(Section 1 of the Project: Voyager Trilogy)

"Now, Naomi, why don't you tell us exactly what happened."
Janeway said calmly.

Naomi Wildman looked up at the Captain with big, innocent
eyes. "Gee, Captain, I don't really know. All I remember is
meeting Q, then everything becomes kind of blurry."

Janeway looked up at Torres, Seven, and Paris. "Evidently,
she was just a pawn in Q's sick little game. Just as you
three were."

The three mumbled noncommittally.

"Well?"

Torres turned to Seven. "Very well. Seven, I'm - sorry for
trying to kill you."

"Apology accepted."

"Hey, what about me?" Tom exclaimed. "You tried to kill me,
too!"

"You still haven't explained where that lip gloss came
from!"

"I don't know! Maybe someone put it there!"

B'Ellana tossed her head and barked, "HA! I'm supposed to
believe that someone snuck up and put a smear of lip gloss
you without your knowledge just to frame you?!"

Naomi looked away, whistling.

"Settle that later." Captain Janeway. You are all put on
temporary suspension for one week - very light in view of
the circumstances, but due to the unusual circumstances,
unavoidable.

"Now, since there are sufficient officers present, we can
deal with the next problem. Naomi, you're dismissed."

Naomi waited until she was in the corridor before she let
her Evil Laugh peel forth. "The fools! Nya-ha-ha! They
suspect nothing! Nya-ha-ha-ha!"

In the briefing room, Ensign Lina Inverse sat in court-
martial. Charge after charge was read off, all amounting to
one thing; she blew up part of the ship.

"Have you anything to say in your defense, Ensign?" Captain
Janeway asked.

"It's all Tuvok's fault." she pouted. "If he hadn't given me
a phaser, none of this would have happened."

"Ensign Inverse, you are hereby reduced to Crewman, and you
are assigned to the repair details on Decks Ten and Eleven
until further notice. You'd also have brig time waiting, but
we need every hand at present. Dismissed."

Outside of Space and Time, Voyager was being watched by
intellects vast, powerful, and parental.

"How could they let him get away, Q?"

"How could they avoid it, Q? Don't be too harsh on them."

"Why did we ever agree to this foolishness?"

"Because I Asked For It." The Voice said, in a calm,
motherly, absolute fashion.

"That's my baby down there!" Q stated.

"And My Grandchild," the Lord of Nightmares said. "This Is
Necessary In A Greater Scheme That A Mere Elemental
Omnipotent Such As Yourself Cannot Comprehend."

"Yes, Mother," the Q's agreed shyly. It didn't pay to argue
with the Progenitor.

"Captain's Log; Stardate 54333.1;

"Repairs are going excellently. The project to convert
Transporter Two into an industrial replicator is proceeding
well, and has gotten an unexpected boost.

"Q's singularity generator is producing vast amounts of
power - more than a starbase's power system. Once the
replicator is operational, we should be restored to twenty-
fourth century operations in a matter of weeks. In addition,
the Constitution-class design gives us over twice as much
room as before, a decided bonus.

We should be underway in less than two months - a slight
delay, but we will have much more comfort than before,
without having to worry about replicator rations or
replacing shuttlecraft or trading for supplies.

"All in all, things are looking good."

Young Q stood at a nexus of infinite realities. Seeking
outward, he sought a female mind like his own.

And found it.

With a cry of joy, he launched himself toward the universe
where his One True Love awaited.

Beyond this place, the Lord of Nightmares smiled.
