Masamune Shirow-In a league all his own
Masamune Shirow, b.a. Masanori Ota, is the creator/artist of some of the most popualr anime/manga titles to date. He was born in Kobe City, Japan on 11-23-61. He liked to draw as a child, and his first publication was Black Magic, in 1983, when he was 22 years old. The publishing company that noticed him was Seishinsha, and signed him to their firm. His first release by them was Appleseed, in 1988, also the year he finished College. His next works were Orion (1988) and Ghost in the Shell. He then became a teacher and didn't like it. He has also released Intron Depot.
One thing Shirow believes in is his privacy. He keeps very isolated with only a few contacts, such as people at Seishinsha. He invisions himself as an octopus, as he says it describes his personality. He is currently working on Ghost in the Shell 2.
