Game Review: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 GBA

What does the future hold for handheld gaming systems? With the Game Boy Advance, a 32 bit system that can play some Playstaion and Nintendo 64 Games, the power of the latest technology is coming in quite clear. The best selling Tony Hawk Skateboarding franchise now has a game for the new system. It is a port of the second game in the series, but from an isometric view (overhead). Most of the levels are there from THPS2 and one from the original, plus a new hidden level. All the tricks are there, plus your favorite skaters.

To start off, the graphics are amazing, creating a 3D world, and this is only a first generation game for the system. The character's are made up of about 300 Polygons, amazing. Even most of the songs have been transferred over to this version, but they are now instrumentals. Most of them sound the same, though. The poor unlit screen of the GBA makes it hard to see the screen unless it is in direct light. The controls take some getting used to but are great considering the GBA's lack of the usual buttons from the other consoles. The game has no real plot so you can skate forever and almost never get bored. This game is rated E for animated blood and violence. (when your skaters biffs...) This is a must own game for anyone who now owns the newest, coolest, portable.
