Gundam Warblade

Disclaimer: Gundam Wing and Ranma 1/2 all belong to their respective
creators and... No, I still won't write you up with Ranma so... No, Wait!
Don't... ARRRGGGHHHH!

Note: Okay, this is just a test to see if I can really write this idea. Due
to several requests from my readers, I'm going to try it. This takes place
just after the battle with Saffron, but with a much different ending.

^^ ^^: Kami-sama speaking

Chapter 1

Enter the Gundam Warblade

Ranma Saotome was dying and he knew it. After that clash between himself
and Saffron, both combatants were down for the count. The Phoenix God had
returned to his egglike state, just waiting to be reborn, but the pigtailed
martial artist would not be so fortunate. He lay on the ground as his
life's blood began pooling out. Saffron would have the last laugh, for even
though he had lost this battle, the pompous godling knew that he would
survive. There was nothing more that Ranma could do as he began to fade
into darkness. The final blast between the two combatants had caused a huge
avalanche and buried the two under tons of rock. Ranma's body was crushed
from the chest down, and even if anyone were able to dig him out, they
would be too late. Ranma could do nothing but wait for the end.

Ranma Saotome then heard a voice in his head that sounded... well, sexy.

"Ranma Saotome."

Ranma tried to speak, but he couldn't get his own mouth to move, so he
answered with his mind.

<Who's there? >

"My name is not important. What is important is that you're being offered a
second chance at life. You did us all a great favor by defeating Saffron
just now."

<Second chance? You mean... I'm dead? >

"Well, relatively speaking... yes, you are. That last attack you used on
Saffron had returned him to his egg, but it used up just about all your
life energies. The injuries you sustained were fatal. Right now, your two
fiances, Akane and Shampoo are trying to dig you out, but they won't make
it in time. In any case, your body has been crushed. However, I have deemed
you worthy enough to keep on fighting for what is right. Therefore, I
decided to give you a new lease on life."

<You mean... I'm going to live? I'm going to be brought back to life? >

There was a long pause before the voice answered. "Well, you will be
returned to life... but, your life here in this plane of existence is
over."

<What?! But you said that I was going to get my life back! >

"No, I didn't say that it would be YOUR life as Ranma Saotome. Many others
need your help. You may be an egotistical, boorish and crude person, but
your heart is in the right place and I like that. Kami-sama has already
decreed that your life in this plane of existence is over, and I'm kind
of... breaking the rules by offering you this chance. You've always stood
by your honor as a martial artist to protect the weak, and the people of
another world need that. I've watched you for a while and I grown to like
your spirit and determination. It would be a great waste to have it end
here. What I am offering you is a new start. Your experiences here will be
nothing more than a forgotten memory and I'm sure there are many things
that you'd rather not remember. You will be sent to a place where your
skills will be needed."

Ranma had to agree to that. All the troubles that had plagued him since he
had come to Nerima had made life almost unbearable. The multiple fiances,
the constant fights with his rivals, Akane's abusive behavior and their
endless bickering. Even though lately, things seemed to get a little less
volatile between him and Akane, he still found their relationship as
extremely hard to maintain. Everything that had happened when he came to
Nerima had made everyone's life miserable. He then asked, <So what do you
intend to do? >

"I intend to give you a clean slate on life. Your memories of this past
life shall be wiped out and you will be given an opportunity to start over.
Now I know that you have some feelings toward this Akane, but I'm afraid
that it is not meant to be. Even if you were able to overcome your current
difficulties with her, the problems that your father had caused during your
training trip would ultimately lead to its destruction."

Ranma had to admit to that. The other fiances wouldn't take it very well
if he were to choose Akane. He didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, and
he did have some affection toward Ukyo and Shampoo as well. That was the
main reason why he just couldn't choose between them.

"I understand your reluctance Ranma, but the person that you will become in
this new life cannot have these memories. At least this way, those three
girls will be able to stop fighting and have opportunities to find their
own happiness. Without you to fight over, they'll finally be able to get on
with their lives and you will be able to lead your own fate. However, if
you do not wish for this, then I will allow you to... enter the Kami
Plane."

