Love and Hate Relationship - Part 2
-----------------------------------
For some reason, I feel compelled to brush my hair a little while longer
today, to scrub my face a little bit harder, and to adjust my uniform so
it looks perfect. Today is my lunch date with Heero Yuy, that annoying
Gundam pilot. He wants information on Romafeller's plans of attack. Not
that I'll give him any. I intend to find out his plans first.

It's another one of those damnable perfect days. I suppose it suits the
mood.
Whenever Relena has the upper hand, there are days like this. In her
world,
sunshine is the ideal state. In mine, it's thunderstorms. I wonder what
the
perfect weather is for Heero? And speaking of Heero, he's late.

As I sit on the bench overlooking the ocean, a sense of calm comes over
me.
Maybe this is why Heero was looking at the ocean? Even soliders need to
relax every once in a while. But not machines, and I think he is more of a
machine than a human. I see him approach, walking in a straight line,
sure-
footed and purposeful. His hair is blowing a bit in the breeze coming off
the ocean, and his gaze intensifies as he sees me. Ah, those eyes, I
wonder
what it would be like to see him looking at me with something other than
cool contempt? He takes a seat on the bench next to me.

"Dorothy-san." He nods at me, then looks out to the ocean.

"Heero-san," I reply in typical Japanese fashion, nodding back and taking
him in. He is wearing the male counterpart to my uniform. He looks a
little
flushed, as if he'd just run a great distance - or a short distance very
fast. I wonder, did he rush here to meet me? I reach down and take out my
lunch box. "Where is your lunch, Heero-san?" He is strangely silent, and
looks away.

"...nt."

"What was that, Heero-san? I didn't quite catch that."

"Burnt."

I laugh out loud, barely keeping my lunch from falling out of my lap. "Is
that why you were late?" He nods slightly, trying to avoid eye contact. It
seems he is not as infallible as he lets on. "Here, eat some of mine. I
can't possibly eat this much." I pass him a fork, and he gingerly accepts,
holding the fork as if it's about to explode. "Relax, Heero-san, it won't
bite!" I smirk, and begin to eat. "Or are you used to chopsticks? I'm
sorry
I don't have any." He grunts and picks at some meat.

"Such a lovely day," I say. I want to see what he thinks about that. It's
a
small thing, I know, but somehow it seems important.

"I prefer storms."

Did he say he preferred thunderstorms? Hn. I suppose we aren't that
different
after all. But he is munching thoughtfully on his - my - food now,
absorbed
in thought. So much for that venue of conversation. "Even knowing where
Romafeller will attack from won't change the outcome of the battle, you
know.
Not if the Sank kingdom remains a pacifist nation."

"This is good food. Did you make it yourself?"

What is he talking about? Doesn't he care about battle plans? Isn't that
what we came here to discuss? "Yes, I made it myself. Thank you, I
suppose.
But - "

He cuts me off with a finger to my lips. "Shh. Someone's coming this way."

"HEERO!! There you are, Heero!"

"Good lord no, it's Relena Peacecraft." Heero sees the way I shudder and
actually laughs.

"What's so funny, Heero? Ah, Dorothy. Hello. Anyway, Heero, I've had some
lunch made for us. Why don't you come with me?"

Heero, at that point, brought up a piece of meat and deliberately placed
it
in his mouth, chewing thouroughly and taking his time. He even made a show
of swallowing. I giggled.

"Miss Relena, as you can see, Heero is already eating lunch. In fact, he's
sharing mine." I smirked at her haugtily. God she is annoying.

"I see. Well then, I'll leave you alone. Besides, I see some storm clouds
moving in. Good day, Dorothy. Heero, shall I see you later?" Heero made
some
sort of non-commital noise that Relena seemed to take as a yes. She walked
off in a huff, albeit an appeased huff.

Heero and I looked at each other and burst out laughing. "The look on her
face was priceless!" I exclaimed. He nods in agreement, and eats another
bit of my lunch. I look down and notice that more than half of it is gone
-
and I've barely taken 2 bites! But oh well, there are crueller fates I
could
suffer for my mission than having my lunch eaten by a handsome boy. "So
about those battle plans..."

"What about them? I know them already."

I stare at him, shocked. "You do?"

"Of course. I just hacked into Romafeller's tactical database last night."

"So why did you come here?"

"I wanted to eat lunch without Relena for once."

I raise an eyebrow at him. He raises one back. I lower it and raise my
other
eyebrow. He does the same. I wiggle both eyebrows at him, and he starts
wiggling his. I lean in and kiss him.

What did I just do? Did I just... kiss Heero? We are both sitting here,
dumbfounded. "I-I'm sorry." I blush and look away. "I shouldn't have done
that. I'll leave now."

"No, it's okay." We just sort of look at each other for a while in an
awkward silence.

The breeze blows over both of us, making strands of my long hair fly into
my
face. He reaches up and haltingly brushes it away. He takes my head in his
hand, and brings me closer. He stops for a brief moment, then kisses me. I
feel my lips parting to deepen the kiss, and his respond in kind. He
slides
his tongue into my mouth, swirling it around. I sink into him, reaching
around his back with my arm, running my hand over his shoulder. We only
part
when we remember to breathe.

"Wow," is all I manage to say.

"Hn," he says.

Hey, that's my word! But before I can say anything else, the sound of
thunder rings through the air, and a sheet of water cascades down upon us.
"I guess we'd better be going," he says.

"Oh, why? I love the rain!" I declare to him. He smiles at me.

"I'm not talking about the rain." He points to the large clock on the face
of Relena's institute. "You're late for class."

"Who cares?" Heero smiles at me, kisses me on the cheek, and stands up to
leave.

"Tell Romafeller that no matter what approach they take, I will resist
them."

"You know I will try my best to have Romafeller destroy this nation."

We stay in a comfortable silence this time, somehow knowing that it will
all
work out in the end.

"You're going to catch cold in this rain. I wouldn't want to have an
unfair
advantage over my opponent." Ah, Heero, who knew you could be such a
gentleman? I'm glad I got to see those eyes look at me without hate, even
if
only briefly. He walks off, and I make no move to follow. I'm not Relena.

I pack up my things hurriedly, looking sadly at my now-empty lunch box.
I'm
still hungry. I have everything... but wait, where is my fork?

That bastard kept my fork!
