Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon/Pocket Monsters nor any of its characters.

Author’s note: My first Pokemon fic ever. I’ve always been writing CCS fics, and I was just surfing the net, when I ran into a Gary Oak site. I thought I was the only one who loved him . . . lol . . . I also loved Misty, she’s always been a favorite. Gary has always been my most favorite of Ash, and why? I dunno, his nature is so appealing to me, I mean you have Ash . . . but it’s just something about Gary’s rude behavior, and ego which makes me attracted . . . it must have been the CCS Syaoran, because he was rude and mean, but we learn that he’s something more on the inside. Now I apologize if this story may seem OOC to you, I have no idea. I haven’t been watching pokemon for a while x_x because the show sorta got boring when we entered another stage into the Johto . . . (I have all games except Blue, and yes I admit, I was once a BIG pokefreak.) Now I should stop babbling, and get on with the fic, which I remind you is a GAMRN. If you do not like it, please do not flame me, because I’m sure there are lots of other fictions you can flame. ^_^ This event takes place after Johto, and to tell you the truth, I don’t know what happens after it. Gomen.

Misty- 14

Gary- 14

Ash- 13

Brock- (raises a brow) Uh, who remembers? I thought he was like . . . sixteen? Maybe he’s 19 now? >_<

May- hmmm 16? 15?

(Not really helpful to you on ages, am I?)

Arrogant Tears

Chapter One

Misty had loved their adventures, and their pastimes. She enjoyed being with Ash, though it had taken her such a long time to realize it. She had finally understood that she loved him, two years ago. She got around to telling him, somehow trying to get Brock off her back about it . . . She remembered the way her heart fluttered, and blush was warm on her cheeks, her stomach in knots, anticipating his answer. He was silent for a while, until finally, he opened his mouth, stuttering, “I-I-I l-love you t-too . . .”

Since then, it seemed like a happily ever after, but was it? She wondered this, for she had always loved him . . . she had this feeling they were growing apart, ever since he decided to go back to Pallet. She stayed in Cerulean, always waiting for his calls, waiting to see him smile on the Vidphone. It had made her happy, but not being there, it wasn’t enough.

She sat on the concrete on the side of the pool in Cerulean Gym, her feet dangling in the water. Her hair was down, she was wearing a pink and yellow bathing suit, staring sullenly into the blue chlorine water. “I need to be there . . .” she muttered.

Insecurity seemed to swell in her heart, because this long-distance relationship, (not too long distance) could be broken with one single action. She hated to think exactly what kind, but she knew the problem could be in Pallet town, happening now. If she didn’t leave to see him, she’d never know. “It wouldn’t hurt . . .”

Togepi walked up along the edge of the pool, complete glee on its sweet little face, flailing its little arms in the air as it swayed in motion while walking towards her. Misty smiled, and held her arms out, as Togepi hopped along, singing its name. “Come here Togepi,” Misty coaxed sweetly.

Togepi jumped into her arms, letting out a playful, “To-ge-priiiiiiiii!”

Misty giggled, holding her pokémon in a loving hug, “I’m so glad I have you.”

It replied by chanting its name, as she released her pokémon, to freely walk about the pool, carefully watched by the gym’s Seel. She sighed, and stood up, “I think that I’ll . . . call Ash . . . or should I?”

A conflict inside her all day, she wondered, “Should I call him?”

She walked from the bathroom in her bathrobe, drying her red hair with a towel, her brows furrowed above her blue-green eyes, “Should I . . .?” she placed the towel down.

She picked up the brush, and began to brush down her short, red hair, then gritting her teeth, angrily combing through the strands of her hair, “Why am I so afraid to talk to him!? I just don’t understand . . . .I . . . argh . . .”

She placed the brush back down, violently, on the dresser drawer, as she pulled out her clothes. She muttered, “What’s wrong with me? I have to wait . . . I have to be patient for him, that’s all.”

But for Misty, patience was always a test she would fail. Her personality, and her mind wouldn’t be able to bare this ‘patience’ any longer, and she wanted to talk to Ash, see him, be with him again. It had only been three months, but that seemed long enough to worry her greatly. She stopped in the middle of the room, just after changing her shirt, “What’s there to worry about?” she said, arguing with the thoughts in her mind.

Sighing, she sat down on the edge of the bed, tying on her regular red sneakers. She stopped in the middle of the process, placing her face in her hands, “I just don’t understand why I have to be so worried . . . why am I worried? I get to speak with him everyday on the Vidphone . . . and . . . it’s not like he’s doing anything . . . disloyal . . . Ash wouldn’t do those things . . . but . . . then I don’t know.” Frustrated with herself, she angrily stomped out of her room, slamming the door, “Why can’t I just trust him!?”

But really . . . the truth lie in the simple words that she really couldn’t trust anyone. Had she ever really trusted anyone? Was she able to trust? She believed it was so, as she became closer to Ash, and Brock . . . but trust always came differently . . . it was just an aching in her heart, which made her worry. She wanted it to go away, and she knew the only answer, was Ash. She loved him, and just couldn’t bear the thought of being without the boy any longer. She knew the reason she had ‘wasted her life away with the twerp’ was because she had feelings for him. Now she didn’t want that to be in vain, as she walked down into the large kitchens. She pulled out a sandwich that was already made for her, sitting in the fridge. She bit into the sandwich, chewing the bits, everything tasteless in her mouth, though really she ignored the simple taste. She wanted something different to taste . . . something like . . . lips . . . his lips . . . As these thoughts entered her head, she spit out her sandwich in surprise, as a vision of Ash and her kissing entered her head . . .