<So... there's no other choice? I can't go back to my old life? >

"I'm afraid not. Your life here as Ranma Saotome has been decreed by
Kami-sama himself to be over. At least this way, you'll be able to help
others and perhaps find the happiness that you were denied in this life.
So... what is your answer?"

Ranma considered hard on this decision. There had been so many troubles
that followed him throughout his life and he had often wondered what it
would be like if the main crux to all these problems: Ranma Saotome, was no
longer present. At least Akane and Ukyo would be free from their obligation
to fulfill their marriage contracts. Shampoo would be able to return home
to her village. All the enemies he had acquired would no longer be causing
trouble for others as they attacked him. Finally, he would be forever free
of that idiot father of his. All in all, it didn't seem a bad deal and it
wasn't like he had any other options.

<What about Saffron? Won't he come back and threaten them?>

"No. I've already transported his egg to another dimension where he won't
be able to do any more harm. You did us a favor by defeating him, so that's
another reason why I'm giving you this second chance. So, how about it?"

Ranma puased for a long time, then decided that it was his time to make
something of his life correction, make a new life. He silently bid his
farewells to all those who had meant so much to him and responded to the
voice. <I'll do it.>

The Goddess of the Past and Love, know to many as Urd, smiled as she cast
the spell of Reincarnation. After Ranma's body had disappeared from the
face of this world, she whispered to herself, "It is done. Ranma is on his
way."

^^Daughter...^^

<Uh oh. > Urd gulped as she turned around to face her father, the Almighty.

^^I do not recall authorizing you to send Ranma Saotome to another
dimension and giving him a new life to live. ^^

"Father, please... hasn't he suffered enough? I spent more than a year
trying to help his relationship along with that abusive girl Akane and now
this happens to him. I just couldn't..."

Kami-sama smiled as he raised a hand and replied. ^^It is all right Urd. I
was going to reprimand you by suspending your license indefinitely,
however... I approve of your actions.^^

"You... do?"

^^Indeed. You were right. Ranma has such potential and it would have been a
shame to waste it. Also, he did do us a favor by defeating Saffron just
now. Therefore, I will not punish you for going over my authority. In fact,
I had changed my mind and was about to order you to do this very thing. So
which dimension did you send him to?^^

"Dimension X-1895."

^^Excellent! And the curse?^^

"I removed it when I healed his body and transported it."

"And what about Ranma's fiances? They are about to reach where Ranma had
fallen."

"Oh darn! I forgot! Oh well, it's too late now."

On the Earth Plane, Shampoo and Akane had just moved the last of the debris
and Ranma was nowhere to be found. There was not even a trace of blood or
anything that hinted that Ranma ever existed.

Somewhere, sometime

The year is After Colony 195. The OZ organization, under the command of the
Romafeller Foundation has been using its high-level military weapons called
Mobile Suits to exert its control over the surrounding Space Colonies that
had established themselves in the deepest reaches of the solar system.
Calling themselves the United Earth Sphere Alliance, the colonies are
subjected to a forced peace through a force of arms. However, many of the
colonists protested against Oz's bid to rule over them and several rebel
groups had hatched a plan to fight back against them. And so, Operation
Meteor began...

Somewhere deep within Colony L1...

"So do you understand your mission objectives?" Doctor J asked.

A young boy of about fifteen to sixteen years old, nodded as he boarded a
sleek craft that resembled a bird. In place of beak though, was a very long
and powerful beam cannon.

"Once you reach the Earth and get yourself set up, I will begin sending you
the locations of the targets you are to destroy. For a secret cover name,
let us use the name of the leader who lead the colonies to independence
twenty years ago, Heero Yuy."

The handsome lad nodded without emotion as he closed the hatch and began
preparing for his departure. Within minutes, the space shuttle that
disguised Gundam Wing 01 was launched.

