I Don't Think So
What's up me and the songfics lately? Oh well... this 2xH. Now, I
usually I hate 2xH fics, but when I wrote this, I had lots fun. Which
got me thinking, maybe 2xH fics aren't that bad. I... I think I'm 2xH

Title: I Don't Think So

Feedback: Hit me with it!
Notes: Okay, where did this come from? Think about that episode where
Hilde sneaks onto Libra and steals the data and then Duo comes and
saves her. I watching thinking how Hilde was expecting the tongue-
lashing Duo gave, and she really didn't mind at all. But this takes
place sometime after EW. Anyway, I probably left a ton of plot holes,
but it was *really* late when I wrote this... and oh well. Read and
enjoy. 'character thoughts' //song lyrics//
Standard Disclaimer: I don't own Gundam Wing. I don't own the
song, "I Don't Think So." A nice lady named Lisa Richards own the
song.

//Three hundred feet tall
Back behind the wall
You taunt me night and day//
Duo looked at Hilde, sitting quietly on the bed, staring out the
window. Her dark eyes stared vacantly out the window, looking for
something. Duo sighed, staring at Hilde. 'What the hell is the matter
with me?' he asked himself.
"Hey Hilde..." Duo called.
"Yes, Duo?" She smiled cheerfully at the boy.
"I'm sorry, you know. You just shouldn't say awful things."
Hilde frowned. "You mean I shouldn't speak the truth? You mean I
shouldn't tell you that Heero is an asshole for leaving you?" she
asked bitterly.
"You see!" Duo yelled, "There you go! Why can't you just stop talking
about him! Just shut-up!"
Hilde's eyes burned with anger. "No!"
//You tear my clothes
Push my face to the floor
Smash the phone
I hear the door slam close//
Duo went into a blind rage, destroying everything he could his hands
on. He knocked over the dresser, a string of profanities leaving his
mouth. He threw the vidphone against the wall. Somewhere amid his
rage, he heard Hilde screamed. She ran to Duo's side, hoping to come
him down.
Duo mind's barely registered the fact that he had struck, until she
was on the floor, holding the side of her face. Duo looked at her,
his violet eyes going wide with shock and fear.
"Oh my God! Hilde... I'm sorry... I didn't mean..." Duo turned and
fled the room, leaving a shocked Hilde on the floor.
//And this how you show me that you love me
You show me that you care
You tell me you're above me
You say, I'm lucky that you love me//
Duo ended up in a bar, trying to bury his problems in alcohol. He
wanted to forget everything... Hilde, Heero, Relena. He absently
toyed with the end of his long, chestnut braid. "I'm turning into an
abusive lover. Get it together, Maxwell," he said to himself. He took
a small sip of his third shot of vodka.
"I love Hilde, I swear on everything I hold dear to me, I love Hilde
with all my heart. I knew the moment I saw her, trying to get me to
join OZ. I could sense the determination and stubbornness in her. She
had such an intense fire burning inside her."
//Well, I don't think so//
"I'm glad you think that way," Hilde said.
Duo turned around. Hilde was standing behind him, smiling sadly at
him.
"Oh God, Hilde," Duo said, holding his head in hands, "What in the
name of Shinigami is going on inside my head?"
"There ain't no telling," Hilde answered. She sat across from Duo.
The bar was pretty crowded, but it had a comfortable atmosphere.
"How can you even stand to look at me?"
Hilde shrugged. She had no idea what attracted her to the long-
haired, braided baka. "Let's go home, Duo."
//You lie
You hold my wrist too tight
You say I won't survive without you//
Hilde looked at the empty space in her bed. She felt so lonely
without Duo there beside her. But he needed to cool off. Duo promised
he'd come back though. And Duo never lied.
Hilde ran a hand through her short, dark hair. She smiled at the
picture on her nightstand. She and Duo had gone to the fair that day,
and it was Heero who took the picture.