She stood for a long moment, motionless, except the rise and fall of her chest, breathing heavily, “Why did I do that?”

She sighed, and wiped the mess clean with a wet cloth that rest on the counter.

Walking back upstairs, then back down, then back up . . .

“Misty!” her sister Violet called, “What on earth are you doing?”

Misty froze in position, about to walk down the stairs again, “I’m . . .” she honestly didn’t have an answer.

What was I doing . . .? I’m walking up the stairs and down again, over and over . . . like some . . . I don’t know . . . idiot . . . What am I doing??

Violet sighed, “Never mind . . . just, come out to the pool, okay? We need help to feed the water pokémon.”

Misty nodded, and waited until her sister walked away, and out the door towards the pool. Misty sat down on the stairs, realizing she had been asking herself questions the whole day . . . and she now wanted the answers to those almost rhetorical questions.

Misty walked into the pool area, where joy alighted in every corner. Her sisters, Violet, Daisy and Lily were in various areas of the pool house, feeding, and playing with the water pokémon. “Ah, Misty, you finally join us . . . come help me feed Dewgong,” Daisy waved.

Misty nodded, and walked towards her sister, who held a bucket, filled with snacks and treat biscuits, with seafood flavoring, healthy for the water pokémon to keep a strong and fit body. Daisy handed Misty the bucket, who held it, as Daisy fed pieces to Dewgong. “So, Misty . . . how are you doing?”

“I . . . I’m fine.”

Daisy stopped for a moment, then looked up at her young sister, “Misty . . . I know that some relationships are hard, especially ones that are long distance . . .” Misty sighed, “It’s not that.”

Daisy bit her lip, “Misty, you can tell me what’s been bothering you. I really don’t want my dear sister depressed.”

Misty shook her head, “It’s nothing at all.”

Daisy stood up, and waved her hand to Dewgong, who took this as leave to go, diving back into the pool for a nice swim. “Misty, please, tell me.”

Misty’s tone became serious, “It’s nothing,” she repeated.

“Misty, I’m only trying to help . . .”

Misty dropped the bucket, the sound resonated throughout the room, as everyone looked towards her. “I already told you! It’s nothing at all! I shouldn’t worry! Neither should you!”

Angrily, Misty ran from the gym, her blue green eyes glazed over, and began to water, “Just leave me alone!” her voice echoed as she ran.

The door slammed behind her, leaving her sisters, and the pokémon, stunned.

Why am I acting this way? I should just go and see him! I don’t mean to be rude to everyone . . . but I just can’t help him. I feel so uneasy. I . .. I need to see him now!

Misty was inside her room, packing up a suitcase, as a soft knock on the door was heard. “What!?” Misty yelled.

“Misty?” the soft voice of Daisy came through the door.

Misty sighed, “Come in,” she said in exasperation.

“Misty . . .” Daisy paused, after closing the door behind her, “Um . . . going somewhere?”

Misty nodded, “Yes,” she said firmly.

“Where?” Daisy asked.

“I’m going to visit . . .Ash.”

Daisy smiled, “Oh, really? When are you going?”

Misty sighed, “I think I’ll go tonight.” Daisy nodded, “I guess you should go tonight, if you want to get there early or something . . . um . . . so you’ve figured everything out?”

Misty stopped for a moment, before placing a red shirt in, “That’s why I’m going.”

Daisy walked over to Misty, hugging her, “Please say hello to Ash for us. Okay? Give him our love.” Misty nodded, her face remaining expressionless, though her eyes seemed to sparkle, “I will.”

Daisy walked from the room, slowly closing the door, ready to inform their sisters of the news.

Misty knew it wasn’t that hard, she should be able to handle this, or handle anything at all. This should be a piece of cake, she calmly thought to herself, I don’t see why I’m getting so worked up about Ash. I’m going to see him, surprise him, and everything’s going to be just fine. A smile curved on her lips, we’ll be together again . . . no more of this long distance crap . . . even if I have to move to Pallet town and never live in Cerulean again . . . just to be with Ash.

The next day . . . .

“Well, I’m off!” Misty exclaimed hugging her sisters, as the bus readied for departure. Her bags were already on the Charter bus, and she held Togepi in her arms, a brand new blue backpack slung on her shoulder, “I’ll miss you guys.”

“Hey, don’t worry, just remember to call us sometime,” Violet winked, “Remember to tell Ash we said hello.”

Misty nodded, “I can’t wait to see him.”

“Hey, you should be proud that you made this choice. I mean, it’s not easy maintaining a long-distance relationship, eh?” Lily grinned.

Misty shrugged, and the bus driver waved a hand, beckoning her on the bus as the engine started. “Bye! I’ll call you,” Misty said, as she entered the bus, the doors closing behind her.

She took her seat in an empty row in the middle section of the bus, her bag packed up in the cabinet above her. Togepi rested in her arms, and she felt her eyelids close. Drifting into sleep . . .

The last thought in her mind . . . I wonder what Ash will say?

Author’s note: Sooooooo . . . . heh heh . . . what will Ash say? o_O You know how weird it is to type the name ‘Ash’ which everyone calls you everyday in short for ‘Ashley’? oh well, =D let’s just have fun. Review, only if you liked it. And if you don’t like GAMRN, don’t flame please, because I didn’t ask for it. And if you do, you should be ashamed, for if you know CCS, they flame coupling simply because there is mainly only one TRUE couple in that. In this, there is no real coupling, so no coupling should be flamed. No coupling is at all true or false. Even if it is Ash and his pikachu. (o_O)