In five other colonies, a similar scene was unfolding as young teens were
being sent toward Earth in special mobile suits made of the best Gundanium
alloys. One boy in particular was being given his final instructions, as he
was about to board his machine for Earth.

"Remember to contact me as soon as you integrate into the population. I
will send you the details for your first target. Is that understood?" The
person who was speaking to the youth was known by his peers as Sensei X.

The boy nodded as he strapped himself into the cockpit of the mecha. His
gray-blue eyes showed only an unwavering determination as he began setting
up the coordinates for his trip to Earth.

"By the way, I leave the decision for your cover name up to you. Have you
decided on anything?"

The youth considered for a moment before answering. "Ranma."

"Wild Horse, eh? Well, I have to admit that it suits you, considering your
extraordinary martial arts skills. I kept that in mind when I had this
Gundam built for you. You'll find that it will adapt perfectly to your
abilities. Good luck."

Ranma nodded as his Mobile Suit was being loaded into a shuttle that was
disguised as a meteor.

Two days later...

"What the hell is that?!" Zechs asked as he watched the strange craft enter
the Earth's atmosphere. The ship's smooth lines entranced the masked
'Lightning Count' as he rode his LEO suit into the atmosphere. Behind him
were two ARIES Mobile Suits. Without warning, the strange machine suddenly
bent out of shape and then shifted its form to resemble a humanoid
configuration with wings. It looked like some techno-angel, flying down
from the heavens.

"It transformed into a Mobile Suit!" One of his subordinates gasped as he
and his partner flew toward the enemy and started firing. The shots hit the
unknown mecha dead center of its back, between its winglike appendages. The
machine simply shrugged off the blasts, slowly turned around and then aimed
the huge beam cannon up toward the attacking suits. It then let loose a
huge beam of energy that caught both ARIES suits and reduced them to ashes.

Zechs was impressed. "HE just blew away TWO ARIES with one shot! Not too
shabby!" Zechs knew that he was severely outmatched against this newcomer
and decided to try for a suicide run. Releasing his suit's parachute, his
LEO dropped toward the Gundam, just as the pilot inside was about to let
loose with another blast. Taking out the LEO's beam saber, he tried to
slash at it, but was countered by the free arm of Wing Gundam. The two
suits tumbled down toward the Pacific Ocean, when Zechs decided to bail
out.

Zechs floated down gently as he watched the two mecha plummet toward the
water. He didn't believe for a second that the pilot of the unknown Mobile
Suit was not finished. He nodded to an approaching pickup vehicle as the
Gundam and the Leo vanished beneath the waves.

Meanwhile, all over the Earth, there were numerous sightings of strange
looking Mobile Suits that were attacking OZ facilities without warning.
Reports of the mecha were varied as they were described as indestructible
machines with overwhelming firepower.

At a port warehouse, a strange Gundam with a kind of extending Dragon's
Head arm begins torching the place with fiery blasts. A Gundam wielding an
energy blade in the shape of a scythe cuts an aircraft carrier to pieces.
Another Gundam with twin, sickle-shaped weapons lays waste to a
manufacturing plant, while a fourth with a huge gatling gun composing its
left arm, shoots a supply depot and its defenders with huge amounts of
armor-piercing ammunition. Whenever an enemy Mobile Suit got close, its
other arm would stab and slash at them with an ultra-sharp knife that
flipped out from a hidden housing.

The OZ troops were unable to stop these destructive machines as they
mercilessly tore apart their forces. As the sightings increased in
frequency, OZ began referring to these machines by number. The one that
Zechs encountered was called Gundam 01 or Wing Gundam. The one with the
scythe was called Gundam 02. The one with the gatling gun was 03, while the
one with the sickles and the other with the Dragon's Head arm were called
04 and 05 respectively. The people at OZ thought that there were only five
of these fearsome Mobile Suits, so they were very surprised to see a sixth
when it suddenly appeared at an OZ base a day after the first five
appeared. OZ was calling this fearsomely fast and deadly mecha as Gundam
06. However, to its pilot, it was known as the Gundam Warblade.

