This is a very dark piece for me, along the lines of Warrior's
Sacrifice,
maybe even darker than that.
Not all my pieces are like this but I kinda like character torment, so
please
give me feedback!

Tomo sensed the impending knock on the flap of his tent before he
heard it. She was back again. This was the thrid time in the past six
months.
Unbelieveable.
He didn't flinch at her voice, sounding sick and tired. "Tomo-san?"
"It's open." he sighed.
She stepped in, that long formless black robe swirling around her. Her
arms
were wrapped around herself, her eyes sunken and sad.
Her long red hair fell, un-bridled over her hunched shoulders.
"Another one?" Tomo asked coldy.
She nodded. "Yes. Do you have any more of it?"
"I can't believe you keep doing this to yourself. " he sighed, turning
to
look at her. Her shaking figure looked small and tired. Heavy lidded
eyes
blinked back at him, their lashes laced with sudden tears.
His expression softened and he stood to look at her. "You really want
this
one don't you?"
"I want all of them Tomo." she replied softly. "But I want him more."
"They're his too. You should keep it. Let him deal with what he's
created."
"Him 'dealing' with it is what I'm afraid of." she muttered. "Just give
it to
me, will you?"
Tomo turned with a shake of his head and went to the cupboard. "I have
to mix
it. Sit down.Talk to me."
She sat silently on the edge of his bed. He seated himself across the
room at
the table and began to grind the powders together.
"So...what's this one's name."
She thought a moment, then rested a hand on her chest. "Karasuma."
"Crow?" he questioned. "Why?"
"Crows fly away eventually, don't they?"
Tomo lowered his gaze to his work. "I'm surprised Nakago doesn't suspect
what
you do. Sleep with him for five years and you've never been pregnant?"
"He thinks I'm barren. I'm sure he does." she said softly.
"Soi." the tone of his voice made her look up. "You want them so much.
Take
them. Keep them. If Nakago doesn't want them it's no fault of yours and
it is
his own damn loss. This way he never knows and you keep on loosing."
He lifted the powders, slipping them into the water filled flask.
Corking it, he shook it and handed it to her.
"I'll give it to you, but please don't drink it."
Her raised eyebrow was the only sign of happiness on her face. "You're
putting an alcoholic in a swimming pool full of sake, you know."
"I know, but sooner or later the alcoholic will be so drunk that she
can't
swim anymore and she'll drown."
She blinked at that, but said nothing. For a moment she opened her
mouth,
but nothing came, only the tears spilling down her cheeks.
He extended an arm and she gratefully stepped into his embrace, crying
for a
moment into his shoulder. She pulled back after a while, and wiped her
eyes.
"I'll think before I do..." she sniffed. "But I'll probably drink it."
"I wish you'd just do what you really want to do." he sighed.
She smiled slightly, before turning to leave... "Me too."

This was based on an idea I had a while back - Nakago and Soi bed down
together almost nightly but Soi was never pregnant. It sounded a little
unusual to me that she would be sleeping with someone so often but never
winding up with child.
The idea struck me that she would either have to be unable to concieve,
ridiculously lucky or doing something about it when she DID get
pregnant.
This is also a starter piece to another story that I have planned, but
don't
get your hopes up that I'll actually finish it.....
