Himemiya Anthy(Anshii) is completely un-independent. She is a very nice person, but if the person she was engaged to wanted her to be a crude bitch, there's a really good chance that she would do so. She does whatever the person she is engaged to wants her to, no matter what it is. She never says no to anything. It seems that she has no personality of her own. At one point, right before Touga defeats Utena in the duels, it seems that Anthy wants to become a normal girl and resents her position as the Rose Bride. But after she becomes engaged to Touga, it is made clear that she only felt that way because Utena wanted her to. Utena wanted her to be a normal girl, and she thought that Anthy hated being the Rose Bride, so Anthy was only obeying her finacée's wishes. When she became Touga's bride, she went back to liking her position and not wanting any friends. Another example of this was when Utena and Anthy switched bodies and Utena was forced to write in the exchange diary that Saionji kept with Anthy. Utena realised then that Saionji really was sincere about his love for Anthy. She thought that Anthy knew this and that was why she continued writing in his diary behind her back, but the truth was that Utena never told Anthy to stop, so she just didn't. Akio, Ohtori's deputy trustee chairman, is her brother, and she is extremely "close" to him. This is when they move into Akio's tower, and things start getting interesting...

Your first name of Anthy has given you energy, drive, and ambition, but also an almost excessively strong-willed and independent nature. While you are creative, inventive, and ingenious in practical matters, and always ready to initiate and promote new undertakings, you often experience difficulty in bringing your undertakings to a successful conclusion because of your own changing interests or changing circumstances. You become intensely involved with everything you plan to do, but the stress arising from frustrating obstacles or misunderstandings with others could prompt you to be intolerant and sarcastic in your expression, with breakdowns in congenial relations with family and friends a possible end result. Any emotional outbursts or moods would register as tension in your solar plexus, resulting in nervous indigestion and related problems. Tension could also centre in the head affecting the eyes, ears, sinuses, or teeth. True relaxation and peace of mind are elusive under this name.

-Miki: I personally don't like Anthy. She'll do whatever the person she is engaged to tells her to do, and the thought of saying no would never cross her mind. When she said she wanted to be a normal girl, I thought she meant it. But when she was only saying it because Utena wanted her to be a normal girl, I felt like pushing Anthy off of the dueling arena! In the movie she is totally different. Anthy is more outspoken and has a personality... even though it's a very slutty personality. At least she's got one. She may look better in the movie(everyone does), but she is still a prissy whore-bag...
That's what I used to think about Anthy. I still feel that she is stupid for actually going along with all the Rose Bride crap, but I like her more now. In the movie she looks way better than in the series and her bride outfit is 100 times kewler too. It's really just the movie that made me change my mind. I don't really hate Utena all that much anymore, so if Utena likes Anthy then so do I.

-Nanami: Anthy's appeal to me is very negative. Sure you feel sorry for her when she gets abused, but then she does something bitchy (like sleep around) and you're like "the hell with you!" I just don't like people who can't be themselves. She's a mere slave to whoever she's engaged to. I agree with Miki-kun on Anthy, 100% prissy whore-bag!

-Usagi: Anthy...what is there to say? I'm not sure about my opinion on Anthy just yet...
