I am hoping that this article will ignite some controversy in this
site. I know that people have lots of differnt opions about this and I
hope that you write me about them, wether you agree or not.
Funimation has done a lot of differnt things to DBZ series. It has edited to a lot so that it my be considered more of a "cartoon" than an actual animation series. They have done a great job of trageting little kids, and "selling" the series. In doing this they have realy confused some of us newer, but older DBZ fans. I first learned about DBZ by just flipping through channels and I happened upon the episode were Goku and Piccolo are fighting Raditz. Although I did not understand it, it did intrest me so I watched the next, and that turned into the next, and the next, until I was hooked. Eventualy I started surfing the web for DBZ sites that I could learn more about the series and find cool stuff. Well I soon learned that there is much more to the series than what meets the eye. There were three totally different series. The first: Dragon Ball, the second: Dragon Ball Z, and the third: Dragon Ball GT(Galaxy Tour). I also learned that the series was made in Japan, and that it was much differnt than the one that I had been watching. Extremely different, actually. The series was so edited that some of the long time DBZ fans were enraged and had started sending petions and things of that nature to Funimation to get them to change. All of this confused me because when I went to DBZ sites that used Japanese names I didn't know what they were talking about. Actually, still don't understand most of it. Well, because of these petitions and things Funimation has changed the series a little bit, to make it closer to the orginal version. When I say "closer" I mean little things that they added to please the hardcore DBZ fans. Now they even have unedited videos out. Although I have not seen these videos to see if that is true, I would soon like to find out. But still, I don't feel like spending hundreds of dollars just so I can see unedited versions of dbz shows. If I had my way they would show unedited versions during the midnight run on Toonami. Of course they wouldn't be totaly unedited, because there is no way they would show and say some of the things we couldn't possibly say in America. That way the younger fans can have there show at 4:00 and the older fans can have their's at 11:30. That way every one is happy and a lot less confused. Things have improved since I have started watching DBZ, but that dosen't mean that things can't get better. That is all I have to say about the edited and unedited versions right
now. I eventauly will say more about this and some other things that
have been bothering me. Please write me at Goku12_12@yahoo.com.-Goku12