OZ LEO suits were torn to pieces as this blue and black machine slashed and
stabbed. It was similar in configuration to the other Gundams but each arm
had a long, narrow, double-edged straight blade, which was mounted in the
forearm. Each blade was as long as the entire arm and ran along the length
of the limb when not in use. However, when they were deployed, they flipped
forward like Gundam 03's and extended handles perpendicular to the hafts
for the fists to grip. What made these weapons unique was the fact that
they glowed with an eerie light that enhanced their cutting power. Enemy
mobile suits were sliced through like butter. The blades also shot off
beams of energy that the soldiers could not identify as they were reduced
to ashes.

Inside the cockpit, Ranma remained focused as he channeled his chi into the
Gundam's weapons. The engineer who designed the Gundam Warblade had
developed a system that could absorb and amplify the martial artist's
phenomenal chi potential. The weapons were termed as Chi Cannon Blades and
were just effective as Sandrock's Heat Shortels and Deathscythe's Beam
Scythe. Furthermore, they could fire off intense beams of chi energy like
the Beam Cannon of Wing Gundam. Though not as powerful, Ranma could fire
off more shots and had a replenishing supply.

Another feature of the Gundam was that it also used the chi energy to
augment its physical movements and sensor arrays. It's main systems were
cybernetically tied into Ranma's psychomotor and sensory centers of his
brain. With the application of his chi, the Gundam reacted far more faster
and mimicked his martial arts maneuvers with uncanny prescison. Ranma could
actually feel WITH his machine as it punched, kicked and dodged. It was if
he had been enlarged to a height of sixty feet and was fighting against
giant opponents.

Ranma shrugged as an attacking group from the right flank fired at him. His
reflexes were far superior as he made his Gundam execute a beautiful tuck
and roll. Though his armor plating was a little thinner than the other
Gundams, it was also lighter and faster. Ranma preferred speed anyway as he
easily maneuvered around the volleys and then sent twin beams of chi to
destroy the squadron.

When another group came at him, Ranma toggled a switch that made the twin
blades disengage from the forearms. The Warblade slammed their shafts
together to form a double-bladed lance. Swinging around the new weapon like
the Sheng Long's polearm, Ranma put his mobile suit through a series of
maneuvers that resembled his own fighting style. Chi was focused through
the lance and more enemy machines and their pilots were annihilated.

A LEO suit tried to sneak up from behind Ranma, but the pilot of the
Warblade had some kind of danger sense which warned him. With a smooth
motion, the Gundam pivoted on one foot and sent a hard straight kick to the
LEO's waist. Ranma engaged the Vulcan guns on the Gundam's head and blew it
away.

It was then that his sensors had picked up the departure of a Mobile Suit
transport. Since his mission was to destroy all the Oz Mobile Suits at the
base, he was not about to let any of his enemy escape. Rearing back, he
sent the Warblade's lance spinning toward the fleeing transport. The weapon
made a flat spin toward the plane and in a huge collision, turned it into a
burning, and, nose-diving wreckage. Amazingly, the lance then swung around
to return to the Gundam, guided by its inertial homing gyroscopes.

Ranma had the Warblade catch its weapon, then split it back into its two
component blades before placing them back into their housings.

In less than a minute, Ranma was alone amid a wasteland of twisted metal
and smoking hulks. Scanning the area for new opponents and finding none,
Ranma engaged the Gundam's thrusters to leave the battle zone. As he
rocketed away, he spoke into the communicator of his suit.

"Mission completed. Awaiting further orders."

Meanwhile, at a private school for rich students, Relena Darlian had just
gotten a big shock after her new classmate had just torn up her invitation
to attend her birthday party.

"I am going to kill you." Heero Yuy said coldly into her ear as he walked
past her.

To be continued

Author's notes

Well, I guess it was ineveitable that Gundam Warblade was going to be
continued. In any case, I'm glad that it go so much positive feedback.
