Names: In the english version his name is Gary Oak, in the Japanese it's Okido Shigeru (surname first.)

Family: Gary's grandfather, Prof. Oak is a pokémon researcher, that studies pokémon, and gives starting trainers their beginning pokémon. In the manga Gary has an older sister named May. She also appears in the game, but her name isn't given.

Appearence: Gary has dark blue eyes and reddish brown hair, and is supposedly 10 years old in the beginning of the show, and 11 in the game. In the show he wears a purple shirt, purple pants, brown boots, and a funky pendant around his neck. His height is 5'5 (Wow, that's one tall 10 year old... he must eat all his vegetables. ^-^)

Home: Pallet Town

Voice Actors: English: Jimmy Zoppi, Japanese: Kobayashi Yuko

Known Pokémon: Arcanine, Nidoking, Krabby, Eevee. He has over 200 pokémon, more then one of some kinds. In the game the pokémon he has depends on which pokémon you chose as your beginner.

Personality: Gary appears to be quite arrogant especially to Ash Ketchum, his rival. He insults him almost every chance he has. Gary is quite knowledgeable about pokémon and seems to know a lot about them. He's very confident in himself and believes that he is one of the best trainers around, and is very dedicated to become a pokémon master (and beat Ash at every single little thing. ^-^)

Miscellaneous: Gary's goal is to be a pokémon master, and competes with his rival Ash Ketchum, who is also a pokémon trainer from Pallet Town and also wants to become a pokémon master. Gary doesn't appear to much on the show, only when him and Ash occasionally meet up with each other. When Gary is seen, he is usually seen with his six cheerleaders in tow. The whole Gary crew have a chauffeur that drives them from town to town in a flashy red convertible. ^-^

My Personal Opinion: I think Gary is by far the coolest character in pokémon. Of course I think that or why would I have made this site dedicated to my obsession with him! ;) Anyways I think Gary is a great trainer, and really cares about his pokémon, no matter what anyone else thinks. He gives all his pokémon a chance to train and grow to the best they can be. (Yes he does train all his pokémon eventually, he said so in one of the episodes...) Gary may seem to be confident and conceited, but there seems to be, to me, something he keeps hidden about himself that he doesn't wish anybody else to see. Remember that episode when Gary lost in the pokémon league? Did you see the sad look on his face? :( ^-^
