Soi and Nakago are lying next to each other in Nakago's tent each of them
sound asleep. They are both quietly dreaming...........
*You said I'd always be your little girl...*
A young Soi is sitting in someone's lap, looking happy as the adult - face unseen- gives her a little necklace.
*I thought that would last forever....*
Soi blinks up frightenedly at the same person as he pushes her toward a large dark door.
*But you left me in this grown up world, I had to pull myself together....*
Soi is sitting on the front steps of a store on busy street. The carts and people around her slow and she looks up, blinking sadly and staring into the distance. She clutches the necklace she is wearing tightly.
*At the end of the day, you showed me the way....*
Soi crys out as her owner bashes her against a tree, then looks up at the shadowfaced blond man who has killed her captor...
*I'm never in doubt....*
Little Soi watches as Nakago walks away, catching his eye for a moment.
*Someone's watching over me, though sometimes I wish that you would look away from me.*
And older Soi is standing in front of Nakago, looking down at his chest, tears in her eyes. He reaches out and holds her to his shoulder, letting her cry.
*Always watching over me, Though it' s not perfect it can't be any other way for me.....*
Soi wakes in the bed and blinks over at Nakago's sleeping form. She strokes back his hair, then snuggles againt his shoulder and goes back to sleep. Meanwhile Nakago is dreaming.......
*You said to me that time would never wait....*
A little Nakago is standing in a big sunny field, his mother holding his hand. She speaks to him and he smiles, like only truly happy little children can smile.....
*So I ran a little faster...*
Chibi Nakago laughs and let's go of his mother's hand, running ahead of her up the path.
*I was always there, but just too late...*
Chibi Nakago stands frightened in the corner as soldiers attack his mother. His powers activate and the entire room lies in silence, everyone dead.
*So fate became a father....*
Nakago lies, stomach down on a bed, looking blankly out at the room. A shadow falls over him and he winces, knowing who is there and what is about to come.
*At the end of the day, you showed me the way....*
An older Nakago, riding along a path, sees a big overbearing looking man beating up Little Soi.
*I'm never in doubt...*
The man killed, Nakago leans down and greets little Soi. She looks up at him shakily, smiling. Someone has been kind to her.
*Someones watching over me, though sometimes I wish that you would look away from me.*
Slightly older, Nakago lies next to Soi in the twilight darkness. She is asleep. Nakago brushes her hair from her eyes. He rolls onto his back and looks out at the night sky outside the tent flap, thinking suddenly of his mother - her warm face and smile.
*Always watching over me, though it's not perfect it can't be any other way for me.*
He looks back at Soi, biting his lip. He strokes the side of her face tenderly, then sees, behind her, his armour thrown over a chair. The words come to his mind again - Soldiers do not love beautiful things. Looking at Soi in the darkness, slowly he begins to cry. Soi opens her eyes.
*You left a girl, with a hungry mind. I'm still learning I'm still waiting.*
Soi sits up and leans over Nakago, wiping away his tears. He blinks up at her almost greatfully, and strokes the side of her face.
*All of my answers I need to find....*
Nakago sits up and kisses her...
*Someone's watching over me, though sometimes I wish that you would look away from me...*
In daylight, Soi seats herself in front of Nakago on a horse. They canter off down a path through some trees.
*Always watching over me......*
Soi and Nakago come to a stop in a field, Nakago helps her down from the horse and takes her over to where he stood with his mother in his dream.
*Though it's not perfect it can't be any other way for me...*
Leaning down he kisses her again, holding her tight. Across the field a transparent figure - Nakago's mother - smiles at them happily.

When I heard this song I immediately thought of Soi as a child, left
by her family, and of Nakago's mother watching over him as he goes through
life. I thought it would be perfect for the two of them!
