Mitsukake is the sixth Suzaku seishi to be located. Miaka and the rest of the senshi first encounter Mitsukake as Myo Juan, a reclusive hermit. He is unwilling to help Miaka at first. His reason is due to the tremendous guilt Mitsukake feels over the recent death of his fiancee, Shouka. Mitsukake was the village doctor, but while he was treating the sick in another village, Shouka became sick by Shikonki, a fatal and painful plague. Mitsukake arrived too late to save Shouka, and so turned his back on the world and his healing abilities, until he is able to make peace with his guilt.