Hilde's smile faded. Heero. 'How the hell could Duo love him still. I
thought he made it perfectly clear that he never wanted to see him
again. I don't know what Relena did, but maybe it was wrong. It's
changing Duo.'
Hilde held her wrists. The bruises were still there. No, Duo never
hit Hilde, with the exception of that one time, but when Duo grabbed
her... sometimes Duo just doesn't realize how strong he is.
Hilde looked at the picture again. "Get it together, Duo. I don't
know who you think I am, but I won't I tolerate your shit much
longer. As much as I love you, I won't take abuse from anybody."
//You think I'm nothing
You tell me everyday
You find new ways
To make me stay//
Duo sat on the church's steps, head in his hands. He refused to cry.
Boys don't cry. Today was perhaps the darkest day of them of
all. "How the hell could I break my promise! I swore I'd never hit
her again."
Duo recalled the day's events. It had been a good day. He'd taken
Hilde to the movies and out for dinner. After that, he took her back
to her apartment. They talked, laughed, joked like old times...
before Heero left him.
Silence passed between them, and Duo was reminded of Heero. He was
always so quiet. And then Hilde had to go and open her mouth. Duo
smiled. "That's what I like about her. She'll tell me exactly what
she thinks, whether I want to hear it or not."
"Maybe she's right," Duo pondered aloud, "Maybe Heero is a pre-
programmed, son-of-submariner who wouldn't know a good thing if it
bit him on the ass."
"I think I ought to apologize. I just stormed out of there, screaming
about how Hilde was nothing compared to Heero. That's so not true.
Flowers, candy, and a diamond ring. That's what I'll get!"
//And this how you tell me that you love me
You show you really care
You tell me you're above
You say I'm lucky that you love me//
Hilde stared at the diamond ring on her finger. "Damn him," Hilde
whispered. She stared at herself in the mirror. Her make-up hid the
bruises well. Hilde, frowned, willing the tears to go away. "Does
this mean you love me? Does this mean you care? Does my pain soothe
your rage?"
Hilde smashed her hand against the silver mirror, shattering it to
pieces. Her knuckles started to bleed from minor cuts. "Look at me!
Look at me!" Hilde yelled to no one in particular, "What do I mean to
you Duo? If you love me, let him go!"
//Well, I don't think so//
The tears started to fall. "What is it that keeps me bound to that
idiot!?"

Duo laid on his back, trying to drift off to sleep. He sighed, and
looked at the picture on the nightstand next to his bed of Hilde
smiling happily in front of some store. Duo smiled. He was pretending
that Hilde was a famous star and he was the paparazzi trying to get
pictures of her.
Duo laughed. He rolled over to his stomach. Why couldn't there be
more happier times?
"Because, you baka, you're holding on to something you can't have."
Duo sighed, trying to figure out how to make the relationship with
Hilde work. 'Why doesn't she leave me? Is it because she loves me?'
//I make myself real small
Until I'm not here at all
Do what you like
I feel nothing//
'I hate him. I hate him not. I hate him. I hate him not.'
Hilde repeated the mantra over and over in her head. She laid in her
bed, staring up at the white ceiling. 'I can't deal with Duo anymore.
I can't. I may be small, but I'm nobody's bitch.'
Hilde sighed. The tears stung her eyes. 'I mean it, Duo, I mean it.
I'm going to try one last time to help you. And then... and then it's
good-bye. At least until you straighten up. But if not, I'm sure I'll
love again. Someday.'
Hilde got up and walked over to the vidphone. She punched in Duo's
code. After a few rings, Duo's face popped on the screen. He was
smiling, looking as cheerful as ever.
"Hilde, babe, what's up?" he asked.
"Come over tonight, Duo," Hilde replied, just as cheerful. She knew
how to fake cheerfulness just as good Duo. "I've got something to
tell you."
Duo frowned. "You can't tell me now?"
"No silly," Hilde laughed, "It's got to be in person."
A moment of panic and fear flashed in Duo's violet eyes. "You're
planning on dumping me, aren't you?"
