scruffy not-really-bushes, pulling his now-a-girlfriend down with him. He crossed his legs and leaned his head against her shoulder. "It's nice like this, isn't it?" His eyes drifted wearily half-closed, but he was smiling.
"Yes."
"I-"
Kamika made her way towards Chris, not noticing that Puttimon had disappeared. She tapped him on the shoulder, "So what do you think about our nice adventure so far?" she asked as she looked around at the group. Smiling, she leaned against him, as she awaited his reply.
Puttimon followed all the other digimon. "So what kind of food are we looking for?" she asked curiously, spotting some berries and picking them. Heck if she knew if they were poisonous or not. . Or for that matter, if she knew what poison was? Oh well, she just grabbed as many as she could hold in her small arms and continued to see what else might be "edible."
"Umm... I dunno," answered Wollymon. "I guess, well, anything we can find, really. We've lots of hungry people an' Digis to feed, after all." He sweatdropped as he saw Puttimon struggling to carry a load of food. "And I'm not sure how much help I'll be, here."
Chris sighed and flopped down on the sand. Though he hadn't been letting on, he was still sore all over from that Seadramon attack. Lucky it had only glanced him. He looked at Kamika, sifting the warm sand through his fingers. "It's quite an adventure, to say the least... I still wonder some about why it was us that were picked, though, y'know."
Meanwhile, foraging in the bushes, Tekumon had found a bunch of food with the others. However, he heard some rustling behind him, and whirled, dropping the fruit. "W-who's there?"
What appeared to be a large red penguin popped out of the bushes. "Holla, mon! I'm Muchomon! What ya doin' here, mon?"
Wollymon, although a little startled, wasn't surprised. After all, this was a rather nice island -- maybe even one of those tropic-thingies that Thi had been rambling on about -- so of course there'd be lots of new friends for them to meet here! "Hi!" he greeted cheerfully. "I'm Wollymon and it's great to meet you! We're travelling around and we found your island and it looks just great! We're getting food for our friends right now, because we're all really hungry." He grinned at the tropical penguin invitingly. "Would you like to come and have lunch with us? I'm sure everybody'd love to meet you, too!"
Labramon smiled at the new digimon, "Do you know if there's any fruit growing on this island?" she asked.
"Lunch, mon? Sounds good ta me! Whereall ya sittin', eh? Me tum's rumblin' like nothin' else 'round here!" Muchomon patted his stomach with a large red flipper.
Sayu, meanwhile, was wandering away from the others on the beach, Gizamon following her. She was mostly interested in her surroundings; she'd never seen anything like this before. This was such a small, tiny desert! Look at all the trees only feet away from her! Of course, she had no idea it was a beach, but oh well. So Sayu was walking and walking and walking and walking and walking...
Eventually, she'd found that none of the others were in sight, and that she'd somehow gotten lost.
Oh. Okay, then.
"Um... Sayu... where are we going?" Gizamon asked tentatively. Sayu shrugged.
"Somewhere." She replied. Gizamon blinked.
"Oh. Okay, then."
SPLASH.
"Huh?" The two looked out towards the sea in unison. There, swimming towards them, was a very familiar Digimon...
"Metalseadramon!" Gizamon meeped, and promptly hid behind Sayu.
"What d'you think you're doin'?!" She spluttered angrily. "Get out there, Digivolve, and fight!"
"...I'm too hungry to even manage an attack in this form!"
"You impossible little... ARGH!" Sayu promptly picked him up and started shaking him back and forth. "What'd you go and do somethin' so stupid as not eating for, eh?!"
"We've had no food since, like, forever!"
"And that's my fault?!"
"Yes! You're the human! You get the food!"
"No, you're the scavenging little monster-thing! You get the food!"
"...Wow, you just talked right!"
"Just talked... WHY, YOU!"
DROP.
SMACK.
KICK.
*BICKER.*
And, of course, while this was going on, Metalseadramon and the Submarimons and Divermons he had with him were growing ever closer...
To make a long story short, Sayu and Gizamon just became Metalseadramon's hostages.
Back at the beach where the others were, a Seagullmon landed on the beach and looked down his beak at them all imperiously.
"My lord Metalseadramon would like to inform all of you that he has captured the Digidestined of Pride and her Digimon Partner, the traitor, Gizamon. Thank you and have a nice day." With that, he took off and flapped away.
"Great!" Wollymon replied to the Muchomon. "Hey, d'ya think we have enough food yet, guys? I wanna be getting back to Thian!"
Thian, for his part, snored loudly and fell off Fiona's shoulder, now using her lap as a pillow. The Seagullmon went entirely unheeded.
"Probably," said Labramon. "Besides, I want to get back too. Something doesn't feel right..."
"Traitor?" Christo said, somewhat quietly, "What does this all mean? But... if they're captured... I just hope Labramon and the others get back soon..."
Fiona patted the sleeping Isthian on the head and watched Muchomon with delight. She looked at the others. "You know, he's right. We haven't had food for a long time..." Her stomach grumbled and she turned red. "Not for a long, long time."
Thian rolled over, his arm flailing against Fiona's chest. He awoke with a start and frowned at the sky, then looked around blearily. "Huh? Wha's goin' on?" he slurred, noticing his teammates shocked and anxious faces. "Did I miss lunch?"
"Hey, watch it!" Fiona snapped and moved out of arm's reach of Thian. "And no, you didn't miss much. We were just about to start."