"Of course not," was the quick the reply.
Duo's face brightened again. "Okay then. I'll be there later tonight."
"Alright. Bye."
"Bye!" Duo grinned, and cut the connection.
Hilde fell to her knees and sighed. "Take all your anger out on me
tonight, Duo. I will try to calm the raging storm inside of you the
only way I know how."
//You climb up on me
Force your way inside
Your eyes glaze over
You see nothing//
"Duo!" Hilde screamed out, feeling nothing but pure pleasure. The
world seemed to fade out for a minute. Or perhaps it was an hour.
Hilde wasn't sure. She couldn't tell where reality began or ended.
Everything just blended together in some sort of nightmarish
painting. But Hilde wasn't scared at all. She was wrapped in pure joy.
Duo collapsed on top of Hilde, gently kissing her bruised neck. Hilde
moaned.
"I'm sorry, Hilde," Duo whispering, climbing off Hilde. He reached
down and picked the sheets that had been kicked off the bed up. He
covered himself and Hilde.
Hilde smiled, moving to snuggle closer to Duo. "I knew what was going
to happen."
Duo traced the bruises on Hilde's face. His thumb rubbed her swollen
lip.
"I knew I was provoking you. I had to push you to your limit to get
you to see."
"You never screamed," Duo said, reverently, "Not even once. You're
stronger than I thought. And I love you for it. I love you so much
Hilde... you have no idea. I would do anything for you. Anything you
ask of me."
Hilde smiled. Duo's beautiful, expressionate, violet eyes spoke
volumes to one. There was so much love and hurt in his eyes. "All I
ask of you, is to love me, completely. That means forgetting about
Heero. Heero's an idiot."
Duo laughed. "I'm surprised at you, Hilde. I thought for sure you be
afraid to say things like that to me, after I..."
Hilde frowned. "I'm not a punk, Duo. I was once a part of OZ.
Remember?"
"Yeah. I remember. OZ had a bad habit of recruiting anybody."
Hilde's eyes grew wide. "What? You punk!"
"I was kidding! Relax!"
Hilde sighed, giggling a little. She ran a finger up and down Duo's
bare chest. "I love you."
"I know," Duo replied. "You'd have to in order to still be with me.
What if I had r--"
"Stop! I said I knew what was going to happen. I was prepared for
everything. I wanted you to do everything you did."
Duo kissed Hilde's forehead. "I swear to you... I swear it, I will
never raise my hand to you again. I'll cut them off if I have too."
Hilde laughed. "Don't worry. Hit me again and I'll cut them off. And
ain't I talkin' 'bout your hands." Hilde quirked an eyebrow.
"What...?" Duo paled. "You wouldn't... not... lil' Shinigami?"
Hilde smiled proudly. "And flush it down to the toilet."
"You little sadist!" Duo laughed. He flipped Hilde on her back, and
climb on top of her. He pinned her wrists down.
"I may be a sadist, but you're a hentai!"
Duo grinned. "Hentai? Why is there really any other way to be?"
Hilde just stared at him, letting her love for the idiot on top of
her show through her dark eyes.
Duo kissed the dark bruises he'd given Hilde... and then he captured
her lips in a pure, passionate kiss. His tongue claimed Hilde's
mouth. Hilde moaned, giving Duo complete control.
They broke the kiss rather reluctantly, but oxygen was a requirement
of living. Their breathing was slightly off. Duo stared at Hilde, the
strongest, most beautiful woman he'd ever had the pleasure of
knowing. "I'm so lucky. You're all mine."
Hilde smiled. "You got that right babe. But don't go thinking I'm
going to make your life just that easy."
"Sadist."
"Hentai."
Duo was thoughtful for a minute. "Did you ever hate me? At any point?"
//Well, I don't think so//
Hilde rolled her eyes. "You talk to much. Just shut-up and kiss me
for crying out loud."
"Hentai," Duo joke, leaning to capture Hilde's lips with his own once
again.
'It'll be okay,' Hilde told herself.
